Good Riddance. Problem is, we will be served up someone worse. He was part of Circuses of Bread and Circuses. If it is in the media or agrees with the media, consume with a healthy dose of skepticism.

Enjoyed Letterman over the years. He became a grumpy old bastard – and I can respect that. Paul Shaffer should do an occasional YouTube broadcast out of Thunder Bay. Dave could be the sidekick and play kazoo.

“David Lettermen: An Autobiography”

He was funny, once.

Then he wasn’t.

Then he turned into an asshole.

The End.

Kinda like you Stucky , especially turning into ass hole

After Johnny Carson none of the rest seemed worth watching . Never liked Dave Letterman after he got rich and famous. He was funny in the 70s doing his act in clubs. Now he’s just another rich liberal democrat .Condescending rich liberal democrat.

It’s about time he left. He really hasn’t been funny in at least 10 years.

I liked to watch Letterman in the 90s. Haven’t watched for the past 10-plus years. He’s an egotistical jerk. BTW, well stated, Stucky.

Read today that Arizona has had a moment of sanity by limiting welfare payouts to 12 months.

Golf clap for Arizona !

Uh, don’t look now but while you guys were busy saying farewell to David Letterman your country became overrun with legalized torture, legalized kidnappings, legalized financial fraud, legalized war crimes, legalized massive surveillance of absolutely everyone & everything, a legalized system of privately run Prisons-For-Profit, legalized market data manipulation, legalized highway robbery (aka Civil Asset Forfeitures), legalized secret FISA courts that issue legalized secret warrants, legalized police brutality, legalized drone bombings of children playing soccer on some beach 7422 miles away from here, legalized military invasions of foreign nations based on false pretenses & fabricated evidence, legalized benefits for illegal immigrants, legalized & purposeful dumbing-down of the entire national educational system, legalized usury, legalized bail-outs of failed private corporations at public expense, a completely corrupt judiciary operating a two-tier ‘justice’ system, legalized assassinations of 16 year old U.S. citizens with no judicial review whatsoever (Abdulrahman al-Awlaki), a completely corrupt legislative arm, a completely corrupt & ineffectual president who seems to believe he possesses dictatorial powers, a completely corrupt and subservient newsmedia that only reports what it is told/allowed to report, legalized blacklists, legalized censorship, complete elimination of Constitutional Rule of Law and legalized forcing of the population into buying worthless overpriced “healthcare” plans practically at gunpoint.

Have you guys also said farewell to freedom?

Arizona is a relatively poor state facing a $1 billion dollar budget deficit in the coming fiscal year. Given a state constitutionally-mandated balanced budget, someone is going to take it in the shorts.

Along with a Republican businessman now in the governor’s mansion, the Republican legislature is sure to continue making tough decisions vis a vis spending. Also a given is much weeping and gnashing of teeth by Democrats, who will shout “Raise taxes” to the rooftops. We shall see how it all turns out in 2016.

How long is it going to take for this tube steak to just GTFO? I skim news headlines on about 6-8 news sites everyday and I’ve seen headlines of his demise……uh retirement for well over a month. Just fucking go already.

Dave should do one last top 10 list in the last few minutes of the last show.

Top 10 Reasons I’m An Asshole.

Loved Dave when he used to be out on the streets with people, in the corner store, in the barber shop. That’s when he was at his funniest, and I think he preferred that too. Interviewing a bunch of movie stars and politicians – I don’t think he was really impressed by these people.

Geez is this a tough room! I have great respect for Dave Letterman. Used to watch him on WISH-TV in Indy when he did weather. Later he added a radio talk show on WNTS where I previously worked on-air.
Dave’s style is snarky/sarcastic and I can see you fellow geezers didn’t quite “get it”. And that partially was by design because he was targeting Gex Xers & younger, not Boomers. Dave changed comedy, entirely, and a lot of what you see/hear today is due to him. He deserves credit.
ALSO those of you who personally attack him are way off base. The folks who’ve worked for him love him as a rule because he treats them fairly and with respect. In other words he takes care of his people. Carson was so pissed off at NBC for not giving him the “Tonight show” that Johnny wrote jokes for him, against Leno. And if you noticed a change in “Late Show” it was because he finally realized he couldn’t beat “Tonight Show” because the CBS affiliate list was much weaker, so he didn’t have the lead-in audience from late local news that “Tonight show” received automatically. He relaxed and decided to just have fun for a few years.
I don’t stay awake long enough to watch TV past the 11 O’Clock news show anymore, but I’ll miss seeing the clips from “Late Show”.

Westcoaster put it well. We think of Letterman’s style as commonplace now, but it was new when he brought it out. One of my most my most vibrant memories was being about elbow deep in my girlfriend’s cooter back in ’82-83 while Dave was on. I can never think ill of Dave after that .
