Corporate Execs Call Workers “Lazy,” Wish ‘Economic Misery’ To Remind Them Who’s Boss

Via ZeroHedge

Since the beginning of Covid, employees have gained a lot of leverage, benefiting from remote work options and higher wage demands. However, this favorable period may be coming to an end. Some corporate executives now call workers “lazy,” with one exec suggesting that economic pain will be needed to “remind people that they work for the employer, not the other way around.”

At an investor conference hosted by Morgan Stanley on Wednesday, Barry Biffle, CEO of budget airlines Frontier Group Holdings Inc., said, “We got lazy in Covid. I mean, seriously, people are still allowing people to work from home. All this silliness, right?”

Biffle’s comments highlight the push by corporate America to impose more strict in-office mandates after productivity declines materialized shortly after the proliferation of remote work.

“When we look at overhead versus 2019 adjusted for capacity, it’s up dramatically,” he said, adding, “Why do I have more people per plane in overhead than I had in 2019? It’s because they’re not as productive.”

“Look, we’re not alone in this. You hear every company out there talking about productivity challenges,” Biffle said.

Just before billionaire businessman Sam Zell passed away in late May, he called remote work “One of the biggest lies in the world is that people working from home are more productive than people working in the office.” He noted, “You have much less productivity if you’re working from home in your pajamas with three little kids running around than if you’re in an office.”

Others have voiced their concerns about lazy workers and a slide in productivity, and the next executive isn’t from the US but Australia.

According to The Sydney Morning Herald, property developer Tim Gurner called employees arrogant and warned unemployment must surge to revive productivity.

At a business event earlier this week, Gurner said Covid had a “massive effect” on productivity. He said, “The problem that we’ve had is that people decided they didn’t really want to work so much any more through COVID.”

Gurner offers a solution that no worker wants to hear:

“We need to see pain in the economy. We need to remind people that they work for the employer, not the other way around. There’s been a systematic change where employees feel the employer is extremely lucky to have them, as opposed to the other way around. It’s a dynamic that has to change.”

These are very harsh comments from corporate elites who are angered by the shift in leverage workers have received. They now want revenge, which might be in the form of a downturn — where they can reduce wages and cut workers. Recall Walmart already kicked off the reduction in wages for new employees.

Oh, the ego on these people.

Seems to me we need to see pain in the economy to remind these CEOs we’re not their slaves. Labor is a business expense. People have the freedom to chose not to work for you or half-ass their work if the job only pays the bare minimum. Increase in wages and promotions went away 20-30 years ago when businesses decided to offshore and hire illegal immigrants.

You’d have to be a fool to be loyal to these people or care about their bottom line.

And I’m sure the multi-ethnic stew they have already hired have not contributed in any way to the decline in productivity, it’s everybody and everything else but that. Like always.

Plus, it’s just so much harder to spy on workers when they’re not confined to their cubicles.

What she said, you assholes. GFY. You ain’t seen nothin’ yet. You fat cats have had it too good for too long, selling out your fellow Americans. If we had actual free markets, instead of Federal Reserve IV drip and cronyist “regulatory” agencies favoring the connected, a lot of you would never have made it to, or managed to stay, in the C-suites. You oughta see what work is, you whiny faggots. What, you can only afford half a grand Scotch now? Fuck off.

Oh, and P.S.: Anheuser, Disney, the razor guys, big sports, etc., who have woked themselves out of market share – fuck you too, suckers. What total spineless whores.. Die. Our last few dollars, pre-CBDC, will go to producers who deserve them. Like Goya’s CEO, for example.

Too many women in high positions whose outlook on life is socialistic. My experience is that when women are not included in high level meetings they get bitter rather than more dedicated to their work, which is what men do. Furthermore, in high level meetings where women are present the dynamic changes for the worse. Men are far more energetic about making money-making decisions for the company rather than fairness, equality and you-name-it. I love women. I don’t want them in meetings where manly decisions are to be made. And I particularly don’t like “manly women” in any case. Men are men and women are women and fuck a bunch of equality. They are not equal and each has a role to play in life to which they are best suited, naturally. Look at the Nineteenth Amendment and where we are today because of it.

