Sounds like fun…
It is. You should try it.
But do not start with a 3 day fast.
Start small with a 12 hour fast and add an hour each week.
3 days of bourbon and water only and I have never felt better!
Cheers!
Salud!
and FJB!
prosit!
Prost! Ein Toast!
You could have just said fasting, and I would have known what you meant.
It’s hard with all these chicken and dumplings and biscuits and gravy hanging around.
hour 73…burn a doobie and eat 23,669 calories
};^D
Lather, rinse, repeat!
So what does your ‘intake’ consist of?
The sad fact is that everyone but the Amish are “intaking” someone else’s “output”…while the Amish are eating their OWN “output”.
Bottom line? We’re ALL full of “output”.
Me at hour 3:
https://news.mit.edu/2018/fasting-boosts-stem-cells-regenerative-capacity-0503
as little as 24 hours boosts stem cell production, as well as HGH
there are definite benefits to even moderate fasting
Either discipline or a pharmaceutical with bad side effects.
It works. I started with 259 blood sugar and finished with 97.
Auntie will have a gin and tonic to celebrate your terrific success. Cheers!
(Oh yes, fasting, Auntie does an 18 hour everyday, works great. Formerly Diabetic and now in full remission for over 20 years.)
I’ve actually been doing “time restricted eating”. Don’t eat before noon or after 8 pm. No alcohol makes it pretty easy. Hoping to do an extended (48-72 hour) fast soon. We’ll see.
Not drinking alcohol is a big deal if you need to lose weight, but after many years of inadvertent ‘intermittent fasting’ I do better eating 3 meals a day. Now if only I could find a cook…
I just did a 3 or 4 day fast, but I’m not sure it is what people are talking about since I was sick and just didn’t eat.
Influenza = A DNA mandated fast and toxic load shedding.. event.
I do similar daily fast. Nothing to eat after 5pm, then start next morning around 8am. About 15 hours total. Sleeping thru most of the fast is what makes it doable for most people.
I read somewhere that the impact is much greater if you can ramp it up the fast period to 12 hours…
i have been doing the intermittent fast 2hour eating window each day 22hrs fasting
been at it for six weeks, no sugar, no carbs, no milk, aka meat and veg, lost on
average 2kg,s per week, going for 12 weeks hope to get down to 90kg,s
You drink two kegs per week? I haven’t done that since high school.
For twelve weeks….must be wasted
what is that in Freedom Units?
It’s like 14 stone. Or about 55 haggis.
14 stone would be like a Hard Gross, right? I can’t actually count past zwölf.
Dr. Atkins approves of this message.
Who has 3 days to sit around ? I take one rest day in after a strenuous work day. Or two days if it snows.
I can’t imagine getting any equipment maintenance, property maintenance, or actual work done without eating 2 meals a day.
That’s been my experience. I fast whenever I take a day off- which is not very often- but I do notice it gives me an energy reset. If I feel like I’m not functioning normally, I take a break day and just putter, read, rest, drink plenty of water and skip eating. By the next morning I feel refreshed and back at full energy.
There’s definitely something to it.
The more carb dependent you are to start with, the more it will affect your ability to do things while fasting, because fresh carbs are metabolized first and you become acclimated to their constant availability.
If you are already a fat burner your abilities won’t take much of a hit at all.
You will be hungry, and being absorbed in work is the best way to deal with that.
The biggest problem with a three day fast is that you will be hungry the entire time. After the third day hunger shuts down. After seven days I have had to force myself to eat, because food had lost appeal.
I find a “starvation diet” the hardest. The influx of calories will prevent hunger from shutting down, and you will have to endure it for weeks, not days. It’s also important to make as many of your calories protein as you can and do resistance training to minimize muscle loss. You don’t want to lose a ton of weight (your goal is to lose fat, not weight) only to end up less lean, “skinny fat.” This is the principal cause of “diet failure,” regaining the fat you lost when you end the diet, because you still have a fat person’s metabolism.
Have done several 3 days and my energy goes up while hunger goes down dramatically.
Spot on…
Done 10 day fasts in the past and you are right, after the third day hunger disappears.
Still only one meal a day person, since forever. Younger days it was because I was to busy either working or partying, Today, if I were to eat two or three meals a day, I’d weigh three hundred pounds in no time. The body has functioned on one meal for so long that two or three would be like eating a Thanksgiving meal every day.
Who would ADMIT to having 3 days to sit around? THERE’S your stupid fucker right there!
Best way I know to lose your free time is to tell anyone you have it to begin with. NOT the best use of your free time!
I don’t see the connection between fasting and sitting around. In fact, the most likely reason I have fasted for two days is because I have been involved in something deeply enough that I never thought to eat.
But I’ll give you full marks for your second premise.
I’ve been water fasting two days a week for 36 years before discovering the incredible health benefits of longer fasts in 2017. Since then I have fasted 3 days a week and every couple of months a 5-day healing fast (or a bit longer if I need to lose weight.) The longest I’ve done is 10 days and that was just for shits & giggles. BTW – the longer I fast, the easier it gets. By day 3, I can fast forever.
I’m 72, excellent health & weight, zero meds.
Regular fasting works. Like any skill, it takes practice.
If you want to meet your creator, a forty day’s fast will get you there.
Be extremely cautious upon re-entry as your body will have to adapt to all the “new foods” in your diet… .. hmm. .. …probably best to attempt a long fast under expert medical direction.
