Not only is this case a joke, but the revolting concept of locking down an entire school and conducting random searches of lockers and private automobiles is a Gestapo method of control. The government and their apparatchiks throughout the country are desensitizing our youth and the willingly ignorant adults to being treated like cattle. The Fourth Amendment is virtually dead at this point. Public school drone administrators can treat students like common criminals with no evidence. The police thugs can kick your door down in the name of the War on Terror. The state urges you to snitch on your neighbor. The NSA and their cohorts at Google, Facebook, Verizon and Microsoft are recording everything you do and will use that information against you whenever it suits their purpose. Drones are now roaming the skies keeping you under surveillance. Google Earth can take a close up picture of you in your backyard. And we just willingly and passively submit to this tyranny.

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn – A high school student in Montgomery County has been suspended after school officials found a knife inside his father’s car.
David Duren-Sanner should be spending his time going through college and scholarship applications this time of year.
Instead, he’s wondering if he’ll even be able to graduate after what hundreds of people are calling an overreaction to a mistake.
On Thursday, Duren-Sanner, a senior at Northeast High School drove his father’s car to school. During a random lockdown, his car was chosen to be searched.
Duren-Sanner gave permission because he said he had nothing to hide.
His father is a commercial fisherman on the West Coast and had apparently left a fishing knife in the car. Duren-Sanner’s father said it might have been wedged between one of the seats.
Duren-Sanner said he told school officials and the Sheriff’s department the car was his father’s and he didn’t know the knife was in it.
“He’s like ‘it doesn’t matter it was in your possession anyway,'” Duren-Sanner said.
School officials suspended him for 10 days, the maximum allowed under school policy, and then he was reprimanded to attend 90 days at an alternative school.
Peggy Duren is Duren-Sanner’s grandmother whom he lives with. She said she tried explaining the knife didn’t belong to her grandson, but claims school officials wouldn’t listen.
“Unfortunately (the vice principal) said that’s the way it is now: Guilty until proven innocent. It’s part of this zero tolerance policy,” she said.”
Duren-Sanner has an appeal hearing on Wednesday with the school board.
If his punishment is upheld, Duren-Sanner will not be able to attend prom, his JROTC ball or walk at graduation. His family said it’s unclear whether he’ll be able to graduate at all.
Duren said her grandson has a 3.0 grade point average, is on the honor roll and he has never even been sent to the principal’s office She said scholarship applications have stopped since it is unclear what her grandson’s future is.
Duren-Sanner also faces weapons charges with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department.
An online petition has garnered more than 600 signatures in support of Duren-Sanner. The petition urges school officials to drop all charges against him, end his suspension and not punish him for days missed.
Repeated requests for comment from the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System were not responded to.

Excuse me? They Did WHAT?
This is a joke, right?
On Thursday, during a random lockdown at Northeast High School in Clarksville, the car that David Duren-Sanner drove to school was chosen to be searched, according to News Channel 5. Duren-Sanner, a senior, said he gave permission for officials to look inside the car because he had nothing to hide.
But administrators found a knife belonging to his father — who is a commercial fisherman — wedged between the seats. Duren-Sanner said he did not know about the knife.
The car is registered to his father; it’s not the kid’s car.
His dad is a commercial fisherman; I’m assuming the knife is probably a fillet knife. I own a couple of them; going fishing (if you intend to eat said fish) without one is sort of like going fishing without hooks or bait.
Not only did they suspend the kid they additionally are apparently charging him criminally.
He claims he didn’t know the knife was in the car. It’s a fact that he never removed it from the vehicle, that no threat was made (physically or verbally) and that the vehicle doesn’t belong to him. There is no evidence that he placed the knife in the car or knew it was there.
Anyone ever heard of mens rea?
That’s the principle in the law that to be charged with a crime you must be “of guilty mind”; that is, you must have a mental state consistent with the intent to undertake an action that violates the law.
Never mind the premise of a “random lockdown” and “random selection” of vehicles to search. Where the hell does that come from? Yes, the kid gave permission (did you learn anything from that son; what’s your answer from now on when asked by a cop or administrator if they can do something?) but never mind that he wasn’t possessing anything; he wasn’t in the vehicle at the time, it wasn’t his vehicle and in order to be guilty of possessing something in a criminal context you have to intend to do so in some constructive way, which they do not allege was the case.
This sort of crap has to stop folks, and the people responsible for these policies need to be sued for defamation and, if he was detained, prosecuted for kidnapping.
Enough!
I was outraged the other day when I heard that a coworker’s eight year old got detention for not wearing a name tag in her public school. Kids are being conditioned from a young age to be subjected to being identified and catalogued (Papers Please!) at a young age.
Shit is fucked up and bullshit.
So the list of what-the-fuck here is very, very long:
1) Random lockdown? WTF? That’s how you run a prison, maybe. (Maybe if you’re an asshole.) Children should NEVER have to deal with a “random lockdown.”
2) Car searches during that illegal, immoral “random lockdown”? DoubleWTF! Total bullshit!
3) As Denninger says, mens rea… there can’t be a crime here if the guy didn’t know.
4) 10-day suspension PLUS being kicked out of that school? Holy mother of triple WTF, Batman!
More and more I think these outrageous actions are 100% entirely, deliberately designed to provoke backlash which can then be used to crank the screws down even harder. To which I will say – how does Ender Wiggins deal with bullies?
I’m with Denninger: ENOUGH!
They do no more than we allow them to do. If nothing else, we have the ability to make this go viral, to sign the petition, to speak up. This kid’s life should not be destroyed by a totalitarian – fascist system where common sense has no role.
Do it… or there will be no one left to cry “Stay!” for you and yours. #TheHangman
Enough is enough right? All the government is doing is pissing people off. Anger is epidemic, as are suicides (anger turned inward). They aren’t making us safer, they are only enforcing fascism. But behind the scenes, Americans are arming themselves for what’s coming. We know what’s coming, and we’ll finally be able to vent the anger. It’s gonna blow up in the fascist’s faces.

