The Giant Hand of Vyrnwy: There was this tree in Wales that was 124 years old, it reached higher than a 20 storey building (63.7m (209ft). It was damaged in a storm and had to be felled. Artist Simon O’Rourke carved what remained into this hand as a memorial, a last attempt to reach the sky.

That’s better than the idolatrous statue of liberty. Let’s hope he used the best preservative on it. Art is seeing and then helping others to see what is not apparent to the common eye and mind.
Nice words there.
Very cool. As a tree lover & hugger, I love this.
One of the most awe-inspiring moments in my life was seeing & touching the ancient Sequoias in California. My favorite tree.
Trees are one of the most reliably refreshing balms for this vale of tears.
A A – I agree. Muir Woods is one of my favorite places in the United States
Great detail by the artist. Beautiful.
Now consider how much more difficult it would be to do that with a huge column of marble.
Those statues by outstanding sculptors from long past centuries are awe inspiring.
Especially the ones that show all the nuanced details of the human body…limb and muscle shapes, facial contours.
The Pieta comes to mind.
Incredible.
Edit/add: Wiki is soliciting donations harder than a panhandler bum on a street corner.
The Pieta pic won’t show here.
A little help, plz?
Miss T? Anybody?
Sculptures that look like draped cloth are amazing.
T/Y! Agreed.
idolatry!
