I am reminded of a young man I met in a VA TBI resident clinic who was encouraged I liked the thrill of combat. I don’t know if he saw more than me, but I am sure we both saw more than most our generation in the military. He said “so you are a war pig, like me”. No. No I wasn’t. I thank God I was never that broken, but blast injuries always lead to PTSD as one behind the scenes researcher confided in me. It is not the horrors of war, but the brain damage.