Hmm, I remember a couple of months ago I brought this same issue up at TBP. I talked about the illegal car searches and locker searches. Drug sniffing dogs in the hall ways. I was told I was a whiner. Funny how when Admin brings up a topic that is NOT new, he has supporters. But when I bring it up from just 10 years ago, I am a whiner. And you wonder why teenagers are losing their minds and shooting up their schools.
I have a friend who is a high school principal. Five years ago he would have agreed with maybe 80% of the views on this site, he still leaned moderate democrat but professed to be republican to the core.
I don’t know the man anymore, he is so far over to the left it is astounding.
There is no hope, the best action is for parents, who should be alarmed, is to pull their children out of public schools, while they still can.
HOW one says a thing is sometimes even more important than WHAT is said.
It looks like Apple doesn’t have any new toys for the Metros to line up for and maybe rose colored plimp-soles are going out of fashion. When we can’t distract the Metros let’s let them know we’re watching even if we’re not.
The Fourth Turning is dead.
“Duren-Sanner, a senior, said he gave permission for officials to look inside the car because he had nothing to hide.” ———– from Denninger’s article
BIG … BIG …….got it? …….. BIG fuckin’ mistake !!!
NEVER, EVER give pigfuks permission to search your car, your person, your anything. You have precious few rights left. Why give up that one??
They say … “well, if you’re innocent don’t worry about it ..” or, “you know, not letting us search makes you look guilty” …. these and other “reasons” are complete, total, utter bullshit. Don’t fall for it. Stand your ground, goddammit!
A couple months ago, my son was home from college for a week or so. He had a college beard and his hair was longer than normal. When he’s home he meets up with his old friends and is out until 2:00 am or so. He was driving home from a friends house at 2:00 am during the week. He’s driving my old CRV with 210,000 miles. He is driving the speed limit. He goes through no red lights. He is not driving under the influence. There are no lights out on the car. Its registration is up to date.
A Towamencin cop pulls him over because he looks scruffy and is driving at 2:00 am. There is no crime in Towamencin. It is 98% white and upper middle class. Four other cops arrive to the parking lot where the cop has pulled him over. The aggressive prick cop is questioning him and shining a flashlight in his face. It becomes clear to the other cops that my son is not under the influence and has done absolutely nothing wrong, but the prick cop won’t let up.
He asks my son if he can search the car. My young libertarian must have been listening to my rants when we drove together to work over the summer. He said NO. They had no right to search his car and he knew it. They had to let him go. Those prick cops must have been very disappointed.
Fuck the cops. Fuck school administrators. Fuck Politicians. Fuck Google. Fuck Obama. Fuck the whole fucking corrupt government apparatus.
Two years ago my middle son is in Middle School. Out of the blue he gets called down to the Asst Principal’s office. It seems some girls at the school have gone to the administration and told them there is going to be a pot party at some kid’s house later that night. These cunts name a bunch of kids supposedly going to the party. They name my son. He doesn’t even know the kid. He has never associated with him. He happens to be going to a birthday party in my neighborhood three doors down at a friend’s house who we’ve known for 12 years.
Why the administrator drones are getting involved in something that isn’t happening in their school is beyond me.
