I just signed my Mother up for Hospice today after fighting it for 4 of the longest years of my life. All we can do is all we can do. I’m sure you did your best, as did I.

Many of us end up as cogs in the machine and when our usefulness is used up or no longer needed we are tossed aside like Dixie Cups use up & throw away !
Such is the American Business Model Of today regarding labor . Gone are the days of a 30 years of service to a company and you retire with full benefits and life left to live .
Today you are overworked , overstressed underpaid and often threatened with or systematically left unemployed when convenient !
Except in Government employment !
I severely injured my knee on the job requiring surgery and 3 months of recovery it was a bad one .
When I returned to work I was threatened with being fired after 20 years on the job !
Had I been in a Government job there would have been a welcome back party not a FUCK YOU .
I patched things up and because I had invested in my own retirement after 4 more years I politely left the company and never talked to the owner again !
He is still hustling and I’m on my back deck enjoying a bourbon at sunset or at my beach hideaway grilling up the catch of the day and a couple beers

This week was my 40th anniversary beginning my 30 year at times torturous journey through the belly of the beast. Yeah, I outlasted the two or three supervisors threatening and attempting to fire me over the years. My big mouth and my attempt to be a reasonably honest employee. It is certainly harder to fire a gov’t employee, but they can make your time hell. I got my retirement out of it. I’m fairly confident that not many here or elsewhere would say the juice was worth the squeeze.

That said,a job related injury is usually until all funds dry up a ticket to financial freedom with a good lawyer.
I assume like me you fucked up and tried to do the right thing by actually returning to work,learned was a mistake but was already covered to a large degree monies wise and thus am doing fine and a bit of side work which I enjoy and will grow as much as I let it.
To others out there hurt badly on job,get a lawyer and a good payout/hate to say that but tis the way it is these days.
Remember workman’s comp insurance protects the employer not the employee ! Sure the injured employee gets a check while recovering but that makes legal action against the employer difficult and proving negligence is the only true path which requires others on the job to speak out (not likely) I was able to prevent being fired after the injury because I made money on all my projects and maintained repeat customers .
Regardless in America without a Union you are an “AT WILL” employee and can be tossed out the door at anytime for any reason
