Last week the UK Daily Mail ran a somewhat interesting article titled “The world’s most bizarre cultural traditions endorsed by Unesco”, here ——-
One of the unusual traditions added: “The Intangible Cultural Heritage list includes Polyphonic singing of the Aka Pygmies of Central Africa”
Now … I have never heard of “Polyphonic singing”. So, I looked it up. It is also known a “overtone” singing …. or, basically, singing two notes at the same time. Incredible.
So, in this who-does-it-better post for Continued Cultural Edumacation, I’ve included three videos;
— 1) the pygmy tribe mentioned above,
— 2) an Austrian woman
— 3) a Mongolian band — because that’s where polyphonic singing originated, according to wiki.
Who does it best?
Pygmy
.
Mongolian
I’m betting this thread gets 100 comments before noon.
The Mongolian was my favorite, the kids prefered the Austrian.
100 comments before noon…HA! I just read the average person has sex 89 times a year, it’s going to be one wild fucking Dec 31st, don’t expect too many comments, people be gettin busy.
I played them separately, and the Mongols came in first for me, then I played them all at the same time, the hot Austrian came with me, I know she did, the bug eyed fiddle player was creepy the way he kept watching. I can’t help the Baka, sorry, not sorry.
The pygmy was just yodeling, if you ask me. I’d vote for the Austrian gal, although I take off points for their taking 7 minutes to get to the point. But then I add back points for an Austrian playing a Jew’s harp.
The austrian was neat, but I have a soft spot for the twang of a mouth harp. Needed a banjo and a jug imo.
I liked the Mongolian best.
I gave up after 5 min of watching the Austrian girl doing nothing but standing there looking totally stoned.
ASIG
She starts singing immediately, you stupid dickfuk.
Sorry Stuck, but Joe Bonamassa beats the crap out of them all:

The Austrian did it for me. She did look totally stoned but that is probably an effect of trying to sing two notes simultaneously!
