On his January 11 headlines, Henry posted this video of Jack Denmo, a twenty-something Canadian man: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QH9QVme2LM8. Jack gives an example in the video of young people going broke just so they could take vacations every month in order to post selfies.
In another example, young losers spend all their money getting bottle service at a club for one night only…..to take selfies of the event, naturally. The main premise of this video is that people lead fake lives on social media, aggrandizing themselves when their lives are otherwise empty and impoverished when the camera is not on.

In modern life, especially to the younger generations–but certainly not exclusive to them–these sins are encompassed in posting photos and videos on social media.
PRIDE GOETH BEFORE DESTRUCTION
Let us start with the sin of pride. Here’s what wikipedis says about it: “Pride (superbia), also known as hubris (from Ancient Greek ὕβρις) or futility. It is considered the original and worst of the seven deadly sins on almost every list, the most demonic.[38] It is also thought to be the source of the other capital sins. Pride is the opposite of humility.”
Talking selfies of ourselves on lavish vacations and living it up in clubs were given as examples of how we show off, but have you seen people who post photos of what meals they’re eating and the (sexy) clothes they are wearing?
As C.S. Lewis says in his book Mere Christianity, which was voted the best book of the 20th Century on religion: “Unchastity, anger, greed, drunkenness and all that, are mere fleabites in comparison: it was through Pride that the devil became the devil: Pride leads to every other vice: it is the complete anti-God state of mind. Pride is understood to sever the spirit from God, as well as His life-and-grace-giving Presence.”
WHAT ABOUT ALL THE OTHER SINS?
Isn’t the whole point of social media posting to create envy? Wikipedia chimes in: “According to St. Thomas Aquinas, the struggle aroused by envy has three stages: during the first stage, the envious person attempts to lower another’s reputation; in the middle stage, the envious person receives either “joy at another’s misfortune” (if he succeeds in defaming the other person) or “grief at another’s prosperity” (if he fails); and the third stage is hatred because “sorrow causes hatred”.
And as St. Thomas Aquinas alludes to, the three stages of envy in attacking another person’s reputation, schadenfreude, and hatred will cause wrath. A real-world example I can give would be a woman flaunting her surgically augmented breasts paid for with child support money.

And that leads us to lust. Have you ever seen the dignified nude statues and paintings of women (and men) in past ages? Compare them to modern selfies. The old nude statues and paintings portrayed dignified faces, not the “come hither” look that evokes lust in modern photos people post on social media.
Why the sexy, lustful gazes in modern selfies? Maybe the underlying reason is greed. It could be greed to attract a rich partner, greed to promote ad revenue, or greed to be the new generation’s most sought-after job in polls: a media influencer.
And although the last couple sins of gluttony and sloth might be reaching just a bit, why post photos of lavish meals? What do you think a photo of a medium-rare steak and a glass of red wine might provoke in people? The rest of us are supposed to be eating bugs. As for sloth, I can’t think of a worse waste of time that spending one’s life recording everything one does, and then doubly-wasting one’s time by editing videos, retouching photos, and then posting it all on social media.
CONCLUSION
I have seen some pretty outlandish behavior by people on vacations, especially, in trying to get the perfect photo of themselves in their bathing suit on a beach, or placing their food perfectly on a table to be captured by the camera and then not eaten. I’m sure you have your own examples, too.

I do not notice people taking selfies. Maybe they are and I just tune them out. What I do see are people sitting at a table and every single one of them is looking at their phone.
Sometimes you just can’t help but notice. For example, I was at a motel last month. I looked out my window and saw some hijab wearing bitch APPARENTLY photographing the interior of my Cadillac in the parking lot. She was actually taking a selfie using the business’ signage as a backdrop, but she appeared to be casing my car for a robbery.
Needless to say, a conversation immediately followed and that’s how I found out the truth of the incident.
In the times shortly to come, some stupid shit like that could get you killed with NO CONVERSATION at all.

It is the complete inability to live in harmony with earth OUTSIDE the beast system.

sorry but not true. I had to get a phone after Mrs. L passed, for MY convenience. When asked for a phone # I use a 15 yr. old (obsolete) # from Magic Jack, an early VOIP purveyor. $250.00 for a year of service and an $80.00 Cat brand flip phone included. (~ $20.00/month!)* Mint Mobil*. I don’t and wont text, have a band aide over both cameras and never taken a photo. I use my phone to make phone calls, ONLY . If someone demands a #, I also use Mrs. L’s #, I took her phone to target practice, it did not survive.
Glad you’re working with Linux, I lost windows about 10 years ago and since I’ve only had hardware issues, never OS problems! Why pay to be spied upon and herded? Linux has a huge support community if you need help, many many vids on spewtube as well. Brave browser and Adblock plus are your friend!

Communicating the need for salvation would be more effective if people thought of sin not in terms of individual acts, but rather a state of being. It is impossible to be alive and not sin. Consider…

Adam moved from potential everlasting life (had he eaten of the tree of life) to a cursed state of certain death, living on an earth that would no longer cooperate with his efforts to work it. We exist in sin/death cursed bodies, are surrounded by sin cursed people and live on a sin cursed earth. Physically sinning is wholly and completely unavoidable. Every breath taken feeds this body of sin and death.
(Some will ask: should we then feel free to “live like the devil” and “sin” all we want? Of course not… It was human sin put Christ on the cross in the first place. Romans 6…)
There will come a time when a certain act proves to be mans ultimate downfall, the taking of the mark, but that time is not yet. That choice will be stark.
To be “freed from sin” is not “ceasing to sin”, it is impossible. We sin because we are sinners; we are not sinners because we sin. To be freed from sin is to be “dead”, as it is only when dead can we “stop” sinning. Romans 5…
Christ offers us not only His death on our behalf, but His burial and resurrection from the dead to “new life” as well. Not physically, but judicially. Salvation, once the freely offered gift is accepted, judicially kills the man to sins curse (the circumcision made without hands, Col 2:11) whereby he is “free from sin” (while existing still in these corrupt earthen vessels) and fit to join his Savior in the heavenly places. Fit to share the gospel of the grace of God and to condemn all forms of works based religion. Salvation is about what HE did, not what we may or may not do.
Colossians 3:1-3 KJB… “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.”
Think not in terms of sins (plural), think in terms of sin, the indelible mark can only be cleansed by the blood of Christ.
Having failed at works righteous and self-righteous attempts to resist sin, I finally had to give up and let Jesus Christ handle it for me. He is much better at it. I still don’t fully understand how it works, but it does.

The big trouble with Vanity/Pride is we become unteachable. You surrendered and showed your humility. Therefore you became teachable. Your story above shows your great humility. Thank you. Spiritually inclined people always have great humility.
It is enough that you DO know it works…and works consistently within its defined parameters. Where we get into trouble is when we wander outside the borders of that protection.

Chinese tourists around Alaska for a couple summers. It was just completely comical. They would take a few picture of the most beautiful sites n the world. Denali Park, Kenai Fjords, etc…, and then 100’s of pictures, first the daughter, then the wife, then the whole family, and then they would ask me to get in. This was at every stop.
Now if I could just keep my temper subdued. 🙂
