Arizona State University’s Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) hosted a “Walk A Mile in Her Shoes” event Monday to raise awareness against sexual violence and abuse in the community and the military. ROTC members sported heels and walked throughout the Tempe campus to draw attention to the cause.
History senior and ROTC member Tanner Bailey said despite the pain he felt running in heels, it was a great experience because he enjoyed running for an issue that was not just important for the military.
“(Sexual assault) is something that the Army has made very important recently,” Bailey said. “I didn’t mind running in shoes because of the message behind the event. I would definitely do it again.”

These are our future “leaders” in the military. They are Officer Cadets. And they were being threatened with a negative OER if they did not comply and degrade themselves.
What’s one bad OER, you ask?
One bad OER as a Cadet, and there pretty much goes your career. Over before it started.
You’ll never get choice of Branch, which is kind of a big deal. Combat Arms is prestigious and almost guarantees you’ll make full Colonel eventually. Which means if you get a bad OER, you don’t get choice of branch – if commissioned at all – and you’ll end up in Quartermaster, pushing paper from a desk in the basement, next to the water heater like Milton Waddams from Office Space.

Later, men wore them at the French Court, to appear taller, led by Louis XIV. Women adapted them because they made their feet appear smaller and forced them to mince their steps. After the French Revolution, male dress became more “rational” and utilitarian, and men no longer wore them.
Frankly, there’s no reason for anyone to wear them, and the designers have a harder time forcing them down women’s throats. You almost never see them in offices anymore, even though I’ll wear 2″ kitten heels, but never on the street. I change at the office. I totally sympathize with the woman who once remarked that she will not wear shoes that she cannot run, jump, or kick in, and rarely do women wear them on the streets- it tears up both the shoes and your feet. Within a couple more decades, they will go the way of hoopskirts and corsets.
We already knew that they’re lobotomized, then we learned that additionally they’re gay, then we found out that they can also be transgendered. Now it turns out that they wear hot-red high heels to boot (pun intended).
