Briggs Myers’ Personality Test

Someone else suggested that it would be interesting to know the personality types of other posters here on TBP. I agree and if you would not mind participating, go here to take the 72 question test. Answers are yes/no. If you are so inclined, post your results below.

Interesting…makes you go hmmm.

Myers Briggs is okay, imho, but if you really want to understand personality, there are some other systems I prefer. The Enneagram is my favorite.

I was reading the comments regarding the shooting and in the past 2 weeks doug casey mentioned this personality test too so this morning I became interested enough and searched for an onine test and took it as well as my wife. (same one linked in the post)

I am an INTJ (67%, 62%, 75%, 44%) and my wife is an ISFJ (44%, 38%, 12%, 11%).
I do have to say the descriptions are pretty spot on for each of us. Didn’t do the “marriage test” but I am kinda interested to see how things supposedly align (definitely not worth $6, so f’ it)

Funny how INTJ’s are supposed to make up like 1-4% of the population but I bet damn near 80% of the people who post/comment on this site are INTJ’s (and probably a few INTP’s). The internet really has allowed similar thinking people to congregate with one another and essentially create phyles.
Debating seems to be a strong characteristic, having a bunch of INTJ’s congregating together must be part of the reason the shit flies pretty well here.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’d like to give a big SALUTE to Indentured Servant for posting this. It was exactly what I needed to take my mind off, however briefly, the shit that went on in Connecticut and the world in general.

I’ve read every comment closely and enjoyed all of them. The comments, graphs, charts, photos, etc that people posted were amazing and showed the depth and breadth of intelligence and creativity of the folks on this blog. Admin managed to squeeze in a pic of Clint Eastwood, and Stucky wins imho with posting the funniest example of the most stupid question on a psychological profile exam, “Which fairy tale do you prefer; Snow White or Peter Pan?”

Maybe we need a day or two more of this. I know I wouldn’t mind. Jump in you introverts out there. The water’s fine.

INTJ
Introvert(11%) iNtuitive(12%) iNtuitive Thinking(38%) Judging(67%)

You have slight preference of Introversion over Extraversion (11%)
You have slight preference of Intuition over Sensing (12%)
You have moderate preference of Thinking over Feeling (38%)
You have distinctive preference of Judging over Perceiving (67%)

I’ve taken this test many times since the 8th grade. I always score INTJ, the only thing that varies is how severe the percentages are, which I think is more an indication of my current life situation than of my actual personality type.

The questions on the test are so broad in their scope they become meaningless.

For instance:
You are almost never late for your appointments

Well, crap, why be on time for a doctors, or dentist appt, when they ALWAYS make you wait past your appointment time? I would like to be on time but all too often I was made to wait. WITF. Do the people that wrote this psyche exam take this into consideration.

Yes, I am usually on time, but these asses make me not want to be on time.

Good lord. TV soaps? I dont watch them at all. How can I answer such a stupid question? There is no correct answer. Soaps suck. I dont watch them and so I cant feel involved. What fucking introvert does? And why would an extrovert, busy with actual social functions, watch that shit?

Why do people think that some self analyzing bunch of nerds are the ones that should classify them? And why do people take this shit test and then classify themselves according to anothers rules?

Are you people nuts? Because the writers of this test, in my opinion, have spent far too much time mental masturbating that actually going out into the real world and digging a ditch or running a company.

Really, intellectuals, as they like to see themselves, are morons viewing reality thru a book written by yet another moron viewing reality from a book they read.

Count on your “in-holding” being condemned and appropriated by the NPS. I worked on some of these cases-trust me when I say a National Park is not a good neighbor-at least not in AK.

KB-Me thinkst thou doth protest too much. Surely (?) you are creative enough to answer hypothetical questions that don’t exactly match your personal experience?

I’ll give an analogy-a job interview. Having been on both sides of the interview process more than a few times, I have come to one metaphysical certitude: A partial (or hypothetical or contrived) answer is far better than no answer at all. E.g. Question: “Please describe your experience with such & such”. Obviously if you have relevant experience w/ such & such, you so explain. Your response is rated, probably decent to excellent, depending on relevance and how well it conforms to the expectations of the interview panel.

If you have no experience w/ such & such, you have 3 options: Option 1 (KB’s option, I gather) “I don’t know shit about such & such. And that’s all I have to say about the subject” (w/ credits to Forest Gump) Errr, wrong answer-you get 0 points. Maybe 1 point for honesty, if I’m being charitable. Option 2: “I don’t have any direct experience w/ such & such, but I have experience w/ so &so, which is similar, and here is how I dealt w/ it, and why it is relevant.” OK, probably not 100%, but major partial credit, up to nearly full score. Option 3: “I don’t have any direct experience w/ such & such, but if I encountered this situation, here is how I would handle it”. Hypothetical experience, much better than nothing, significant partial credit.

You young folks looking for work might want to pay attention-the above may seem obvious, but I’ve interviewed many folks who I personally knew had related but not precise experience, and failed to get jobs or promotions because they didn’t extrapolate during the interview. In a gov’t organization, the interview process is quite structured, and if you don’t say it, it doesn’t count. In private sector, there is a bit more flexibility, but if the interviewer doesn’t know your background, you cannot expect them to “infer” what you do not say. I share the above w/ folks I want to see succeed in my organization.

As a matter of fact, I do know which end of a screwdriver to hold onto, and am relatively mechanically inclined (although not electronically so). Been fixing broken shit since I was a youngsterso that dog won’t hunt. However, as we approach the winter solstice, I confess to being solar deprived. I am down to less than 4 hours/day of sunlight, and assuming the Mayan new year isn’t the end of the hunt, I am looking forward to increasing daylight in a week or so. KB: “Listen closely, I dont do hypotheses. And I cannot answer senseless questions that do not apply to me.” Sounds like someone is pretty self-absorbed. If it’s not about him, he won’t play.

Now let’s think about this a second. Let’s assume (for the sake of argument) that classifying personality types has some value. You want to develop a practical, convenient test to so classify. You come up with a series of questions. Will every question exactly match every possible candidate’s personal experience? Hell no. If the questions have any validity, they are going to cross experience lines. So what are the test takers to do when they encounter questions beyond their experience? They either improvise, or refuse to answer. Either way, we learn a bit about their personality. Seems we have a “Type A”, right SSS?
