It’s a crazy Topsy-turvey world when my fucking electric meter is smarter than the Presiident.

Can the smart meter detect the use of battery operated vibrators?

After viewing the video provided above, one of the additional video selections to watch is the smart meter guard that blocks the RF radiation to your home. The web site to read about this RF guard for your home and its cost is at the following link:

The guy in the video has a site called freedomtaker.com

He says you can legally install your own analog meter or even opt out of having a smart meter installed. Anybody have any experience with this?

I sent an e-mail to the Smart Meter (SM) Guard company a few hours ago and I wanted to share a few things from the letter about their Guard. Very enlightening indeed:

Basically, these Guards are a small Faraday cage that cover the front glass of the SM. The front glass is where the SM transmits, as it is the only ungrounded metal.

Utility companies don’t care what you do to the smart meters as long as you don’t do three things:

(1) Do NOT break the security seal. The utility companies get very upset because they think you are stealing power and it’s against the law.

(2) Do NOT impede their access to the meter. Some people put bolts, chains and other contraptions on where they can’t access the meters. They don’t like that.

(3) Do NOT block their signal. If you block their signal, they think you are stealing power. As long as you don’t do any of these things, they really don’t care what you do and they won’t take the Guard off.

With the SM Guard installed, the utility company still gets their signal. Here is why. SMs are made to transmit about 25 miles so they make them with fairly high RF power. The SM Guard blocks about 98% of the RF signal. The 1% to 2% of power that leaks out of the guard is enough for the signal to go a mile or so. Most receiving stations or collector smart meters are only a few blocks from everyone’s house. This means they get the signal they need.

indialantic, your last paragraph would indicate that the guards are of no use at all then. If the receiving stations can still receive the signal they need then it follows that they can receive all the data you don’t want them to right?

Another question, I suppose it is the homeowner that has to pay for the power these transmitters use to send their signal right?

Allow me to play devil’s advocate for a moment.
1. If the RF emitted from a smart meter has a range of 20-30 miles, how does shielding your meter protect you from all of your neighbor’s smart meters?
2. Is it true that you would have to hug your smart meter for 250 years to get the same amount of radiation as you would from being on your cell phone for 15 minutes?

I remember the old cancer scare from drinking diet soda such as TAB. In order to get the cancer caused in rats from consuming TAB, you would have to drink like 30 gallons a day.

I_S,

“indialantic, your last paragraph would indicate that the guards are of no use at all then.”

The Guard does not stop the smart meter from transmitting. It was not designed to do that. It’s purpose is to greatly minimize the RF radiation hazard from the SM.

“Another question, I suppose it is the homeowner that has to pay for the power these transmitters use to send their signal right?”

Yes, we pay that also the way I understand it. Shitty deal. I don’t remember anybody asking us for our approval. They just did it.

Joke all you want-it’s been proven again and again that RF energy is not good for you. HAM radio operators are known to die earlier than normal. I’ve known military satellite guys who will state EVERYONE who works in satellite communications for the military gets sick early and retires on medical discharges early. I know a kid who is, like, 30 and already has a pacemaker and a medical discharge from the army satcom program. Russia had a problem with their unshielded crypto killing off their comms guys-they would get leukemia and drop dead. A kid this year got a prize for a science fair project showing WiFi kills plants placed around the transmitter. Studies (quickly poo-pooed by the US Govt) have previously shown cell phone radiation can, among other things, render you impotent if you use them enough. Why wouldn’t being exposed to a powerful transmitter for long periods of time at your house be bad for you. On the other hand, with the economy the way it is, adults are probably out of the house most of the week, anyway.

I’ll be curious to see what happens when the hackers open them up, figure them out, and deliver free power to everyone.
