Sounds like they’ve completely checked out. What do these teachers expect when they traumatized a bunch of children with their Covidian hysteria by forcing them to wear masks and socially distance themselves (i.e. not allowed to play) from other children. When I’m in public I notice ADULTS still look traumatized from the psy-ops mind control imposed on them. I can’t imagine what these kids went through mentally and emotionally during the scamdemic.

The stuff they were put through during the covid scam made things much worse, but most of this was going on before covid. I was being told not to show any video clip in my classroom longer than 7 minutes at one sitting in my classroom 6-8 years ago. Not that I listened, just like I didn’t worry about the covid stuff once we were in the classroom, shop, outside, etc. Got reprimanded over and over again for it too…

Agreed. Most of my issues in the classroom don’t come from my students, they come from the harmful administrative policies that are depriving them of the education and preparation that they deserve.

The long-term, muti-faceted program of dissolution of the family can’t have helped, either.

Don’t know if the Tweeter made up the phrase “Skinner boxes” for the occasion, but wow, does it ever fit.

When I worked as a child care (social worker) councilor it was most often not the kid that was the real issue but the govt paid administrators that were the biggest problems, and the F’d up parents who were most often either drunks or drug abusers, single parent homes.

I sympathize for these kids too. Evil always goes after the children first.

It’s the majority of the students. The obvious races with the average IQ of 80 and 85 are doing much worse than the normal children but it’s bad for the normal children too.
It is a complicated issue though, can’t just blame it on the kids and their abilities.
The schools in the US aren’t competitive and no matter how bad a school is it stays open.
Department of so called Education is making teachers teach in “new and improved” ways, that obviously don’t work.
The curriculum requirements are lowered to the lowest common denominator but still are made for the average IQ of 100 or so.
Parents are overworked but also lazy.
Social media.
Also the Regime wants stupid mindless sheep to follow orders without rhe ability to question so they promote it.
And there is much more issues and variables than I outlined.

I’m betting it was some big city public schools. My daughter worked part time as a reading teacher for special needs kids in a suburban community nearby and she was mostly impressed by the kids in the school. 100% upper middle class with about 70% white. It matters when they have both parents in the home and involved in their education.

By today’s standards. When I was in 4th grade I already had three years of foreign language and we were learning algebra. That was in an “inner city” school, not some elite upper class facility.

Public school standards lauded by filth like the Clintons and the low IQ bitch Laura Bush call for reading in fourth grade. None of my kids ever set foot in a public school until after high school except to kick their asses in basketball or volleyball.

I remember being excited about going to first grade and getting some real education in English literature. I was already reading Kipling, Milne and Lofting on my own and was pushing my abilities with my mother’s back issues of Analog.

And they handed me Dick and Jane.

The only thing I ever really learned in school, including college, was math, physics and chemistry.

And that was mostly due to lab access. I’d already read Einstein and Russel’s popular works by the time I was a teen.

I think fourth grade math is beyond addition, subtraction, multiplication and division – when you’ve moved on to word problems, basic geometry, fractions and decimals.

My guess is that most Americans don’t have mastery of those things. Proportions- cross multiplying and dividing, etc. No way. If people had to correctly answer questions like “what’s ten percent of 10,000?” before they were allowed to vote, we’d be better off.

Still, I’m sure it will get much worse.

Also, you sure never read any statistics about the miracle results of teaching the vaunted Common Core math curriculum.

In California a few years back, the bureaucrats in the Dept. of Education made a decree that all eighth grade students would now master algebra. Hilarious. The proclamation was quietly rescinded a couple of years later.

Chinese robot historians will look back and mark the year when facebook came out. Then the i-phone. And so on.

I just witnessed the bookends of this tragic epoch in one of my infrequent forays out of the hayfield. GenX parents with their college kids, who were raised entirely on various screens and in media alt-verses. And some younger parents with babies clutching at them for attention.

The parents can’t see it, the incrementalism having built up myriad behaviors over the years that are now summarily discharged as being a normal teenager. But to this cursed observer, there is a great void of life.

The less time you spend in their culture, the more of this hollowness you can see. To transit between, with some swath of time passing, is increasingly jarring. It is also accelerating.

The short attention span is a cute way of characterizing something much darker at work. It plays into the normalizing of the abnormal but also the moral self-license for the parents to chalk-it-up to the zeitgeist, beyond their control and thus indictment. Besides, there are “meds” for that.

