WE didn’t allow it to happen – likely it’s just one of those things that happens throughout earth’s history: the majority of the population becomes habituated to easier living, questioning nothing, while the parasites of the species infiltrate the rule making mechanisms and DUPE the lazy unintuitive minded. It’s all lessons anyway – next life around hopefully more people remember their previous mistakes and will then have an opportunity to move up the ladder.

-circa 2023, there’s still a herd of sheep wandering the streets of Philly, making puddles, though, instead of drinking from them. Modern ones are 2-legged, and they too, probably defecate wherever they roam in the streets.
-that bingo hall smoke filled haze…I coughed just looking at that. Imagine if ganja. Holee smokes.
-there’s some beauties in the Miss Universe pageant in ’52. One shudders to think what the representatives of the same lineup of countries would put forward in 2023.
