Which is Worse?

Guest Post by Eric Peters

Few people like taxes – excepting, of course, those who collect them (and get paid, via them). But which tax – i.e., which form of legalized theft – is the worst: The tax on income – or the tax on property?

Examination of the thing result in just one answer. The most abominable of all taxes is the one applied to property; that is, to the home you will never own on account of these taxes.

This fact encompasses the fact that you will never stop paying taxes on income, which you’ll need in order to pay the taxes on what is not your home and never truly will be. If it were your home, you wouldn’t be paying money to keep from being evicted, which is exactly what happens to renters who don’t pay and that is what you are in the sense that matters most. Which is that you can be kicked out of what you think of as your place by the landlord for failure to pay.

The consequences of this fact are considerable.

First, there is the knowledge of the fact that you can and will be kicked out of “your” place – no matter how many years ago you thought you paid for it – if you ever find yourself unable to pay the rent. This fact vitiates the security of knowing you own your place; or rather, it engenders a feeling of insecurity, because you know it will never be your place.

That you will always “owe.”

Then there is the fact that the landlord can raise the rent at any time and irrespective of the “homeowner’s” ability to pay it.

There are countless cases of “homeowners” who have been forced to sell what they thought was theirs because they could no longer afford to pay the rent. This happens most usually to older people who’ve stopped earning income or who are earning less, being retired and living on savings and the federal dole (i.e. Socialist Insecurity). But it can also happen top people who thought they had purchased a place in an affordable area. Not just the home – but also the taxes levied upon it. But such areas tend to be attractive to other people, who also move there for the same reason and – before you know it – the taxes go up to pay for the “services” you neither asked for nor use, such as the government schools for the children who aren’t yours.

“The children” – and the “schools” – are the oft-used guilt-trips used to justify forcing people to pay taxes to pay for them (and specifically, to pay the generous salaries and benefits of the people who run them and who have acquired the power to force you to pay them, thereby eliminating any incentive for them to do other than demand more while doing less).

Including the people who do not use “the schools” and do not approve of what is taught there.

Jefferson had something to say about the evil of compelling a man to furnish funds for the propagation of ideas he finds abhorrent, such as those propagated in government schools.

It’s also evil, arguably, to say any man is his brother’s or his brother’s kids’ keeper – at gunpoint. Which is exactly what will happen when the landlord comes to evict you from what you allowed yourself to regard as your home, if you fail to pay the rent that goes to pay for such things as “the schools” and “the children” you didn’t bring into this world.

Objecting marks you as a mean-minded person, of course. Just the same as it marked you as mean-minded to not wear a “mask.”

These things may seem unrelated but they are in fact the same things, in principle. It is not enough that you take care of yourself – and thereby impose no burden on anyone else. You must be forced to take care of others – however they define it and to whatever extent. It is why there is generally no limit on how high the rent can go. Nor a cap on how much rent you must pay.

If you live in what you thought was your home long enough, you may end up paying more in rent than you did for the home, itself. Even if not, you will still pay a lot. (This writer has already been forced to pay about $40,000 in rent on a home purchased 20 years ago; if the rent does not got up, it will be about $80,000 in another 20. That is a lot of money; almost enough to buy a new EV, even.)

The point of all of the above is that the property tax obliges you to pay income taxes in perpetuity – because it is almost impossible for most people to be able to pay the property tax/rent without earning income, in perpetuity.

Or at least, until they die.

At which point, their heirs will pay the taxes.

If, on the other hand, it were possible for people to actually own their homes free and clear, it would be possible to avoid income taxes by dint of not needing to earn much of even any income to be taxed. A homeowner’s expenses are (or can be) extremely modest. They encompass the unavoidable necessaries such as food (which can be raised and grown) and utilities (and the latter expense can be greatly minimized by using them less or even not at all). None of that requires generating an income sufficiently high to incur much, if any, income taxation.

That is why there are taxes on property.

It is not just about the money. It is about making sure you and I never have enough of it. That we are rendered perpetually insecure so that we are more easily controlled. The last thing controlling people want is for other people to be independent of them. For them to be able to accumulate the capital that makes people independent.

And that is why the tax on property is the most pernicious and evil form of taxation ever devised.

6: TRUST-LAW, the legal CODE to modern day SLAVERY:
Article 1:26 Genius, is the foundation to TRUST-LAW, and what is TRUST-LAW, it is the
legal code to a “Master-Servant” relationship, being SLAVERY, (Devolution) however,
slavery is outlawed, but, “voluntary servitude” is legally accepted! … What this means is
that the servant (SLAVE) must “agree” or “consent” to a private “contract” of slavery. No
one in their right mind wants to be a SLAVE, and that is why the warnings appear in the
Bible, warning against the deceptive nature of the serpent-snake in the Garden of
Eden, because it is through the clever deception of the serpent (Being the usurper-snake)
that TRUST-LAW has become the new system of slavery, perfected over hundreds of years
by the legal minds of deception, the Masters of Deceit. JUSTINIAN-DECEPTION.

