In 1976 my parent’s first home had an FHA loan hovering around 20% WITH mortgage insurance on top. My mom’s parents refinanced them themselves with a 15 year fixed at 3%. Talk about a nice gift!

If the mandates for EV sales are not repealed / rescinded, can you imagine the prices for used gasoline-powered vehicles will be in a few years? It might be worth buying a few new Corollas and putting them in storage for 10 years.
The problem will be finding fuel for them to burn. When their EV conversions don’t work, they will clamp down on refiners to reduce the supply, hoping that will create demand for their folly.
They may as well just start shooting people in the streets to achieve the same social unrest. They have no intention of enacting these future restrictions.
Actually those stats aren’t as bad as I thought. I think inflation, and shortages (no one ever talks about this?), on everything plus high rents/shortage of housing the worst for people. Very insecure if your shelter is threatened.