My son arrives at the office and the asst principal and school security guard are there. They ask him about the party. He says he doesn’t know anything about it. They treat him like a criminal. The fucking asst principal leaves the room and the security guard pats my son down while alone in the room. They then lead him to his locker and search it for drugs. NOTHING found. They don’t even apologize to him for being fucking wrong.
My wife is called late on Friday after the fact. She lets me know. I go fucking ballistic, but can’t get through to anyone at the school.
I storm into the school on Monday morning and demand to see the asst principal. I give him a dressing down he’ll never forget. I asked him what punishment would be doled out to the three little cunts for falsely accusing my son. He says nothing. They don’t want to deter students from speaking up if they see something wrong. I’m not satisfied with his answers. I tell him I want a call from the Principal.
She calls me later in the day. I told her she was running an Orwellian school. I don’t think she was bright enough to get the reference. I brought up the false accusation and why weren’t the cunts going to be punished. She gave me the same bullshit answer.
Then I scared the living shit out of her. I said that I didn’t know anything about her school security guard. How did I know he wasn’t a sexual deviant or child molester. He patted my son down alone in a room. I said what if I falsely accused her security guard of molesting my son. Would she have a problem with that? She sputtered and didn’t answer. I was fucking livid. I told her I was going to write an Op-Ed in the local paper about the whole incident and slammed the phone down.
I didn’t write it because I didn’t want my son to be impacted by my rage.
Fuck school principals. Fuck union teachers. Fuck the government.
HOW one says a thing is sometimes even more important than WHAT is said.
Bullshit.
Clammy, I call bullshit to your 11:22 post.
“That’s how you run a prison, ….” ——— Persnickety
School = Prison.
Thanks for playing.
Great post BTW.
“Bullshit.” —— Angry Clam
Clueless.
Z- No Bullshit. This shit went on at my high school all the time. I had several classmates openly arrested in school.
There’s nothing new about this.
This was done in all high schools when I was a kid in the 1960s. We were told that our lockers were on school property and were subject to random searches for “contraband” such as liquor, at any time.
And if you think the public schools were bad, you should have been in one of the CATHOLIC Schools. The paternalism and control methods of the parochial schools were extremely invasive and insulting. While the public schools at least backed off the kid and left what went on off school property and after school hours up to the parents, the Catholic schools went all in on control, right down to lecturing mothers of their pupils on how they, the mothers, should dress and comport themselves as Good Catholic Wives and Mommas. The Catholic schools would search a girl’s hand bag or a boy’s gym bag with no hesitation and if the student did not submit, he or she was booted.
The only defense against this crap is to know the school’s policy before you enroll your child, and decide whether or not you want to agree to the terms. If you don’t, find a school that will do things your way.
chicago
BULLSHIT
I went to Catholic school. Our lockers were never searched. Not once. Ever.
“Stand your ground, goddammit!”
Big Big Big problem, these kids, and most adults don’t know they have grounds to stand on.
Stupidity, fear, complacency, whatever the reason, cops know 99.9% of the population will piss in their pants with the threat of “the law.”
Wonder how many people will have to be hauled off, raped, beaten, killed, etc before the shit hits the fan and we fight back. I’m guessing a lot, hangman is going to be very busy.

