I feel sorry for this fella. He pretty much stated he wanted to be left alone, no shiny stars, tours or 6 buses filled with nice music industry handlers. Typical of western society today is he has a very relatable, and heartfelt song, even a few songs but has one or two dumb ones.
So what happens? The communists hate the guy, and will seek to destroy him by any means, which means lying and misrepresenting him soup to nuts. Then the ‘conservative’ folk will start turning on him because he said that blacks were ok, probably because he has some decent black friends. We’ve made our living in Bluegrass for 40 years, and it’s a form of music you don’t have to be Appalacian to perform. Didn’t hear much protest from them the last 3 years either.
When I go on my daily morning ride to the mountain top I’m listening to Appalacian Bluegrass. Two tracks, each about an hour long of all instrumental bluegrass. For me, both the ride and music are therapy.
Sure, it’s great and music doesn’t have to be politicized but the topic is political music here. The myth of the rebellious musician sure took a beating the last few years, in fact we know many were (most likely paid) collaborators.
