I know it is customary for presidents to visit disaster areas, but that is a very unnecessary and counter-productive custom. There is nothing that the presidents can learn about the disaster by visiting in person that they can’t learn by watching news accounts, getting briefings from their staff, or making phone calls to officials in the disaster area. When they visit in person they require resources (police protection, etc) and add logistical demands that divert resources from the disaster recovery. Even if there was anything productive that a (competent) president could do in the immediate aftermath of a disaster (which there usually isn’t), a personal visit is at best a waste of everyone’s time. And in this case, given that Biden is a completely useless buffoon, a personal visit is a tragic waste of time, money, and resources.
