WHO NEEDS A JOB WHEN YOU HAVE UNCLE SAM?

It seems 24.3% of all black families have no one working. NO ONE.What do they do all day? Are they volunteering? Are they picking up trash in their neighborhoods? Not in West Philly, as the streets are littered with garbage. In West Philly they line up for hours on Thursday mornings to get free food from the city. Then they drive back to their low income housing gated community in their new Chrysler 300.

Only 11.1% of Asian families have no one working. Even Hispanics only have 14.9% of families with no one working.

Based on my observations, the number is at least 50% in West Philly. I’d love to see the figures broken down between the urban Democrat run shitholes and the rest of the country. Or would that be racist?

The Real Unemployment Rate: In 20% Of American Families, Everyone Is Unemployed

Submitted by Michael Snyder of The American Dream blog,

According to shocking new numbers that were just released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 20 percent of American families do not have a single person that is working.  So when someone tries to tell you that the unemployment rate in the United States is about 7 percent, you should just laugh.  One-fifth of the families in the entire country do not have a single member with a job.  That is absolutely astonishing.  How can a family survive if nobody is making any money?  Well, the answer to that question is actually quite easy.  There is a reason why government dependence has reached epidemic levels in the United States.  Without enough jobs, tens of millions of additional Americans have been forced to reach out to the government for help.  At this point, if you can believe it, the number of Americans getting money or benefits from the federal government each month exceeds the number of full-time workers in the private sector by more than 60 million.

When I was growing up, it seemed like anyone that was willing to work hard could find a good paying job.  But now that has all changed.  At this point, 20 percent of all the families in the entire country do not have a single member that has a job.  That includes fathers, mothers and children.  The following is how CNSNews.com broke down the numbers…

A family, as defined by the BLS, is a group of two or more people who live together and who are related by birth, adoption or marriage. In 2013, there were 80,445,000 families in the United States and in 16,127,000—or 20 percent–no one had a job.

To be honest, these really are Great Depression-type numbers.  But over the years “unemployment” has been redefined so many times that it doesn’t mean the same thing that it once did.  The government tells us that the official unemployment rate is about 7 percent, but that number is almost meaningless at this point.

A number that I find much more useful is the employment-population ratio.  According to the employment-population ratio, the percentage of working age Americans that actually have a job has been below 59 percent for more than four years in a row…

Employment Population Ratio 2014

That means that more than 41 percent of all working age Americans do not have a job.

When people can’t take care of themselves, it becomes necessary for the government to take care of them.  And what we have seen in recent years is government dependence soar to unprecedented levels.  In fact, welfare spending and entitlement payments now make up 69 percent of the entire federal budget.  For much more on this, please see my previous article entitled “18 Stats That Prove That Government Dependence Has Reached Epidemic Levels“.

And what is even more frightening is that more families are falling out of the middle class every single day.  As a recent CNN article explained, approximately one-third of all U.S. households are living “hand-to-mouth”.  In other words, they are constantly living on the edge of financial disaster…

About one-third of American households live “hand-to-mouth,” meaning that they spend all their paychecks. But what surprised the study authors is that 66% of these families are middle class, with a median income of $41,000. While they don’t have liquid assets, such as savings accounts or mutual fund holdings, they do have homes and retirement accounts, with a median net worth of $41,000.

“We don’t expect them to be living paycheck to paycheck,” said Greg Kaplan, study co-author and assistant professor of economics at Princeton University.

The American Dream is rapidly becoming an American nightmare.

When I was growing up, I lived in a pretty typical middle class neighborhood.  Everyone had a nice home, a couple of cars and could go on vacation during the summer.  I don’t remember ever hearing of anyone using food stamps or going to a food bank.  In fact, I can’t even remember anyone having a parent that was unemployed.  If someone did leave a job, it was usually quite easy to find another one.

But today, the middle class is being ripped to shreds and according to one new report there are 49 million Americans that are dealing with food insecurity in 2014.

How can anyone not see what is happening to us?  America is in the midst of a long-term economic decline, but the mainstream media and most of our politicians seem to think that things are better than ever.  They continue to try to convince us that “business as usual” is the right path to take.

But one-fifth of the families in the entire nation are already totally unemployed.

At what point will we finally admit that what we are doing right now is simply not working?

30 percent of all families unemployed?

40 percent?

50 percent?

If we stay on the road that we are on now, things are going to continue to get worse.  Millions more jobs will be shipped overseas, millions more jobs will be replaced by technology and crippling government regulations will kill millions more jobs.  The middle class will continue to shrink and government dependence will continue to rise.

Most people just want to work hard, put food on the table, pay their mortgages and provide a nice life for their families.

But the percentage of Americans that are successfully able to do that just keeps getting smaller.

Wake up America.

Your middle class is dying.

I haven’t read Atlas Shrugged in a long time, started up again, on page 170 or so, fucking amazing. The middle class died a long time ago, just kept alive by artificial means, the power cord is pretty frayed and starting to smoke.

