Ordinary Americans Are The Nation’s Unshakeable Greatness

Thanksgiving is a time for both festivities and reflection.

The United States has had the best of times and the worst of times, prosperity and depressions, the joys of peace and the privations and cruelties of war. But throughout these vicissitudes, there has been one bright constant: the decency of ordinary Americans unhesitating in risking that last full measure of devotion under the banner of liberty and justice for all.

That has been our inspiration and our deliverance from despair over our chronically flawed leaders earmarked by avarice, narcissism, megalomania, and duplicity.

The history of America is largely a history of the courage, industry, ambition, thriftiness, and selflessness of ordinary Americans.

The roots trace back to immigrants fleeing Europe at great risk in the quest for religious liberty and economic opportunity. They didn’t confront death for money. They sought to create a “city on a hill” as a beacon to all peoples seeking government by the consent of the governed.

Who started the American Revolution?

Ordinary farmers!

Remember the opening stanza of Ralph Waldo Emerson’s Concord Hymn:

“By the rude bridge that arched the flood, Their flags to April’s breeze unfurled, Here once the embattled farmers stood And fired the shot heard round the world.”

Ordinary soldiers suffered most at Valley Forge.

The American Declaration of Independence underscored the equal dignity of everyone from the highest to the lowest:

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”

The U.S. Constitution was established and ordained by “We the people of the United States.” Among other things, it expressly prohibits titles of nobility.

In other words, every man or woman is a king or queen, but no one wears a crown.

Alexis de Tocqueville in “Democracy in America” underscored that voluntary associations established by ordinary Americans were the nation’s most distinctive and vital sources of strength.

President Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address celebrated the sacrifices of ordinary soldiers who died that this nation might live, who risked that last full measure of devotion so that government of the people, by the people, for the people shall not perish from the earth.

Supreme Court Justice John Marshall Harlan preached, “[I]n view of the constitution, in the eye of the law, there is in this country no superior, dominant, ruling class of citizens. There is no caste here. Our constitution is color-blind, and neither knows nor tolerates classes among citizens. In respect of civil rights, all citizens are equal before the law. The humblest is the peer of the most powerful. The law regards man as man, and takes no account of his surroundings or of his color when his civil rights as guaranteed by the supreme law of the land are involved.”

The Statue of Liberty blazes forth with, “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore.”

Stand in awe at the Meuse-Argonne Cemetery and Memorial in France where lie the remains of more than 14,200 Americans who died in a war to end war.

Andrew Goodman, James Chaney, and Michael Schwerner gave their lives to secure civil rights for black people in Mississippi. Detroit housewife Viola Liuzzo was assassinated by the Klan in retaliation for advocating universal civil rights on the last night of the 1965 Selma Voting Rights March.

Not enough can be said about Jackie Robinson’s courage in confronting racism and shortstop Pee Wee Reese’s conspicuous friendship amid a howling assembly of bigots in the grandstands.

And who can forget 9/11 hero Todd Beamer on United Airlines flight 93 over Pennsylvania shouting “Let’s roll” on a suicide mission to prevent Al Qaeda terrorists from reaching their target?

The fundamental decency of the American people is demonstrated daily by the flood of immigrants seeking refuge and opportunity here. In contrast, China, Russia, Iran, North Korea, Burma, and sister tyrannies have few takers, a vote of no confidence.

America is an idea, not a race, religion, ethnicity, gender, or nationality. President Lincoln, in a message to Congress on July 4, 1861, taught that the leading object of government was “to elevate the condition of men—to lift artificial weights from all shoulders—to clear the paths of laudable pursuit for all—to afford all, an unfettered start, and a fair chance, in the race of life.”

But complacency we can’t afford. We must resist the temptation to strike Faustian bargains exchanging decency for self-aggrandizement or selfishness.

Never miss an opportunity for kindness, benevolence, or expressions of gratitude. It costs nothing. And you will make the world a better place.

The holiday of Thanksgiving is one of the last remaining aspects of traditional America that has survived the cultural revolution. For most Americans it is simply a part of normal life: a day off, a day to eat turkey, stuffing, and cranberries, a day to watch football and spend time with family. But the holiday itself has its origins in the Puritan founding of America, and this alone is reason for the ongoing cultural revolution to seek its destruction.

But for the growing number of those who wish to preserve the historic American way of life, the ideological battle over our holidays is one we are now willing to fight. For far too long, as the left assailed everything we love, the historic American sat idly by or even objected when anyone raised the alarm. “You are politicizing Christmas or Thanksgiving! Can’t you enjoy the time with your family!” Anyone who objected to our holidays being subverted was attacked, while those doing the subversion were given every benefit of the doubt. But now, as blissful lack of awareness of the revolution is impossible to maintain, our people are beginning to summon the will to stand up for what is ours.