EXCELLENT post!!!
A funny, albeit trivial, example from Kramer; “I love you.” vs “I love YOU!”.

“The only defense against this crap is to know the school’s policy before you enroll your child, and decide whether or not you want to agree to the terms. If you don’t, find a school that will do things your way.”
Nope, the police is of the opinion because students are under the age of 18 they have no constitutional rights.
This is a perfect example of either home schooling or sending your kids to a private school .
Admin- I was pulled over numerous times while in college and had my car searched. One time they were looking for beer and illegal drugs (The cops suspected we were under the age of 21) they found nothing. I was on a road trip in Missouri with two friends, we pulled over because of snow, cops surrounded our car, searched the contents, and put us in separate cop cars, they found nothing. I was at a friends apartment drinking while underage (I was 19) when neighbors call the police. They tried to get entry to search the apartment, we said no, I was actually beer in hand talking to the police while my underage friends hid in the apartment (I was not about to look guilty for anything) he didn’t even I.D. me. I was one time waiting for my roommate to come and pick me up from work 9he had my truck) it took him an hour to arrive because police were searching my truck (and B-2200 Mazda truck, with one of the smallest cabs ever) He also confiscated my CD player (I had in rigged settling on the floor because I couldn’t find a CD player the right size anywhere) saying he suspected it was stole.
Those were just times in college. Not to mention every time I got pulled over in Detroit while in high school. I used to drive a black 1989 Buick Regal and got racially profiled all the time in the car if I was in any city in Michigan.
Hmm, I bring up the same issues as Admin, and relative in age with his son’s experiences, and I get down votes. I guess I am just whining. I guess I just had a “bad attitude” with my rights being infringed on because I was young.
Stephanie Shepard
Stop comparing yourself to Admin.
Just. Stop.
Nope, comparing the content. You Boomers like to tell me I am full of shit and that I am a whiner. Though throughout this whole year, I have seen Admin post the exact same ideas right after me, only for you to fawn over his wisdom.
“My young libertarian must have been listening to my rants when we drove together to work over the summer. He said NO.” ———- Admin
Well done! May we all learn from you, Herr Admin.
You have taught your children well!!

Yeah, stucky, teach the children well.

Admin, you went to school about 10 years behind me.
You did NOT live or go to school in South St Louis, which was, at that time, heavily populated by people of mostly German descent, the most rule-conscious, conformist people that ever walked.
Terms like “knee jerk conformist” come to mind.
Parents never, ever, ever questioned the schools. If you got detention, or got suspended, or had your locker searched, your parents automatically assumed that YOU were guilty and would want to know what you did to earn the punishment, or trigger suspicion.
Mind you, this state of affairs was what most of the parents WANTED.
I lived within a mile of 3 Catholic high schools and four Catholic grade schools. The prep schools were fine, but the parochial schools were very invasive.
Stucky, you are full of crap. You dismiss my ideas strictly because I am young. They are the exact same ideas. Way to be a hypocrite. And you wonder why the youth hates Boomers so much. You don’t like my ideas because I am young, well, I don’t like you because old people smell weird.
Stephanie, its all about the delivery and source. You’ve messed up bad in the past and that will be very hard to repair. Learn from your mistakes, perform some honest self introspection, and move on to somewhere else where you don’t have history. Why are you so hell bent on hanging around here?
Chicago- There is a difference between the schools searching for something specific and random police searches. Learn the damn difference. If you got caught, you were suspended. Boo hoo. Now if you get caught, you get arrested, sent to jail, and are a felon before you are legally allowed to drink.
And now for something completely different. A different story from a different time, long ago and far away…
Back in high school, in the days when kids drove their pickups to school with hunting rifles on the rack by the rear window of the cab, a teacher didn’t like me. I was fine with that because I didn’t like him either. One day he sent me to the principal.
The principle and my dad went to the same college and they played together on the baseball team. Now I didn’t know this until he told me. He looked down at the report from Mr. Asshole (my teacher), then started talking about playing baseball with my dad in college. After awhile he looked up at me and said, “Okay. You can go now.”
I don’t think Mr. Asshole was satisfied with the outcome of that meeting, but he never sent me there again.
Like Calamity, this shit went on in my high school as well. Columbine terrified teachers, and they would (literally) stop at nothing to prevent another one.
I went to a highschool with 120 kids total, I saw at least two arrests each year, 5 my senior year. All thanks to lock downs and random search and seizure.
“You dismiss my ideas strictly because I am young.”
Nah, he probably just thinks you are a bitch.
“I asked him what punishment would be doled out to the three little cunts for falsely accusing my son. ” ———–Admin
False accusers are rarely, if ever, punished.
Was Tawaney Brawley punished for falsely crying rape? Nope. Are Prosecutors punished when they knowingly accuse someone falsely? Nope. I read recently where 46 (FORTY SIX) people in jail were released because the pigfuk knowingly and falsely accused them of shit they never did. His punishment? A fine of a few thousand bucks and parole ….. for sending 46 people to jail.
If I were King I would make the punishment for a false accusation EQUAL TO the crime. So, if a false rape charge is made, and if the penalty for the would be rapists is 10 years in jail …. then send the false accuser to a 10 year prison term.
HalpPint- Still, they are the exact same fucking ideas. You don’t like the delivery, so what. I don’t care for the commentary. Same thing. Still doesn’t change the fact, they are the same ideas. Maybe you should relearn your reading comprehension. A refresher course is needed.
Boo hoo, Stephanie doesn’t write things the way I want her to write them. SHe doesn’t think the way I think she should. Oh, now she is just whining. I don’t like her so I am not going to agree on anything she writes. She is soo full of herself.
Oooh,Admin has good ideas. I like the way he says them. Even though he tells my whole generation to fuck off as well, he says it in way I can respect!! Bravo Admin!!

