World in need of new order, but not under US aegis — Kremlin spokesman in reply to Biden

Dmitry Peskov stressed that the world order should be based on international law, mutual respect, mutual benefit, as well as non-interference in each other’s internal affairs

MOSCOW, October 23. /TASS/. The Kremlin endorses US President Joe Biden’s statement that the world is in need of a new order, but Moscow does not agree that such an order can be built under the auspices of Washington alone, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told the media.

“We absolutely agree with Mr. Biden. This is a rare occasion when we absolutely agree with what he said. Indeed, the world is in need of a new order, [but one] based on entirely different principles [than what the US promotes],” he said.

The Kremlin believes that any future world order must be free of any attempts to concentrate all control mechanisms in the hands of a single country and of all attempts by a single power to impose its will and its decisions on other countries.

“There should be a world order based on international law, not on ‘rules.’ It should be based on mutual respect, mutual benefit, non-interference in each other’s internal affairs, and so on,” Peskov enumerated.

The Kremlin disagrees, however, with Biden on the other part of his statement, Peskov continued.

“Mr. Biden also said that the United States is capable of building such an order. We disagree with this part of his statement,” Peskov said.

He stressed that the US, “one way or another, whatever world order it may be talking about, has a US-centric world order in mind.”

“That is, a world that revolves around the United States. This will no longer be the case,” he stated.

You just can’t argue with the man. That’s exactly how people should treat one another. The old America has been squandered and defeated. Russia is the new white Christian icon.

“Russia is the new white Christian icon.”

Only if you are Orthodox. And I wouldn’t call the Orthodox church necessarily Christian.

The west will fall once more and civilization will shift to the east just as before in dark ages and Byzantium

Russia now sees Crimea and Ukraine as an internal affairs, and that is not surprising because they have been internal affairs for centuries. Ukraine was an area, not a country until quite recently, I believe the late 80’s or early 90’s. They would not have this problem except for the US meddling and overthrowing the pro Russian Ukrainian government in 2014. So the US has no right to point fingers. I would prefer to see Ukraine remain independent, but if it is annexed by Russia again I won’t be upset. Their history is intertwined since the Princes of Kiev ruled Russia and Moscow was a backwater.
