A collaboration of: “The Classic Music Mafia”
Anthony Aaron, and Steve C.
Every Sunday morning we present selections for our TBP family to enjoy.
We present symphonies, ensembles, quartets, octets, etc.
Not all of our music is strictly ‘classical’. We may stray a little, but we strive to make all of our selections ‘classy’.
We offer tips on proper ‘symphony etiquette’ and even some selections that are a bit light-hearted and fun aimed at a younger audience. Those pieces will be so designated, and might be a good way to introduce kids to a world of music that they might not have been exposed to or think of as old and ‘stuffy’.
A full symphony will run as long as it will. We don’t want to cut a symphony short. However, we also include some shorter pieces that we try to keep under fifteen minutes in length. You can sample each and hopefully find one or more that pleases you.
We hope that you enjoy our Sunday selections.

Daniel Raiskin / Shostakovich: Symphony No. 10 in E minor, Op. 93
Residentie Orkest
Amare (10/02/2023)
The Following Four Pieces Come To Us Thanks To ursel doran.
Céline Dion ft. Jennifer Rush – The Power of Love
Here are two of the very best divas on one tune.
NEIL DIAMOND – BROTHER LOVE’S TRAVELLING SALVATION SHOW (LIVE-1986)
One of the additional great performers to go along with old Blue Eyes.
Roy Orbison – Oh, Pretty Woman (from Black & White Night)
One of the most famous and gifted male singers of all time here. The guitar riff in the middle by the VERY famous James Burton and Bruce Springsteen is worth the trip all by itself.
2023 08 10 Lindsey Stirling – Toccata And Fugue
Brand new to me is this lady violin virtuoso doing Bach’s Tocatta and Fuge on the violin.
The Next One Comes To Us Thanks To Current Mafioso Anthony Aaron.
Lindsey Stirling – Hallelujah – a Savior Is Born
She does this beautiful version of ‘Hallelujah’ live as a busker … a talented young woman who seems to truly love what she does …
The Next Two Come To Us Thanks To Leah.
Frank Sinatra – The Way You Look Tonight
Love Sinatra. Thank you for posting.
Frank Sinatra All of Me
And one more.

Continuing with the Bach Solo Cello works, sadly I was unable to find performances by Jacqueline du Pré. The soloists I have found for today’s performances are from the Netherlands Bach Society …
Bach – Cello Suite no. 3 in C major BWV 1009
Cellist Colin Carr sees the six suites as “Bach’s children at various stages of life”. Could no. 3 symbolise an overconfident student? Cellist Reinier Wink, the student of Bach Society cellist Lucia Swarts, who recorded the Cello Suite no. 1 in C major for All of Bach, thinks that in any case the key of C major suits his own stage of life, saying “young people are simply more often cheerful”.

Bach – Cello Suite no. 4 in E-flat major BWV 1010
Cello Suite no. 4 in E-flat major, performed by Bruno Cocset for All of Bach, is contemplative and philosophical, without the mood becoming truly elegiac. The Six Cello Suites follow a path from simplicity to increasing virtuosity. In the first three suites, the cellist could play a relatively high number of open strings, giving a high resonance and allowing the upper notes to sound freely. Here the sound is much darker.
Recorded for the project All of Bach on June 27th 2016 at the Royal Theatre Carré, Amsterdam.

Keith Jarrett – Endless
Keith Jarrett is another favorite soloist … I saw him perform in concert in LA in the early-’80s. He is classically trained, yet he has performed mostly jazz – either as a soloist or in a trio with the musicians here, Gary Peacock and Jack DeJohnette.
This is from their album ‘Changeless’, on the ECM label.
Keith Jarrett Trio – When You Wish Upon a Star
An oldie from the Disney interpretation of Collodi’s ‘Pinocchio’ …

Mei-lan – Beauty for Ashes (feat. Ben Blevins)
It’s been a while since I have featured one of Mei-Lan’s pieces here … it always brings a peace and tranquility to me – hopefully it will bring that to you, too.
“This song represents the beauty that forms from the contrition of the heart. When we go through difficulty, if we allow it, we can find the pearl that is formed from the challenge — the gift that lies in the shadow. Sometimes in order to feel the love within our hearts the walls we put around ourselves must be broken down.”
“The soul has been given its own ears to hear things the mind does not understand.” ~ Rumi

The Classic Music Mafia – Adding some class to this joint one Sunday at a time.
Heaven help us…
Thanks as always Sunday Music Crew!
I normally do not put up vids here as not a huge classical music fan but after talking with Prepper Cat he agreed that to a degree fits in with the classical Sunday.
A young lady with talent/easy on the eyes and covering a favorite Tull tune on mine, what’s not to like.
The birds singing in the background just a added bonus, enjoy!
I like the cat and the turntable … but here’s the original HMV image (His Master’s Voice) …
Not sure who to thank…Ursel Doran or Anthony Aaron, but,
Lindsey Stirling sure does bring a passion to her work.
Talented, beautiful, graceful. And a woman of faith, to boot.
Can’t believe I’ve missed out on her rise to popularity,
this being the first I’ve heard of her.
On another note, great to see you contributing, Leah.
She wears her Faith and performs her Music beautifully …
Thank you, SMC. Hope you enjoyed your Sunday.
As Yuja Wang is one of the most well-traveled and prolific performers, extracting a specific performance for sharing is difficult. Much of the attraction of the videos comes from the making of the video.
This one done at sunset in the town square in Munich is outstanding for the lighting and the quality of the camera work.
Lindsey Stirling – Toccata And Fugue
Wow, that’s freaking good.
Sure it just barely scratched the surface.
Very cool!
Never knew what it was called.
TOCCATA AND FUGUE IN D MINOR
😀 very cool as well!
Need to start listening to ALL the offerings. Again.
??? Actually REAL.
Bookmarking this one. Thank you for posting Sinatra. Also, thanks for introducing Ms Stirling. What a joy and I look forward to learning more about her journey. Was dancing to her rendition of Toccata and Fugue.
So interesting to learn how complex the organ is. So many moving parts.
Especially needed to hear something like Beauty for Ashes. It truly calms the soul in these times of chaos. Powerful.