Stopped in a pawn shop yesterday, always like to check for shotguns and silver. The guy didn’t have shotguns, had some silver but didn’t want to part with it. I asked why, we had a short chat about the reserve currency, how we will lose it, how PM’s, guns, ammo, tools, and a barter system will become the norm, after the shit storm of course.
This guy understood, said his wife and many of his friends were clueless, but it’s amazing to me how many people I talk to can see the storm brewing.
Two weeks ago, up in bumfuck Northern Michigan, talking to a local at the small grass strip airport, he brought it up to me after we talked about no jobs around here, town is dieing, etc, “Yeah? he said, When we lose reserve status then…”
I was surprised, but he said a lot of his neighbors can see the storm as well and all are preppers.

It has been a blessing to have had as much time as we have had to prepare. The situation in Ukraine is quite possibility the end game for the dollar, and the administration and neocon tools seem perfectly okay with taking the country over the falls. The vast majority here still buy into the R/D false dichotomy. They will blame the other side, totally clueless as to their complicity as they leave Walmart, Target and Costco with their baskets full of the American Dream. The good news is that those of us who recognize it will likely come out the other side of the meat grinder intact.

But Obama and Grandma Yellen told me the unemployment rate is 6.7%. There’s 60 million more people getting free shit from the government than have jobs?

It’s a full time job, keeping the economy going by being forced to use up your SNAP and EBT benefits every month. You have to drive the new car you got with your $10,000 earned income tax credit, which takes effort. It’s takes effort to walk into the store and climb aboard the scooters, and it takes effort to fill your cart with ten pound bags of donuts, cokes, Doritos, and potato chips. It takes effort to load them in the car, then unload them. It takes effort to use the remote on the TV, and it takes effort to have sex so you can squeeze out more welfare babies and double or triple your benefits. It makes me tired just thinking about all the effort the FSA has to expend every day. And getting off the couch to go voting every other year is just exhausting. I’ll bet those 20% of the population, and the 112 million on welfare/disability wonder every day if it’s worth all the effort.

Given that FRED® is the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis I would say the actual numbers of families with no workers is higher than stated.

Dallas has been shuttering it’s projects and many of the outlying apartments and renters have starting taking section 8 (which pays 80% of the rent) its a guaranteed monthly check for the renter but the problem is what comes with it. Gang bangers, drugs, sloth, trash on the streets, drunks walking to the local Seben Leben for a 40. And its not just blacks. I saw a white woman stroll around Tom Thumb and eat a huge jar of Planters Dry Roast Peanuts by pausing in the aisles while stuffing her face. No telling what else she managed to scarf down, she was still there when I left.

20% of families with NO ONE working.

Wow, that’s a stat I never knew before. That’s why I (we) love this place. A never-ending source of new knowledge.

When people aren’t productive members of society they eventually hate themselves. It doesn’t matter what color of skin they have. It may not seem that way … as they seemingly enjoy all that free shit. And of course it doesn’t apply to every person.

Depression. Self loathing. Blaming others. Anger. Helplessness. Eating poorly. Drinking, smoking pot, or picking up other bad habits. Loss of control. Eventually, violence.

I’m no bleeding heart liberal. I’m not making excuses for anyone. But, living on hand-outs comes with a terrible price.

“living on hand-outs comes with a terrible price.”

To society? To the people getting free shit? It comes at a terrible price to people that have to work and support these parasites. Imagine having to go to work every day, and drive by your neighbors house, and they’re sitting on the porch with their mulatto welfare babies, smoking weed, and they wave goodbye to you while they’re enjoying the nice Spring weather. Their only job, to consumer and reproduce, like cockroaches. Does this make you happy?

The welfare queens revel in getting free shit. They’re talking on their free phones all day and night. They’re dining on crab legs and lobsters. They’re driving new cars, and don’t have to pay rent or pay for health care or medicine. They buy shit with their SNAP cards they could never afford if they had to work a job, and have big wads of cash in their wallet and several credit cards.

When your getting free shit, you don’t have the usual expenses that the stupid fucks who work for a living have. You’re free from being exploited by capitalistic bosses and the white devils and Jews that own everything. As you drive down the street, every fifth house is filled with free shit parasites living off the dumbshits that still work for a living. They don’t see themselves as victims, they see themselves as entitled, entitled not to work and have somebody else pay for all the finer things in life. They see people that still work for a living as suckers, because that’s what they are.

Obama and the liberal progressive socialist democrats have freed people from the burden of having to work and support themselves. Now people are free, free at last, God almighty, free at last. They love it, they enjoy it, and every person on this planet is here to serve them, because Obama has empowered them, funds them, and supports them. The free shit army loves the free shit, why else would 112 million people be signed up for welfare/disability? And they will be very unhappy when the socialists run out of other people’s money to give ’em, and they have to resort to stealing, looting, and murder so they don’t have to work. Because they will.

To everyone. First to the individual, then his family, then his community, then to society.

