If you dialed 911, the cops are at least 20 minutes away. Pill heads and meth heads are everywhere.
It was a little disconcerting for the guy who just wanted to know who put our fencing up, seeing an armed man greet him while holding on to a big black dog who just wanted to taste the new chew toy… but he got over it. Every time he drives by, we waive at each other…

I got a buddy who has 3 big dogs, including a black lab, a mastiff, and an akita, I think, that’s the breed-she looks like a wild wolf. Anyway, whenever they come back from town to their neighborhood, which is in the country and kind of trending down, they often find flashlights, gloves, crowbars, etc left inside their gate. Apparently, the burglars and crooks in the area often hop the fence, but once they meet the dogs or get to the door and hear the dogs, they tend to beat feet for the exit.
Where I live, we got a nasty little neighborhood full of illegal aliens and other minorities. The cops are in there all day dealing with their problems. When we moved here, a cop told us to stay as far away from that neighborhood as possible. You can see the crime reports now on My Neighborhood, or whatever the site is, including a recent armed robbery at our grocery store and a guy who had an entire wheel stolen off his car one night. There is no reason on Earth why I would believe disarming me would make me safer from everyone else.
BTW-I was very interested to note my local Walmart is now stocking .50 cal ammo. What a surprise! I’ve never seen that stuff on sale in a Walmart ever, let alone out here. The clerk told me they’ve only sold 1 box of it so far, which is actually kind of surprising-who the hell shops for .50bmg at Wally world? At 3.70+/- a round, it wasn’t a bad deal, either.
