Good old politically correct Mish ponders how his hometown has degenerated into a dangerous hell hole. In his entire article about the most dangerous cities in America he never once mentions race. He doesn’t say that his hometown of Danville had about a 10% black population in 1970 and today has 35% black and 7% hispanic. He’s a bright guy, but doesn’t want to be cancelled. Hello Danville
I grew up in Danville, Illinois. It chimes in at # 16 with a 1 in 63 chance of being a victim of a violent crime.
The top 100 ranges from a 1 in 30 chance for Bessemer, AL, to 1 in 107 for Rocky Mount, NC, in spot #100.
I grew up in Danville, Illinois, the home of Chuckles (the candy), Hyster (lift forks), Lauhoff (the world’s largest grain elevator), Petersen Puritan (one of the world’s largest aerosol bottling plants, think deodorant sprays), a GM foundry in adjacent Tilton, and many other industries.
All of those industries but Hyster are gone or sold to other companies. Hyster remains but production of forklifts doesn’t. Lauhoff is now the Bunge corporation. Inquiring minds may be interested in the History of Chuckles, no longer made in Danville.
Dick Van Dyke, Jerry Van Dyke, Bobby Short, Gene Hackman, Irving Azoff, Hellen Morgan, are some of the celebrities who were born or raised in Danville.
I graduated from Danville Schlarman, a Catholic high school, in 1971, and from the University of Illinois in 1976. My goal was to escape the area, and I did.
The population of Danville was 44,000+ when I was in high school. It’s now 28,472 according to US Census Data as of 2022.
When industry left, Danville had nothing else going for it.

- 18% of elementary students tested at or above the proficient level for reading and 19% tested at or above that level for math.
- 20% of middle school students tested at or above the proficient level for reading, and 15% tested at or above that level for math.

There’s a small city, basically a northwest community of greater Atlanta, which is about a quarter blacks. It is safe, and its population keeps creeping up. I suspect that in a lot of the larger cities, crime victims simply do not report all the thefts, rapes, beatings, break ins, and maybe even some of the shootings. Why should they waste their time on pointless paperwork? Why bring yourself to the attention of the police when you might get charged yourself for some minor infringement they see while interviewing you?
I have lived in the Memphrica area for almost 40 years and have witnessed the decay of this city. The population has increasingly become more POC’s than white, with blacks dominating a growing brown population. Memphrica schools have had black leadership for more than 2 generations and the results show it. The first black superintendent became the first black mayor and the city started a precipitous decline under his “leadership”. Of course, he was loved by the community and reelected as often as he ran.
Today, gangs run rampant throughout the city and occasionally into the suburbs. Gang violence is the norm and black on black murder is on the news constantly. The police force is majority black and has been black “led” for more than 20 years. They are as corrupt as any force in the country and were caught beating a young black kid to death last year. Since then, the enforcement has deteriorated and the gangs have had a free hand to do as they please.
Last year, Shelby County elected a democrat for District Attorney General, replacing a pretty tough on crime republican and he has implemented his version of a no/low bail program to get the felons back on the street as soon as possible. His penchant for plea bargains does not provide much protection for the public, as well. I try to stay out of the city as much as I can and only venture in to the fringes on weekday mornings. I have not been in downtown for almost a decade and probably was only there a few times the decade before that.

Governor J B Prickster signed a bill 2 days ago that subsidizes grocery stores in nigger areas. Rest assured that no retail business will open a store in Niggeria. They can make it in an area where 10 % of store visitors shop lift but not where 90% shop lift. There is not a food desert problem there is a nigger problem.