TCP- Yeah, Columbine changed everything. I remember after when they installed metal detectors and made it mandatory for all students to only carry see through backpacks. It quickly turned into “Your child cannot be trusted”.
” …. people of mostly German descent, the most rule-conscious, conformist people that ever walked. …. Parents never, ever, ever questioned the schools.” ———– Chicago999444
True, that.
I went to Catholic School in Newark. No one ever search our lockers.
However, in 4th Grade Sister Mary Teresa and my mom had a meeting about my unruly behavior. I made some weisenheimer comment. Surprising, huh? Well, Sister Mary Teresa ACTUALLY choked me! Afterwards, my mom slapped me upside the head. That’s how things rolled back then.
Steph, you still here. I thought you said you had a job?? Please enlighten us what job you have that allows you to spend time somewhere where nobody likes you.
Stucky- Ok, in the future I will summon a way to tell you to fuck off in a manner of your liking. Fair enough? I will use proper grammar and spelling to your approval of “fucking off” responses. I vow to be as creative as possible in each way, so you never get bored with your “fuck offs”. I will make sure each “fuck off” is within current topic, so you will never be offended twice by past “fuck offs”. I will also number each “fuck off ” statement in the future, so you can log them and make sure I keep my promises.
HalfPint- Why don’t you get a job and quit sucking off the government teat of retirement illusions.
I, too, am curious what your new job is.
I got more responsibilities heaped on me, but same pay and no help added.
Thankfully my primary research involves monitoring an instrument as it chugs along on unknowns, so every once in a while I get to sit on my ass for an afternoon and actually see whats happening in the world.
Parents chuck their kids into school and rely on the schools to become a de facto parent..
Parents listen to school “experts” tel them that their kid has ADD (or whatever the “condition du jour” is..) and dope him/her up accordingly.
Parents are appalled when their kid has a psychotic break and shoots up their school with a stolen gun.
Parents wail and moan “Someone has to DOOOO something!!”
Schools initiate draconian lockdowns, metal detectors, gun-free zones, locker searches and vehicular searches in an effort to DOOO SOMETHING!!! Now new and improved with Zero Tolerance!!
Parents bitch about flagrant violations of the 4th Amendment…
Yeah, welllll…. YOU ASKED FOR IT YA DUMBSHITS!!!
Enjoy your polce state… I got no sympathy or pity for any of these motherfuckers… just DO NOT CARE…
Damn typos… should be “Enjoy your POLICE state… ”
Fuck it… I’m out… be back later.

Clams has come to the realization that in order to get ahead she needs to specialize. I think it was you who told her that. So, instead of the rather generic Salad Preparation career path, she is now Head Cucumber Peeler.
Steph, I do work, at home. My plan is to never expect anything from anyone, since it probably won’t be there when my turn comes. One of our products use is to monitor all internet traffic in work places to make sure the employees are not blogging all day. Once again, where do you work, I think your employer could use our product.
Why are you people so desperate to know my job? So you can try to discredit me?
Stucky-
While I do understand you aspirations for the salad tossing field, I must say you will must (1) fuck off as you Cobb expertise input is not needed.
You belittle my salad making, though you do not know what you are talking about. The OG I worked at had well over 50 servers employed. Being as I took waste down from 11% to 1% in a month, I would say that simple job was a big priority when it comes to waste. But then again, food is not expensive these days, so literally saving the company thousands of dollars is not worthwhile. Especially when that waste easily totals into the thousands every week due to mismanagement and quality control. that restaurant alone in on day could easily go through 20 cases (25lbs) of salad mix. I took it down to 10 cases a day. The restaurant before could easily go through 60lbs of tomatoes. I took down to 25-30 lbs. SO yeah, I would say it was pretty important.
Did you know in a single day at OG they good through over 150 lbs of pasta?
