For the past year, I have followed Gonzola’s commentary from Kharkov, suggesting he was the Accidental War Correspondent. After he pointed out the obvious anomalies about the Bucha videos suggesting scripting, he was interrogated and was confined to his hotel room, where he continued to upload commentary critical about Ukraine’s war.
Since he went missing near the Hungarian border, rumors abound. This plea to have him deported seems fair.
I believe it is of grave concern.

I haven’t watched this guy’s videos but the story doesn’t work for me. Let me get this right, he’s in Ukraine, he reports on things in a way which the Ukrainians dont like. They arrest him but then they let him continue to report in ways they dont like. So they jail and torture him and no sooner is he out but he makes another video about escaping the country and is promptly re-arrested. The only way to make sense of this Keystone Cops story is to assume (1) the Ukrainian authorities are totally clueless and dont know how to contain this guy and (2) that Lira himself is a total moron for carrying on flaunting the authorities especially after having a toothpick stuck in his eye which apparently made no impression on him iro STFU and GTFO. I think the Ukies were reluctant to seriously fuck with a US citizen. That’s why they let him out in 2022. They figured he’d tone it down, but he didn’t. When he resurfaced he’d concluded (because they gave him back his passports and didn’t make him wear an ankle bracelet) that they wanted him to leave the country. I think that’s wrong. If they wanted him out, they could have just deported him. I think the Ukraine government said to themselves “We’re not going to be able to imprison an American just for free speech. We need to get him on something else.” So they tricked him into making a run for it and now they can charge him with fleeing justice, failing to show up for his court date, etc.
