I will keep this brief.
I am saddened that Llpoh (Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness) chose to leave The Burning Platform. He has contributed many valuable articles and comments to TBP, but he took exception to the negative reaction to his remarks over on the “Strong Retail Sales” thread. Too bad. I’m pretty sure he was the only Choctaw Indian on this site.
The many or few reasons Llpoh bailed out of this platform are known only to him. This much is clear. A lot of people disagreed with him. Strongly. If you want to read a classic morality thread on the Internet, I invite you to put “Strong Retails Sales” in the Search Box at the upper right and follow the comments.
That said, we have lost a valuable contributor to free-wheeling, intelligent, and uninhibited comment to issues our nation faces. TBP is such a forum for those willing to step into the fray.
And while I’m on my soapbox extolling the free-for-all that exists on this great forum, just remember one simple rule. NO NUDITY!!!! This type of pic, however, is perfectly acceptable. Wow, those are some really big ……… sunglasses.

I’ve been through that thread a couple times, and I’m still not sure that Stucky didn’t just dopple him and Llpoh is just sitting at his computer laughing his ass off at all of us.

llpoh will be back, at some point everyone gets into an argument on the internet or in person over an issue that they see 100% clearly and gets disappointed in those he/she was discussing it with when they vehemently oppose their view. we all need a break from time to time (especially when you are the one that is actually wrong).

I actually did not dopple llpoh even once in that thread.
Llpoh set the TBP record – probably for ALL TIME – in terms of the number of comments “Hidden due to low comment rating”
Why? All because he felt that Calamity, a waitress (among other things), did not report all her income. That Calamity – and us people who either support her, or do the same – are responsible for The Downfall of America.
Overall, a pretty silly reason to “leave” TBP. Then again, everyone has their “hot buttons” about which one has STRONG feelings. However, I thing the strong feelings have more to do with the HUGE number of thumbs down votes. Llpoh has said on numerous occasions that he doesn’t give a shit about thumbs down …. however, to quote the great Bard, “Me thinks thou protesteth too much”. A proud man like llpoh surely was offended by the near total lack of support.
But, I would like to say to llpoh (who IS reading this); — DON’T TAKE IT PERSONALLY!!! Most of us love ya!! You should be proud that you were part of one of the most epic Shit Flinging Fests of all time. You are a living legend. C’mon man!! Shake it off. We have short memories.
Take some time off, my friend. Get your bearings straight. Many of us have needed to do so. Come back stronger than ever. We’ll be waiting for you. We’ll even keep the lights on
I have thought a great deal about that thread. One of the things I most appreciate about TBP is that it forces my brain out of its tendency towards lethargy.
If I was Llpoh, I would have left too. Many comments went way beyond the usual free-for-all and (usually) good-natured name calling that characterizes a lively thread. Llpoh did his share of put-downs and (in my view) inappropriate name calling as well as several,others.
However, as the thread went on, it began to remind me of hyenas going in for the kill. There was glee that the Old Dog and his stand for honesty even when it costs you was being bested by a sassy damsel who was proud to game a system for her own benefit. My point is not that one was right and the other wrong; we live in a gray world where both are right and both are wrong.
My discomfort came from the complete vindication and celebration of one party over the other, when the other had a valid philosophical view. And it was done with disdain. May this episode as a cautionary tale about how to drive away respected members of the TBP community.

I hope Llpoh comes back, I always look for his stuff here. We disagree often, argue sometimes, but he is one of the smartest people on this forum and I appreciate him just for that. I would gladly trade Calamity for Llpoh with a side of silicone tits.
As for him being back, I kind of doubt it. Llpoh had a pretty good dose of pride, and seemed to feel pretty strongly about this point. I’m sure he’ll lurk occasionally, but thats the extent of it.
Just to be clear though – I don’t mean that as an either/or. As I said on the Retail Sales thread – neither one should leave, but least of all Llpoh.

Sigh….it will be a shame if he doesn’t come back. I also alwsys looked for and read comments from him – he is a very smart man. I really really have to stop getting attached to/caring for the commentors here……. they leave and break my heart dammit.
I have the deepest respect for LLPOH and made it a point to read the threads he commented on.
I was semi-serious and was winding him up a bit the previous day when he “lost it” over a kid pissing in front of his family. It seemed to me at the time that something was bothering him.

LLPOH got clobbered because he argument was lame, pure and simple. He won’t be missed by many, but there is absolutely nothing keeping him from coming back to TPB but himself. That is freedom at its most basic.

Llpoh is/was one of the best. His insights are lazer sharp, with no room for equivocating. Not sure if he’ll be back, but I sure hope so. Here’s another one looking forward to his economic exit plan, among other things.

Well fuck me. Llpoh commits TBP seppuku and I missed it. I spend an hour or two a day, on average, on this fucking site and still manage to miss the most entertaining threads, although for some weird reason, I manage to catch all of admin’s, “this is just to prove I’m not a boomer” video threads that nobody comments on, except SSS (to say they suck).
