Thank you for reminding me to get more active in local water issues. Water is being sold from the Great Lakes by corporations, in massive quantities. This needs to change.

Japanese and Chinese researchers are looking for ways to recycle/re-purpose fecal matter to grow protein rich bacteria which can be used to generate nutritious meat substitutes. Perhaps somebody is looking into filtering urine for domestic recycling. Why are we flushing all this source material down the drain and using precious water to do that?

On a more serious note, our Chinese plumber said he puts pails in the shower with him to catch the soapy water which he uses to flush his toilet.

@El, I read the most interesting article a year or so ago, written by a Native American whom had mocked his grandparents old ways with the earth and feeding themselves.

He said how it embarrassed him that they would keep a sealed bucket in their bedroom and if they used the facilities mid-slumber, as us older folks usually do, then they would dilute the urine and use it to water their crops. Crops that were planted using the old ways of mixed plantings, not European one crop type farming.

Until he tried it. He claims enormous yields and little pesticide/herbicide needs.

American that don’t want to settle for frankenfoods from Wally, are going to have to get creative, and old school, with figuring out how to feed ourselves.

The selling off our very water in order for more politicians to gain more power, and a handful more elite become even more wealthy is the epitome of what is wrong with our country.

The end has to be nigh, I can practically smell it on the arid plains.

Bob, your saying if the multi-national corporations steal the water, we should just move someplace where they aren’t stealing it?

Who gave TE a down-thumb, some doily-sniffing panty-waist?

3 thumbs-up so far for one of the most disgustingly parochial comments ever on TBP. WTF? Some questions for the near-sighted Chicago999444.

Are the shore lines of 20% of the WORLD’S fresh water receding? No. So who gives a shit whether or not “corporations” are selling the water? So far, the lakes are just fine.

Does the shitty of Chicago “own” Lake Michigan? No. Look at a fucking map, lady. Wisconsin and Michigan might have a say in that. It’s not called Lake MICHIGAN for nothing. The Illinois shoreline is a fart in a hurricane.

Would you cut off Great Lakes water diverted through canals or pipelines to the upper Midwest farms in the event of prolonged (decades) extreme drought? No. Not unless you’re a heartless asshole that wants to create massive starvation, not necessarily here, but abroad.

Get the picture? Compared to the rest of the world, the U.S. is drowning in fresh water. And we can get it to where we need it if we have to. But no, YOU have selfishly decided that the Great Lakes are yours, and yours alone. Just because you live near one.

Send me a picture of you carrying a sign “Save Lake Michigan” when you get involved in local water issues. I’ll look at it when I need to throw up.

Triple S I told you way back when you Desert Dwellers we’re going to end up sucking on a dry straw. You told me everything was fine, nothing to worry about. Member? What says you know.

Triple S says the U.S. is drowning in fresh water. And we can get it to where we need it if we have to.

What State is going to send you water? Name just one. Nobody gives a shit, helloooo, here in Arkansas we have water everywhere and we have outstanding farm land with a small population, we can grow our own produce. We don’t give a flying fuck if the entire western U.S drys up and blows away. Why should we? You guys are own good luck.

I’m 100% States rights. Fuck any State that’s wants to try and come get our water. The God Damn dumb bastards in the Southwest build a city like Vegas in the middle of a desert and wonder why they are running out of water, they should have been conserving for years now. That’s why I schooled Tripple S a long time ago about pending water shortages. But he, like the rest of the desert dwellers said no problem, don’t worry about it, not a problem. It’s all about managing risk people, the future is so damn easy to see. I’m astounded as to why smart people make the choices they do. So here they are, a bunch of snow birds, money tied up in a location running out of water wanting everyone else to bale their asses out just like a bunch of welfare queens in the inner city. Not gonna happen.

Normalcy Bias kills. Not having a mind capable of processing risk management kills. The game is changing, the future belongs to those that are smart enough to manage the coming changes and see the risk before its all consuming. If I was Tripple S my ass would have pulled up stakes and left the desert a long time ago rather than taking the position other States owe us and they will soon send water. WTF? This Fourth Turning is gonna takeout a bunch of people.

Mobility is the key to survival, just like a boxer in the ring, stick and move, you stand in one place you die. I live in a rural State with all kinds of water, I live on a small farm boarding National Forest, I’m set up to live without electricity, have an outstanding pen of horse’s that can plow the ground, a river, literally in my backyard which flows crystal clear year around, spring fed ya know. I’ve spent considerable time and money to put things in place to move my entire spread in a six hour time frame. I have two main relocation destinations, remote as hell, you literally can’t get there unless horse back. What do you think my chances are sheltering in place at my current location? Probably real good, better than most. Why would I spend time, energy, and money contemplating and planning relocation from such a most excellent location. It’s called risk management, that’s what a survivor does, look at what could potentially take you out where you are and put in place a backup plan, one increases odds of survival many fold. Verses a guy living in the fucking desert running out of water calling on his neighbors to supply him a drink out of some sense of obligation, that’s a victim in the making. Don’t be a victim people, this Fourth Turning is going to kill millions of people, history demands it. Most of you love to trash this Country and maybe you’re correct, maybe we will pay for the sins of our Fathers, but it’s you that will pay that price. Me? I’m going to fade to black, resurface after this Fourth Turning has run its course and live each day knowing it’s a blessing that my mind is incapable of normalcy bias.

Colorado. You lose.

BTW, Sensetti, check out where the headwaters of the Arkansas and Rio Grande Rivers originate. You’re in dire need of some map study.

SSS, no other state is going to volunteer to send the sand states water, because they have water issues of their own even if they are “wet” states.

If you are speaking of the state of CO, forgetaboutit, CO has problems with creeping aridity and is no way no how going to let go of its water rights.

Same with WA, OR, ID, or MT. While some parts of these states in the Pacific Northwest are very wet, people are all too aware of how they could end up in water deficit, because almost every place in the country is tapping its own water supply to the max, and any attempt to steal anymore water from the Columbia, Arkansas, Rio Grande, or Missouri Rivers to convey it to CA, AZ, NM, WY, UT, or NV, will be met with extremely spirited resistance, and so will any suggestion of piping it from the Mississippi or the Great Lakes.

People in the sand states need to learn that the world does not revolve around them and that they have, for the past 80 years at least, been taking a lot more than they’ve been giving in the way of welfare in the form of water projects that would cost TRILLIONS in today’s money.

From here forward, you will be on your own and you will be stuck with whatever resources you have locally, so choose your location wisely. I personally will never live more that a mile from a large fresh water source.

This drought mess has been engineered from the get go. They WANT this drought. They NEED this drought. And you can’t handle the truth!. It’s all about power and control, folks. They hurried and put all those “smart” meters on your homes so when the water is gone …THEY control what goes on in your own home. I believe this house of cards is coming down, but not before the 1% get all they want.