Just as that low-grade, but grinding, anxiety paralyzing the kids for years has been codified into a spectrum of acceptable merit badges of dysfunction that the kids wear with pride and entitlement, as any honest college professor could tell you.

There is a massive failure to thrive in all metrics that used to mark the milestones of yesteryear that are now just chalked up in a big hugbox of manufactured normality.

Unlike when we were teens, these kids are content to lounge around home with their parents. Which of course is a reflection of how cool the parents are, not of the siloing, social decay, and habitual aversion to the gritty mishaps of real life that just happen to hone you into an interesting and capable adult.

The result are kids play-acting some avatar of a young adult they have adopted from the screen. They have the thousand-yard stares of soldiers returning from a war, and yet that war was never fought but rather completely capitulated, our captors being hailed as saviors ushering in this great Progress toward the singularity of Equality.

As my friend and his wife are interrupted by some emergent fussing from their beautiful and precocious daughter who had just prior informed us she was “two and one half years old”, there is some unseen impulse from the millennial mom that activates her hand to detach from her phone in one of the rarest of behaviors in the wild.

In the habit of my minds eye, still gripping the tattered sepia of the old set of books, I expect her to reach down and pick up the little angel. Instead, the mom’s eyes avert from the conversation just long enough to hand the phone to the little girl.

The video spooling-up before it hits her tiny dimpled fingers. The girl’s pupils pavlov into full moon and that same glaze of those child soldiers of Progress I saw at the college are right there over her blue eyes.

It all becomes plain. Sterile. The disquieting quiet settles in. And then the conversation with my friends drifts to something something about her job. “Oh, no, I went back to work right away after both our kids”. There was some laughter in her voice that held in the air like some RF signal pinging for hive authentication.

Between rounds of bacon-wrapped shrimp these conversations and situations repeat in a cacophony of voices, all Charlie Brown’s teacher, nonsense to my ear but compelling and oh so important to the shuffling adult-children of tomorrowland.

On the edges, where the intrusions of reality are discussed, there are only passing questions of the various signs of decline that are too inconvenient to ignore. I’d say ‘like the weather’, but even that pleasantry is sullied by the coming climate doom.

The Narratives mantras are repeated on cue while the Truth is a great mystery to them, or even the butt of so many jokes, as the Reaper himself sits under a tree smoking a blunt and waiting for the punchilne.

I picked the little girl up on the way out. Kissed her on the cheek, which she met with a squeak, and stole a little of that baby scent that the demons could never fake, as a selfish little reminder of why I left all of that for some hayfield in dirt county.

Treating infants like adults. What could possibly go wrong?….

Kindergarten teachers are realizing that most of their students were never potty trained.

Many teachers are asking themselves, why now?

Up until recently, kindergarten students were fully potty-trained and had been for years, with the exception of the occasional accident. After consulting with parents, teachers were surprised to learn the reasons their children were not potty trained, and why they had no intention of teaching them before they started school.

Some of them blamed it on the new parenting phenomenon “gentle parenting,” where parents hope to foster a healthy relationship with their children by validating their emotions and educating instead of punishing and respecting their individuality and feelings.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/lifestyle/parenting/teacher-explains-why-more-kindergarteners-than-ever-are-starting-school-still-in-diapers/ar-AA1heWMW?ocid=msedgntp&cvid=7a3867e0b3ca44c58928a065ca70ce3e&ei=85

lol. Nice strawman you’ve got there. Of course the article leads with a misrepresentation of gentle parenting and buries uninvested shitbag parents as the root cause:

Other teachers believe that parents are lacking to teach their children basic life skills and habits.

One teacher … [revealed] that she had noticed a “skill discrepancy” among her students, and not just when it comes to potty training. Maren, who teaches third grade, claims that during the previous school year, she had many students without disabilities or developmental delays who still did not know how to tie their shoes or zip their coats.

“They would just stomp their foot at me with laces all over the place and be like, ‘tie this!’”

Does that sound like they spend a lot of time around well-mannered role models?

And for the record, five-year-olds are not toddlers. A kid can potty train when they can walk. In places like India, and most of the rest of the world–where diapers are unaffordable–kids achieve self-sufficiency typically by one.
