Iceland Declares Emergency As ‘Quake Swarms’ Signal Potential Volcanic Eruption

Via ZeroHedge

Authorities in Iceland declared an emergency and issued an evacuation order for thousands of people in a popular tourist town in the country’s southwestern Reykjanes Peninsula after quake swarms intensified in the last 48 hours – sparking fears that the next big volcanic eruption could be imminent.

“We want to reiterate that residents MUST evacuate their homes and leave the town. But we also want to reiterate that this is not an emergency evacuation, there is plenty of time to prepare, secure things and drive out of town calmly,” the agency said.

The Icelandic Meteorological Office’s latest update warned:

“The seismic activity has moved south towards Grindavík. Based on how the seismic activity has evolved since 6 PM today, along with results from GPS measurements, there is a likelihood that a magma intrusion has extended beneath Grindavík.”

It said:

“At this stage, it is not possible to determine exactly whether and where magma might reach the surface. There are indications that a considerable amount of magma is moving in an area extending from Sundhnjúkagígum in the north towards Grindavík. The amount of magma involved is significantly more than what was observed in the largest magma intrusions associated with the eruptions at Fagradalsfjall.”

Magma coming to the surface produced the first seismic activity on Oct. 25, and since then, 22,000 quakes have been reported.

In the last 48 hours, seismic activity has intensified with over 1,500 quakes.

Officials have elevated the volcanic warning system to “orange,” which means heightened unrest with an increased likelihood of eruption.

The US Embassy in Iceland also issued a volcano alert, warning about the increased signs of volcanic activity.

“If an eruption occurs, follow the instructions of Icelandic authorities. Volcanic hazards may include lava, toxic gases, and heavy smoke from fires ignited by lava,” the embassy said.

In 2010, nearly all flights in Europe and across the Atlantic Ocean were halted for a week as ash from the Eyjafjallajokull volcano sparked one of the most significant air traffic disruptions in peacetime until the Covid virus pandemic in 2020.

When you experience a very big quake, it sounds like a train is in your front yard. That’s the rumble of the shock wave. The thousands of after shocks is what freaks you out more than the big quake. It’s oh shit, not this again. It’s real footage. When you have experienced thousands, you know.

Yep.
Been through several since the first: The 1968 Borrego mountain quake.
The 1992 socal quake sounded like a freight train coming then, boom shake n bake for what seemed a long time.
Several aftershocks in 92

Off topic, but Pope Francis strikes again.

The likes of Father Rupnik (look him up, he’s been in the news the past year) are good, but the likes of Strickland are bad.

“When first appointed, he was known as the “blogging bishop,” writing uncontroversial posts on his personal website about faith and his hobby of running. He grew more outspoken as a critic of Pope Francis over time, forwarding Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganó’s explosive 2018 letter calling for the pope to resign to “all Holy Faithful of the Diocese of Tyler” and saying he found “credible” the letter’s allegations that Pope Francis had knowingly covered up former Cardinal Theodore McCarrick’s sexual abuse of minors and seminarians. After the Vatican published its investigation into the McCarrick case in 2020, Bishop Strickland walked back his endorsement.

Bishop Strickland was also a vocal critic of Covid-19 pandemic restrictions and of the vaccine. He signed a petition, reportedly prepared by Archbishop Viganó, calling the pandemic a “pretext” on the part of unnamed actors to manipulate people and restrict their freedoms, including freedom of worship. The petition called the pandemic restrictions “a disturbing prelude to the realization of a world government beyond all control.”

I think TPM meant “bad” sarcastically.

FYI, there is no current pope of the Catholic Church. Bergoglio (“Francis”) is an antipope. That’s why Strickland was removed from his post – because he castigated the fake pope publicly and called into question pope Gomer’s validity.

Sex with women who were not minors… they were nuns. And who knows who else.
This guy Rupnik has a higher body count than most heterosexual men. As a priest, no less.
The backstory is Rupnik was excommunicated a couple of years ago, but welcomed back just a month or two later.
He is a Jesuit, and a celebrated artist, even though his artwork sucks. So naturally, dipshit modernists can’t get enough of his terrible art and since he is famous they are compelled to overlook the fact that he is a lowlife who takes advantage of women and other people.
Rupnik was just kicked out of the Jesuit order a few months ago.
Despite all of this being known about him, he was just welcomed into a diocese by a Bishop somewhere in Europe about 2 weeks ago.

I live in Tyler, and I can tell you that this has not gone over well with Catholics here. They are not poor people, either, of course, and their school here, Bishop Gorman, is nationally-accredited with the Council. Suffice it to say, these Catholics have some stroke, and this is not the end of the tale. Retribution is in the plan.

Strickland was well-respected and represented his constituents. Under his purview the cathedral was upgraded (though it still looks like the old one, outside). The people here are in his corner — and they’re pissed off. The Mexican they sent up to take Strickland’s place might find himself stonewalled.

Nonetheless, they’ve all been infiltrated by freemasonry (or did you not catch that Strickland “had led the 33-county diocese since 2012?”) and their satanic “pope” is the leader. As long as they recognize Francis, they are implicit in his evil doings, same as with any of these “leaders” of the entire world. One of my friends who attends the diocese has said more than half of them are considering starting an independent one outside the reach of the Council — which would bring Catholicism full-circle, and nobody wants that.

It’s a hard choice. But it may be the only way to protect their Church.

Did not. Scanning for ‘relevant’ content only….

“Bishop Strickland had led the 33-county diocese since 2012, when he was appointed by Pope Benedict XVI. He was a priest of the Tyler diocese and served at various points as the diocese’s vocation director, apostolic administrator and vicar general.

Right above my Bold

NOT looking for “33” then, EZPZ after You pointed it out, Thank You.

The Binga-Bunga eruption in bumfark Indonicea must have added a bunch of material to the upper atmosphere.
What do these inputs do the climate models?

Ieeland had a similar problem in the early 1970s. John McPhee’s book “The Control Of Nature” documented it; if the lava flow would have reached one village, Iceland would have lost someting like 40% of their fishing fleet. Barely avoided economic disaster.
