Can they be equipped with GPS systems that automatically send the inhabitants back to Aleppo?

My wife and I had a big conversation about VW…

The Herms actually have more stringent emissions standards than the EPA/US. It’s the configuration is what’s the problem.

The EPA sayeth: “Thou shalt do it this way, or thy automobiles shall not enter the US”… no way around that shit. The Herms figured out how to damn near eliminate emissions and make a powerful automobile – they’re damn near religious in their devotion to All Things Green – but since their methodology doesn’t conform to the Almighty EPA’s dictats, they can’t import their cars.

So, they meet the EPA’s dictats – hook our car up to your stupid machine and it meets your emissions requirements. That it mods itself afterwards and gives the consumer what they want – a car that actually accelerates when you push down on the accelerator – isn’t relevant. They met the EPA’s requirements.

Now the EPA has a massive case of butthurt because the Herms beat them at their own fucking game. And so VW – and the Herms – must be punished for winning. People – good people – are losing their jobs because they must placate the government goons at the EPA, must be shown to grovel suitably, so they can still sell their better-than-American cars and make a living…

EPA assholes just trying to justify their existence… fucking goons.

If jet engines don’t run as clean as a VW, shouldn’t all the jets be grounded until equipped with catalytic converters?

@siddell, jets are used by rich people and banksters, VW TDI’s are not.

Cynical as it may sound, a lot of things become easy to understand if you look at them through the lens of WWACMFBD:

“What would a corrupt mofo bankster do?”

Many American versions of high mileage European vehicles get less mileage and cost more than their European counterparts because they have to conform to our emission control standards (actual total emissions not being a part of that).

We need to learn to set the standards for actual emissions, not for emission controls, and let the automobile manufactures figure out how to meet it in any manner they find best for their vehicles.

I imagine someone somewhere has the stats for the actual emissions of the European VW’s and their American versions, but I don’t know where to look for it. I would like to see it, just for a comparison demonstrating the value of our emission control laws if nothing else.