And this is the point that we must understand deep in our bones: Thanksgiving is inevitably political. It is a celebration of a people who left a land that had severely persecuted them for their faith, to found a new Christian nation. This is unmistakably a political act. They came to the New World to establish a colony that grew into a nation.

For those of us who want that nation to once again be Christian, Thanksgiving is a reminder and a promise that there is still hope left.

What a load of bullshit. America was an experiment. It was an idea. It was the concept that ordinary people could be sovereign, which is the idea that you can own yourself, and to own your life. That was a revolutionary idea, as up to that point in time ever human on earth was the possession of a King or Emperor, who owned them like livestock.
By owning yourself, you would have certain inalienable rights, including the right to protect your life, and the right to own property. It would also mean you would own your labor, and have the right to your own opinions which you are free to speak. You would in fact to be free to live your life anyway you chose, so long as you did not infringe on another persons rights to do the same.
That all went out the window a long time ago. The original Americans were “pioneers”. They were people who wanted individual sovereignty enough to risk their lives in dangerous and difficult travels to get to a place where they could live free. They were willing to face danger and hardship once they got to this place to maintain their freedom.
The people who came to this place later were “settler’s” and they were much different than the pioneers. They were the people who would not stand up to Feudalism in their home countries, and would not risk their safety to come to America when it was dangerous to do so. They did not come to America for freedom, they came for prosperity.
As the settlers began to outnumber the pioneers, the soul of the country began to change, and the ways of Feudalism that the settlers were so comfortable with in their own countries began to grow.
We are now a country of people with few ethics and few morals. We are corrupt to the core, and that corruption infects every aspect of our lives. We are now the Feudal system that the pioneers that founded our country were seeking to escape. Freedom and liberty mean nothing to our people, who only hunger for wealth. We are not exceptional, we are not moral, we are only arrogant, in our beliefs we are superior to others as we exploit them and murder them by the millions without any regard for their right to live. Over a million people have died over the past 2 years because we profit from war and from the exploitation that war makes possible. We do not care, we are only concerned with getting what we want.

This indeed is the understatement of the year: avarice, narcissism, megalomania, and duplicity does not begin to describe the current situation.

I work hard at avoiding despair and work even harder at reducing my cynicism if we will work our way out of this corruption, incompetence, greed, and criminal war mongering. As a start, the vile nest of neocons in govt must be excised which probably will not happen.

Nothing against this article but I guess I will wait and see.

As is most of the article. That drivel was not on the Statue of Liberty originally; it was added by a zionist jew advocating for the dilution of our country by foreigners, not of European stock.
Stand in awe at the Americans who died for jewish bankers and bolshevism in a war that was not their own.
The ‘selma voting rights act’ was another jew backed deal to weaken the country.

‘America as an idea’ is crap also; this was not a propositional nation. Read what the Founders wrote – they said that the purpose was establishing this country for them and THEIR posterity, not for every thirdworld welfare sucker in the world. THEIR posterity; White, free men, with the basis of civil law perched well upon Christin concept. READ what the Founders wrote.
The original premise of this article is just about the only thing thats accurate – the strength of the country has and does indeed rest upon and within the actual American people. That is why (((they))) continue to try so hard to rid the nation of them.

Ordinary ‘Murkins got totally hornswoggled by the CoVid-19(84) psyop including:

1. LOCKING-FUCKING-DOWN (thanks Donald Trump.)

2. Complying with compulsory masking.

3. Not revolting over closures of schools, businesses, and churches etc.

4. Being OK with mandated injections of an experimental, emergency use authorized, genetic modification therapy with known and suspected nano-particle components inclusing graphene oxide. By government and business.

5. Participatioin with vaxxine passports.

6. Electing and re-electing politicians who expressly supported these totalitarian measures.

7. Not caring where trillions of their tax dollars are going in the pursuit of world-wide military adventurism leading to death and destruction of millions of people.

Ordinary Americans paved the way for the tyranny and don’t mind too much as long there’s cold beer in the fridge and something idiotic to watch on the Tel Avision.

So while ordinary Americans today are quite full of turkey and watching men in tights and helmets chasing a pigskin around a field, it goes now to EXTRAORDINARY Americans to destroy the great tyranny that wishes to enslave the world.

The writer starts off accurately that the strength of America is its ordinary people (identitarian) but ends with the hackneyed notion that America is an idea (abstraction). A nation is its people and their culture. An idea is not a people.