True. But, you’re talking about OUTWARD signs. I’m talking about what goes on inside the cranium. No, I can’t read minds. Yes, I have some understanding of the psyche. I have been unemployed while having a family to feed, house, take care of. I never felt shittier about myself. OK, so I’m a white dude, raised by old-school German parents, different standards and all that. Maybe. But, I believe there are “universal” standards that apply to all people …. such as feeling like shit when living off the dole.

Of course, not. Did I imply that it does?

The FSA, welfare and disability recipient, SS recipients, union government drones that retired at 50 with $100,000 a year pensions……are devoid of:

Guilt
Shame
Care
Respect or care for others
The lower instincts of providing one’s own shelter, food, or income

They follow their sociopathic narcissist leader, Bathhouse Barry, and emulate him in every manner.

I don’t know, Stucky. I’m not sure if it’s universal or if it’s how we are raised. I was raised a lot like you were – self-reliance was valued. You were supposed to help pull the wagon, not ride in it. There was shame in being a taker and not a maker.

But what if you were raised to value getting something for nothing? What if you were raised to view other people as suckers or marks, and the goal is to get as much for yourself as you can?

It would explain the FSA and Wall Street, both.

On the other hand, for thousands of years, before there were EBT cards and central banks, people had to cooperate and work together with everyone doing their own part. Parasitic behavior would be easy to spot and would result in social ostracism and shunning. Being a helper and a giver would result in a positive feedback loop and become evolutionarily hardwired into our makeup. It’s only been recently that being a freeloader is easier to conceal, or in the case of the FSA, you live in a neighborhood where all your friends are doing the same thing and patting each other on the back.

A friend of mine works in a big corporate job, doing some kind of legal compliance, where she makes six figures but does almost nothing all day. She knows she is grossly overpaid, and I know she is bored out of her mind. Her approach is to brag about how much she gets paid for doing so little. If the company’s goal is to pay you as little as possible for getting as much work out of you as possible, I guess you could say my friend is “winning.”

I was in a job like that (not six figures, but still very well-paid) and I couldn’t stand it. I ended up leaving for something else because I was so bored. It utterly depressed me. And I read a theory that depression, rather than being a defect, is an adaptive mechanism that causes us to mentally shut down when we are engaged in a pointless or futile activity. It’s just that in modern times you have to earn a paycheck in order to eat, and in order to earn a paycheck you might have to spend a lot of time engaged in pointless or futile activities.

Anyway, in the end I don’t know if the need to feel useful and spend our time doing something that is worth doing is hardwired into us through evolution or if it’s socialized into us through the way we are raised. What if your mom always told you that you were dumb to want to get a job? I just don’t know. But it’s an interesting subject.

“But what if you were raised to value getting something for nothing?” ——— Pirate Jo

As usual, you make an excellent point.

It may work along the lines of immigration and culture. It has been said that the first generation keeps the culture they brought. The second generation is aware of them. The third generation has forgotten them altogether. I see that in my own family. I (1st gen) kept them. My sons know of them. My grandkids for the most part don’t have a clue.

I agree with your assessment. The first family that had to live off the dole is as I said, devastated and ashamed. Their kids, not so much. By the time the next generation comes along, it is a way of life … no big deal.

The BLS continues to publish shitty data while the MSM cherry picks “positive” indicators of a recovery.

Even worse, the BLS is obviously white washing the data.

Thankfully people are ignerrant these days, and don’t understand that for 20% of families to be solely supported by the government is a bad thing.

“…At this point, if you can believe it, the number of Americans getting money or benefits from the federal government each month exceeds the number of full-time workers in the private sector by more than 60 million….”

Yep, I can, and this is why we are SCREWED. When more than 50% of all families rely on the gravy train of gubment employment, and gubment handouts, workers are slaughtered.

The unemployed CONTINUE to yell for more laws, more rules, more regulations, more, more, more, while those that (used to) provide the jobs give up and fade away.

Atlas has indeed shrugged, now to figure out where, and how, to go Galt.

@Stucky, indeed sir. Dependence past childhood creates vast feelings of worthlessness, impotence, dread. Which is why 25% of the country are being chemically lobotomized by their physicians. Add another 20% that are use alcohol or street drugs. For millennia, man has partaken of substances to relieve himself of the hopeless feeling that comes with being a serf, reliant on another to set the rules, and the punishments. What amuses me is that we think we would be so different. Look to Russia and vodka to see that us modern men are not much different than our technologically, and scientifically, challenged ancestors.

It really cracks me up that these people, along with many of the obese, liberal, and the like, are virtual prisoners and being slowly killed off while they parade around taking Xanax and Two Buck Chuck and call Ob ama a “pussy” and demand the gubment do MORE to keep them from actually getting better.

Atlas Shrugged…..I did my taxes a few week ago….my effective Fed tax rate was 12.67% add to it 6.25% Social Security taxes,1.45 Medicare Taxes and 7% State Taxes. Then add all the hidden taxes I pay and I bet I’m approaching 40% or so. I’ve told my wife when we hit the 50% threshold why the fuck should I work…I’ll so into full “Atlas Shrugged ” mode
