Medvedev warns of direct Russia-NATO clash

Moscow and Washington are tiptoeing on the precipice of a hot war, former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has said, adding that the last similar crisis in relations dates back to the height of the Cold War in the early 1960s.

Writing on Telegram on Friday, Medvedev, who now serves as deputy chairman of Russia’s Security Council, weighed in on what he called US President Joe Biden’s “primitive blackmail” of Congress. He was referring to the American leader’s recent plea to lawmakers to approve a $111 billion security package, which included funding for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan.

To convince Republicans – who have been reluctant to support the measure due to a dispute over border security – Biden warned that Russia might not stop at Ukraine and go on to attack NATO countries, leading to a direct clash involving the US. His plea, however, failed to impress the Senate Republicans, who blocked the funding.

Medvedev said the Biden administration’s ploy “is nothing new.” According to the official, many US presidents in the past have said, “Give the money to our guy (fill in the name), or you will have to fight the Russians.”

The difference, Medvedev added, is that no American president has ever “extorted so much money for a minor country that is in the process of collapsing,” which is also connected to a corruption controversy involving both the sitting US president and his family members – in reference to allegations that both Biden and his son Hunter accepted bribes from a Ukrainian gas executive.

The former Russian president went on: “Never since the Cuban Missile Crisis has the threat of a direct clash between Russia and NATO leading to World War III been so real.”

The 1962 crisis brought the US and the Soviet Union to the brink of nuclear war after Moscow responded to Washington’s deployment of missiles in Türkiye by placing its own atomic assets in allied Cuba. The two superpowers narrowly managed to defuse the tensions by withdrawing their missiles from both countries.

Medvedev predicted that despite the gridlock in Congress, both the administration and its “cowering fosterling” in Kiev would get the money sooner or later, allowing all parties involved to continue profiting off the conflict.

Russia has repeatedly warned the West against sending arms to Kiev, arguing that doing so will only prolong the conflict while making it a direct participant in the hostilities. (RT)

Biden wants to keep Ukraine on life support until about 11 PM EST on election day 2024. The republicans want to hang “Biden lost Afghanistan AND Ukraine” around his neck (and – to a lesser degree – have Ukraine in the rear view mirror in case a republican wins the presidency). Of course, republicans don’t have the courage to say Ukraine has lost and that the whole project of fighting Russia to the last Ukrainian was as stupid as it was evil. So they’re blaming the hold-up of funding on border security – something they don’t really give a single shit about, but it’s an election year.

Biden wants to keep it going for as long as he’s pResident. There’s a lot of money to be diverted to his off shore bank accounts as long as they keep tossing billions in unaudited cash around. The greedy bastard will keep the war going as long as possible. In the sick.mind of the Big Guy the hundreds of thousands of dead are a small price to pay as long as he can get his 10%;

Biden thinks he is a master bluffer, but in truth he is only a masturbator. The US an NATO have nothing to fight a war with. They have drained themselves in a failed idiotic pipe dream to weaken Russia and all they have done is weakened themselves and strengthened Russia.
There are only 2 ways to go to war with Russia, a ground war in which the US and NATO would be demolished, or a Nuclear war in which the entire planet would be destroyed.
The US has spent the past 70 years building a military to fight flip flop armies, and flat out does not have the capability to fight a protracted land war against a real advisory.
The Russian’s on the other hand, have been preparing to fight NATO for 70 years and have everything they need to do so very effectively. In addition, any war declared against Russia by the west would trigger defense agreements Russia has with China and would most likely also include N Korea.
If the ass clown circus in the White House ever made a serious move to move US troops into Ukraine, Joe Biden and the idiots around him would be replaced by the deep state, and that may just be the plan….

“Never since the Cuban Missile Crisis has the threat of a direct clash between Russia and NATO leading to World War III been so real.”

I think it actually is true in a way, because almost all of the Cold War was fake and gay. It’s not a proveable statement until there is a war.

I am NOT for all this US aid for war fighting in the Ukraine. It is wrong. WRONG, but Russia has nothing to bitch about (and neither does China). I grew up in the 60’s and 70’s and watched and read about that mess in Vietnam all that time. We were supplying the south with weapons and helping them fight, and the Russians and Chinese were supplying the North with all they needed as far as weapons.
Korean War was no different in that aspect. There were even Russian MIG pilots that flew against American pilots. Though it wasn’t reported at the time, the radio communications between the Russian pilots and their people WERE intercepted by the Americans and we knew they were at it.
The mess in Israel and Gaza is not really new or different other than the scale of what happened and is happening on both sides. What IS different now, I believe, is the competence, at least, on our side to keep this stuff contained or at a “simmer” instead of a full on boil. It is the leadership in Washington and in Western Europe that seem all most infantile at times. The leaders in the 60’s and 70’s lived through a global war and feared another. Though aggressive, they were cautious as well. This modern bunch are dim wits. They actually believe it is possible to win global nuclear war.
Our people appoint men in dresses to high positions, believe men can get pregnant, and that it is impossible to define a woman.

“Russia has nothing to bitch about”

At that time it was the Soviet Union. Present day Russia hasn’t done squat against the US and even tried to join NATO.

The US was not supplying the South, that is a lie. The US was directly at war with North Viet Nam.
The US was in an immoral position in Korea and Viet Nam, and it is in immoral positions today in Ukraine and Gaza.
The US is a criminal cartel of evil….

And china was directly fighting along side North Korea but both sides in both wars supplied arms to the two proxy countries in each war. We have supplied arms to ALL the proxy fighters in all the proxy wars around the world, just as Russia and China supplied arms to the proxies they supported…everywhere, all the time.
I am not condoning it. I absolutely hate it. But that is fact then and fact now. The difference now is we are supplying a proxy, essentially IN Russia (at times) because the rubes in DC think we can win a nuke war if it comes to that. Read their defense papers and think tank reports. I HAVE!!

Big difference. In Korea, and Vietnam, you had people fighting for their own countries. These were governments that were allies of the US during WW2 and who the US fucked as soon as the war was over. Ukraine has been part of Russia for hundreds of years, and the people in east Ukraine still consider themselves Russian. The Russians are on the side of morality by putting an end to Ukraine’s attempted genocide against the Russians in Ukraine, Just as the Zionists are trying to commit genocide against the Palestinians. In both cases, you have the US on the side of genocidal governments who are engaging in wars against humanity. The US is now on borrowed time.
