Local media, The Lancaster Patriot, reports that the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture served an all-natural Amish farm in southeastern Pennsylvania with a search warrant on Thursday afternoon.

The farmer, Amos Miller, has been in the crosshairs with the US Department of Agriculture because of his repeated failures to comply with federal farming regulations.

The USDA has tried to bring Miller’s farm into compliance with federal regulations, but Amos has yet to cooperate with the Feds and faces fines and jail time.
A Pennsylvania State Police spokesperson said:
“The PA Department of Agriculture is conducting a search warrant on this property. Troopers from PSP Lancaster are just assisting with scene security. You will have to reach out to the DOA for information on their investigation.”

According to LancasterOnline, Miller and the Feds have been locked “in a standoff over his compliance with federal food safety rules and failure to pay assessed fines.”
With his sovereign citizen defense, Miller has tried to thwart the Fed’s overreach to get him to comply with food safety rules. He sells all sorts of food to more than 4,000 buyers, such as organic eggs, raw milk, grass-fed beef and cheese, and fresh produce. He doesn’t use electricity, chemical fertilizers, vaccines, or petroleum products in farming.
Commenting on the raid, Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) said, “Looks like Amos Miller’s farm is being raided. With all of the problems in society today, this is what the government wants to focus on?”
Massie continued, “A man growing food for informed customers, without participating in the industrial meat/milk complex? It’s shameful that it’s come to this. ”

I read somewhere he IS in compliance because he has a club, or the buyers have shares or something (whatever the term- you need to join). Many are doing this especially in the raw milk arena.

Of course it’s beyond ridiculous to tell people what they can or cannot do with their own money, especially when it comes to something as fundamental as buying food. Arguing that the government is practicing overreach is too simplistic, that’s what they do. Governments are extortion rackets and this guy isn’t paying his protection fees, so they have to make an example of him or other people will start to catch on to the idea that you don’t need government involvement in your day to day business and who knows where that will lead.
Having said that let’s not pretend that this guy is also some small time farmer selling his milk and eggs, he’s a wholesaler. His operation involves buying up excess from other farms and distributing further afield then his local community. His fault wasn’t in selling unpasteurized cream, it was going up against Sysco. If you’ve got thousands of customers, you’re now stepping on the toes of people who pay big time protection fees to the government and they’re the ones who called in the enforcers.
It isn’t possible to stop small time farmers from selling to local customers, I know because they came after us for years when we raised tilapia and were starting to expand our market. We learned that there are levels of protection that you must not cross, that the very last thing the folks at Health and Human Services Food Safety Division care about is food safety, health or humans. They care about keeping their jobs, they care about limiting competition, they care about controlling ambition and innovation from creating anything of real value because those things lead to independence and the knowledge that government is criminal racket.
The thing that weakens them the most isn’t a competitor trying to take over their operations or expand into their territories, it’s people discovering how to live without rising to the level of being governable. They need us more than we need them. What we don’t need to do is to become them.
Step away. Use less. Stay local. Learn how to find happiness in things other than financial success and to share those things with people you know and care about and with whom you share the same values and beliefs. Their system is dying, you can see it with your own eyes. Everywhere you look you see failure and collapse of everything they touch because none of it is based on reality or the natural order.

And yes the price is a bit higher, not by much, but any difference in cost is offset by increased quality as well as the assurance that when the shan meets the fit my family will have food on their plate.

Same. I’m mostly apprehensive of the meat sold in the grocery store. I’d rather pay more to one of our local ranchers. So we do. And the meat is fabulous. I raise and process my own meat birds and eggs. Oddly enough, even when one of our eggs has a shell covered with chicken poo, I’ve yet to get sick with an over light egg. Shouldn’t I be dead or sick?
Eggs do NOT have to be refrigerated either. They can sit on the counter for two weeks with zero issues. Just do not wash them. If they are soiled, wipe them lightly with a damp cloth, that is all thats needed.
