Used to drive about 50 miles to my in-laws for Thanksgiving. A local radio station in L.A. used to play this every Thanksgiving. Timed perfectly for the drive.

Arlo’s father was from a Baptist family of English and Scottish descent; and his mother was Jewish, the daughter of immigrants from Ukraine.[3] His maternal grandmother was Yiddish poet Aliza Greenblatt,[4] and country/western singer Jack Guthrie, who died when Arlo was an infant, was Arlo’s cousin once removed.[5]

Guthrie received religious training for his bar mitzvah from Rabbi Meir Kahane, who formed the Jewish Defense League. “Rabbi Kahane was a really nice, patient teacher,” Guthrie later recalled, “but shortly after he started giving me my lessons, he started going haywire. Maybe I was responsible.”

Arlo worked it in perfectly in later years. He said this song is 17 minutes long, the blank spot on President Nixons tapes were , 17 minutes long. Coincidence ?

A delightful Arlo G. video in his trademark style. Just over eight minutes.

Enjoy. Happy Turikiye (or however it’s spelled these days) Day.
