We grew up in Texas where we sang Dixie and scorned Northerners, not to the point of calling them Yankees but we were suspicious of a northern accents.
I believe it was the movie The French Connection that allowed us to see that not all northerners were scum. Then came the rash of NY movies with Al Pacino, Jon Voight that presented the city of a million stories as a dirty dumpster worse than the unforgiving cracker Florida of Cool Hand Luke.
My, but Southern women have a lovely accent. Did I tell you of the time me and Jimmy were picking up on a couple of older women and one of them, when she finally spoke, had a Jersey accent that killed me, I was surprised and if WTF? had been a popular expression back then, it would have been my question.

There are dozens of Confederate Battle Flags flying in town today as many people and some small business owners unfurled them in defiance of sissy ass PC rules, restrictions and Government BS. That and the “me too factor”. A bunch of people are flying little Battle flags from car antennas. The Battle Flags are every where you go this sunny Saturday here in BFE Texas.
Much to Wall Marts dismay their parking lot is full of Confederate flags waving from car windows and pickup truck beds. It looks like a mini Rebel Convention of Duck Dynasty people. A few Battle flags are flying below the Stars and Stripes but mostly on their own. The media really has the folks all riled up. The Cops are out watching all the people waving the flags but haven’t done or said anything that I know of.
Two doors down my wife’s sisters are doing a brisk business selling Rebel flags, Come and Take It Texas flags and such along with various Confederate, anti PC, anti Government, anti everything bumper stickers, decals, cups, coffee mugs, t-shirts and such along with a small variety of secessionist stuff. Never let a Big National distraction go to waste. Sell em the T-Shirts while their hot.
It all started this morning with a few guys waving some Battle Flags near the two main intersections in town. Besides my wife’s sisters I hear there are people selling confederate stuff at the flea markets and few along the road sides.
To show my solidarity with no one I’m flying a giant Jolly Roger over our store today.