Satan runs planet earth as part of the Spiritual Hierarchy to purify Soul. He loves to give the illusion of freedom. His job is to keep us here. Our job is to escape our earthly prison. We do this by seeking ye first the kingdom of God. As the Kingdom of Heaven is within us, the tools are Prayer, Meditation, and Contemplation of the spiritual works.

I thought God created earth. When did God give Satan control? Did Jesus have a say about that?
Was it a hostile buyout? Did he sign a lease?
Maybe when the lease is up he regains ownership?

LOL The thing I have a hard time quantifying, is how an all knowing omnipotent being could be capable of creating something as screwed up as the human race. The fact is, people are no damn good. So either this so called god is a psychopath who created man knowing he would do what he does, just to watch him suffer and cause others to suffer, for his own amusement, or he is a complete fuck up and his creation turned out to be a big mistake….. Those are the only two options. Neither makes any logical sense.

Income tax is an admission that the money you work for belongs to the Gov. and by it’s good grace it allows you to keep most of it.

it allows you to keep most of it.

Most of it??? lol

You are taxed on your income which is the first instance of theft. You are then taxed on items you buy which is the second reach into your pocket. You are then taxed for owning asset items, like a house and you are taxed should you exercise your freedom of movement right. You are robbed at every instance and you think you are allowed to keep most of your money. No, you are only allowed a pittance and given the illusion that your paper money is worth something.

Here in british communista we have tax on taxes. I’m serious. the asswipes in legislatures do not pass laws for your benefit. They pass laws so they can invent new methods to steal your productivity. People here in canukistan don’t get that majority govts are NEVER good for the country, only the party.

So leave.
I thought you were moving to Mexico.
Hey look, I’m on your side, but “allowed a pittance”?
How is your lifestyle on your pittance? Are you hungry and living in a tent? Do you have shitty a car?

I often hear that same response – “just leave” when I illustrate to others the severity and degree of kleptocracy in my homeland. It always, without exception, comes from the mouths of non-producers who feel that I can always vote with my feet if I don’t like the extortion of my productivity towards subsidizing their lack of it.

To them, I’m somehow disposable but the funds I produce for their benefit are not, yet they can’t seem to join those dots. My immediate family tree has been here since 1820 or so, and all along the way ourselves and others like us have expended tremendous hard work and sacrifice towards creating comfortable modern infrastructures out of a cold harsh wilderness – for the benefit of all. But they tell me I’m the one that needs to leave. Fuck them. I’m not going anywhere. My after-tax money, OTOH, will continue to go to outside jurisdictions where the investment climate is more favourable.

This article is spot on, as is anon a moos. I have used my guerilla economic tactics to reduce my tax burden slightly in other categories, but the property tax burden is burdensome and seemingly inescapable. Maybe I need to become an ordained minister, invoke the vow of perpetual poverty, and turn my home into a place of worship.

Tax on property is worst….they got you on the leash for as long as your alive

I’m torn. On the one hand property tax is worse because you’re just sitting there doing nothing and have to pay money for property that you already own. In that sense, it’s like the Obamacare individual mandate, which – despite some subsidies if your income was low enough – was like a head tax. A tax on your existence. The default position was: you need to provide proof that you bought this product (insurance) and if you don’t, you owe a penalty for not doing something. So that’s why property tax is worse. You might have $0 income in a given year – or even lost money – but you have to pay property taxes anyway.

On the other hand, most people know how much their property tax is within 10% or so. Almost nobody can recollect their most recent income tax bill (federal or state). They may remember that they had to “pay in” $X or that they “got back” $Y, but they have no idea what their total federal or state income taxes were – because most of that money was withheld from their pay. So, income tax is more insidious.

If I had a third hand, that would be holding my dick, because the IRS doesn’t have the goddamn common courtesy to give me a reach-around.

Eric certainly nails this one. I’m in the camp of owning (renting!) a 50 year old owner-built home, and the current property taxes are equal to what it cost me to build the place in the early 70’s.
Dirty rotten thieving motherfucking government cocksuckers!

In a lot of states disabled veterans don’t have to pay property tax. Is that how they buy us off? Our silence, I mean, obviously we aren’t much of a threat.

I have found the concept of property tax to be abhorrently unjust since I learned of it as a child.

The income tax and the property tax from a legal perspective, are equally bad. The reasoning behind this is they both do exactly the same thing, which is destroy your personal sovereignty and impose slavery upon you.
As a sovereign individual, you own your body, your life, and you own your labor, you also own your property as allodial or absolute.
To place a tax on either, implies the government actually is the owner of that which it taxes. The taxation of your property can only be legal if the government has legal claim to it, which is to say it actually owns it. To tax you labor, the government has to legally claim ownership of your person, which is slavery.
Prior to the formation of the United States all people worldwide were owned by their King, or Emperor’s, and only the Kings and Emperor’s were sovereigns.
The United States was formed in order for all of its Citizens to be sovereign’s and to have the rights of self ownership and property ownership the same as a king. Kings do not pay taxes on their property or their labor, only slaves are required to submit their sovereignty and their lives to the benefit of someone else.
