Without Government, Who Would Force A Men’s Barbershop To Cut Women’s Hair?

Submitted by Ryan McMaken via The Mises Institute,

A barbershop that is set up specifically to serve men, must now pay $750 dollars after a Pennsylvania state investigation into “discriminatory” practices on the part of the barbershop owners.

The owner, John Interval, was fined $750 after he declined to cut a woman’s hair. According to Interval:

“I didn’t really consider it so much a discrimination thing as – it’s a barbershop… for guys. You know, I’m not opposed to doing women’s hair…just not in this shop. I don’t even have [the equipment] to do women’s hair.” Interval said.

The potential customer, who was forced to endure the hardship of finding an establishment that cuts women’s hair, filed a complaint with the state, and following a taxpayer-funded investigation and interview period with the barbershop owners, the state levied a fine against the shop.

The shop will pay the fine, of course, because to refuse to pay would likely bring armed government agents to the establishment to serve further warrants and additional methods of state coercion including fines, lawsuits, and possible imprisonment and/or impoverishment for the owner.

An alternative to this, of course, would be to allow shop owners to dispose of their own private property as they see fit. In the United States however, a business agreement (i.e., a verbal or written contract) does not require the consent of both parties. Instead, state and federal governments employ armies of government agents to force private individuals to enter into contracts where only one party has consented to participate.

Thus, in this manner, the government carries out its essential role in mandating hair cuts (or cake baking, or wedding photography) under threat of fines and other penalties.

He even offered to pay for her haircut elsewhere, but she wasn’t interested in that offer. She was merely interested in imposing her government backed and enforced will upon the barber. Did she really want a haircut, or did she just wish to stir up some shit? Seems it would be the latter.

Government has become a weapon wielded by those on the fringes to force everyone else to live the way they want them to live, do the things they want them to do, and forbid them doing anything they disapprove of.

A pity, its original intent was the opposite, at least in America.

Obviously he handled the incident incorrectly for the current society. He should have said: “No problem, I’ll cut your hair, but I only know how to cut the styles shown in this book, I’ll do any style in this book that you want” and hand her a book of men’s hair styles. If she says no, she doesn’t want any of the styles in that book, then there’s no way that they could fine him because he’s not the one who refused. It’s a pain in the ass, but at least it would have saved him a $750 fine. Of course, he’s gotten much more than $750 free advertising out of this, so maybe that was his plan all along.

All he has to do is place a big sign that discloses price for haircuts:
Men = $15
Women = $200

I think he handled it incorrectly. There is NO law against BAD haircuts. A better way ….

Dyke: “I WANT A HAIRCUT!!”

Barber: “OK, but you should know I only know how to cut hair for men.”

Dyke: “I DON’T CARE! EQUAL RIGHTS! I WANT A HAIRCUT!!”

Barber: “Okey dokey”

Barber: “You likey, Dikey?”

I have to agree with Stucky on this one. Give the cunt the worst haircut of her life. Better yet, buzz her down to a size 2, then shave a swastika into her feminazi scalp.

This is government at its worst. There were almost certainly alternative available services in the region. Why don’t we sue the local DMV for not selling paper in bulk, using the logic that the DMV possesses paper supplies and the staff is qualified to fulfill orders?

I’d have given her my best Butch Style haircut (think crew cuts). Will male Brain Surgeons be required to deliver babies and do breast augmentations? Will football teams be required to have equal gender representation for all positions? Will Affirmative Action Discrimination that favors women become unlawful? Will government employees like politicians and judges have to treat Liberals and Conservatives equally? I’d love to see this woman demand Stucky write a research paper on the responsibility of men to serve The Women’s Crusade for Absolute Equality in the business world, in the home and in bed, especially men’s responsibility to always bring a woman to orgasm; she will already have her sword raised when Stucky gets her commercial orders. I’m seeing something like a very violent verbal Errol Flynn movie in which she becomes chum.

How is Curves and other such businesses ok — Really small business owners need to get a clue — he should give her and any other woman his standard men’s cut and bakers should bake absolutely horrible cakes for homosexual weddings or pull out a book of their designs that are just terrible, etc. Forced to photograph the wedding make sure you don’t get pictures of the kiss, dance, cake…

I have an idea for another research paper That Bitch could require Stucky to write on women’s behalf for the Joint Chiefs: Why Unit Effectiveness in Combat Should Not Trump Gender Equality Rights. Take Education for example: effective teaching has been totally eclipsed by gender and race with an incredible increase in system funding and graduation rates. These types of accomplishments can also be extended to professional Sports Teams upon full gender integration without upsetting inter-team competitiveness. Military units that are fully Gender Integrated will experience greater empathy with the enemy during actual combat and especially upon utterly humiliating defeats. We can turn pro-sports and warfare into wholesome exciting family fun.