I give you this: “You’d have to be a fool to be loyal to these people or care about their bottom line.”

If I want to be a “corporate boolicker.” What the hell are you saying? But there it is, a bitter woman wanting to make things better by being antagonized and in an uproar about masculinity. Sure things have gone to hell in many areas of life in America, yet do we look at real reasons or just the ones where Congress, full of women, and voters, more women than men, have made of society? What has this done to masculinity, by laws and societal movement instigated by women, the very species men who are masculine are born to protect? Well, you bitter women are reaping what you have sown, but everyone under the sun is going to suffer hardily. Socialism has never ever led to good, only bad. Wake the fuck up.

I wonder how many households have become single earner households since the pandemic and high inflation have increased the incentive to have someone stay home managing the household. Affordable childcare and the expense of owning a second car has probably affected a lot of families.

“…not commuting saves money”

Big money. And besides, by not commuting, not making a full change of office clothing dirty, not buying lunch or making plasticware dirty taking leftovers to work, and, truth be told, sometimes not showering on wfh days, think of all the planet-killing energy and water I’m not using.

And as for the “your lives were saved to serve this ship; row well and live” crowd: fuck you. Fuck you five times. I deal with some rich people in my job, and they are noticing working people aren’t willing to take their narcissistic shit anymore. And they’re very observably not liking it.

Oh, she has connections, all right, does Ms. Heinerscheid Horseface, and she did her mitzvah, by getting people to notice that Dylan tranny and making her shitty beer be promoted by any means (bad press is still press). The whole thing was a targeted marketing event that was pulled off to further two agendas, the globohomos and the Madison Avenue Irregulars.

That it was for the globos is obvious; but the MAIs are devious: they took a product whose demographic was getting older, and they know how the kids are indoctrinated nowadays towards all this fag nonsense, so they figured, “How do we get the kids to drink this?”

Well, by making the older ones look like they are a bunch of stupid bigots for boycotting their vile concoction because of the homo crap, that’s how. So now, youngsters will think they are being all hip and edgy by drinking that whatever-it-is, to really show those racist rednecks how much better they are because of their enlightenment, encouraged by the press.

Their strategy worked, didn’t it? Horseface got the credit because she was head of the marketing team; nobody lost any money, they killed two birds with one stone; they did the same thing they did with CONVID: sacrificed the old to get to the young.

As the economy weakens, I assume employers will gain more leverage. It is what it is. My feeling about working from home is that it’s fine as long as the worker doesn’t use their remote status as a way to avoid communication. Answer the phone. Reply to emails quickly.

2. Large corporations are like standing armies. They deviate inevitably from their initial purpose into self-promoting, self-protecting, power-gathering activities. Though they may have begun as liberators, they end as oppressors.

3. People employed by these large entities as ever seek to adapt so as to mitigate the oppression. Ironically, it is the power of these large entities that enables inefficiencies like “work from home.”

Lots of people worked from home before CONvid. My husband has worked from home since 2015. I went to work for Fedex in 2006 and they already had customer service agents working from home and had a goal to close all of their customer service offices and all agents working from home.

It’s not for everyone. Some people will inevitably slack off, usually the same people who would be slackers in the office. One can slack just as easily in the office it just takes a little creativity. Personally, I would not have liked to work from home as an agent. I would have quit.

If these corporate execs hate their workers so much then replace them with AI and see how that goes. I think it will not work out like they would like it to. AI is a big scam. It is useful for some tasks but you can’t replace everyone with AI. I think they know that and they are pissed.

I think these corporate execs would like to go back to the feudal system.

Maybe we need to give them the bad economy they are pining for. As someone commented, most of them can do nothing for themselves.
