I am currently reading Konrad Heiden’s 1936 book “The Fuhrer”. Heiden, a staff reporter for the Frankfurter Zeitung wrote it after he had been banished out of Nazi Germany. It was then that he had the time to do the complete the write up of hitler’s rise to power publishing in London first in 1936. The many parallels in the book as to what is going on today are uncanny as Branco’s cartoon is not far off. After attending a rally in 1923 Heiden assessed him as “complete nonsense” ending up finally as a danger to Germany and closely followed him until he left finally ending up in America in 1944.
I wonder … is it important to know that Heiden is jewish?
