Donald Trump vs. Hillary Clinton on Freedom of Speech – A Side By Side Comparison

Guest Post by Michael Krieger

In effect, he believes that he is running to be the CEO of the country — not just of the government but of the entire country. In this capacity, he believes that he will make deals with other countries that cause the U.S. to come out on top, whatever that could mean. He conjures up visions of himself or one of his associates sitting across the table from some Indian or Chinese leader and making wild demands that they will buy such and such amount of product else “we” won’t buy their product.

What’s distinct about Trumpism, and the tradition of thought it represents, is that it is non-leftist in its cultural and political outlook and yet still totalitarian in the sense that it seeks total control of society and economy and places no limits on state power. The left has long waged war on bourgeois institutions like family, church, and property. In contrast, right fascism has made its peace with all three. It (very wisely) seeks political strategies that call on the organic matter of the social structure and inspire masses of people to rally around the nation as a personified ideal in history, under the leadership of a great and highly accomplished man.

Trump believes himself to be that man.

He sounds fresh, exciting, even thrilling, like a man with a plan and a complete disregard for the existing establishment and all its weakness and corruption. This is how strongmen take over countries. They say some true things, boldly, and conjure up visions of national greatness under their leadership. They’ve got the flags, the music, the hype, the hysteria, the resources, and they work to extract that thing in many people that seeks heroes and momentous struggles in which they can prove their greatness.

– From Jeffrey Tucker’s brilliant article: Trumpism: The Ideology

If you want to support Donald Trump go right ahead. Just be honest with yourself about who and what you are really supporting.

Angering the corrupt and incompetent status quo with hateful commentary demonizing minorities does not make you a lover of freedom and liberty. Indeed, as Jeffrey Tucker so accurately noted earlier this year, Trump isn’t about restoring America’s heritage. He’s about “Making America Great Again.”

So what does that mean exactly? If you listen to him, it’s pretty straight forward. “Making America Great Again” means putting someone “great” in charge of America, and Trump thinks he has discovered such greatness in himself. It has nothing to do with going back to what actually made America great for a couple of centuries, which is America’s founding principles. No, such talk is for egghead intellectuals who won’t defend America from the barbarian hordes stampeding at our doorstep. Trump, on the other hand, promises to protect you like that powerful billionaire daddy you never had. Some sacrifices will need to be made of course, such as the outdated and increasingly irrelevant Bill of Rights, but they’re kind of gone anyway, right?

If you support Trump, you are consciously or unconsciously turning your back on everything that actually did make American great. He will be no different than George W. Bush, Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton when it comes to the U.S. Constitution. He loathes it for the same reason they did and do; it restrains their dictatorial abilities as President. The only difference, is that Trump will convince his supporters to ignore that inconvenient truth, because as he destroys civil liberties with one hand, he will use his increased power to abuse helpless minorities with the other. The “red meat” that he will throw to his supporters will consist of going after the weakest and most vulnerable segments of the U.S. population (Mexicans, Muslims), while leaving the rich and powerful elite criminals untouched (Wall Street, the military-industrial complex). As I noted yesterday on Twitter:

Problem is Trump is full of shit and will only go after the weak. If he told me he’d throw Bernanke in jail, then I’d listen.

If you still don’t get how anti-Constitution and disdainful of liberty Donald Trump truly is, let’s take a look a portion from one of his speeches yesterday.

“We’re losing a lot of people because of the Internet. We have to see Bill Gates and a lot of different people who really understand what’s happening and maybe, in some ways, closing that Internet up in some ways. Somebody will say, ‘Oh, freedom of speech, freedom of speech.’ These are foolish people, we have a lot of foolish people. We’ve got to maybe do something with the Internet because they’re recruiting by the thousands, they’re leaving our country, and then when they come back, we take them back.”

It’s also important to see how the man delivers these words. Watch the clip below:

He is downright dismissive of free of speech and calls First Amendment defenders “foolish people.” He is clearly troubled by the notion that free speech could come in the way of King Trump’s vision for “Making America Great,” and there’s nothing more anti-American than that.

This, of course, is not to say that any of the other leading candidates are better. For example, Hillary Clinton was just heard saying the following:

“We’re going to have to have more support from our friends in the technology world to deny online space. Just as we have to destroy [ISIS’s] would-be caliphate, we have to deny them online space. And this is complicated. You’re going to hear all of the usual complaints, you know, freedom of speech, et cetera. But if we truly are in a war against terrorism and we are truly looking for ways to shut off their funding, shut off the flow of foreign fighters, then we’ve got to shut off their means of communicating. It’s more complicated with some of what they do on encrypted apps, and I’m well aware of that, and that requires even more thinking about how to do it.”

Now take a watch:

So there you have it. We now know, without a shadow of a doubt, that the two leading candidates for the Presidency of these United States are actively lobbying against freedom of speech and for a crackdown on the Internet. If we as Americans lose free speech, it’s 100% game over.

The obvious point here is that Trump is no different than Hillary when it comes to civil liberties and the Constitution. He is a great showman, and he is putting on a wonderful spectacle for the plebs so they think they finally have a real choice. But there is no choice. Every candidate running for President this century has been an authoritarian with fascist tendencies. Trump’s no different, he’s just a much better salesperson. And he’s not selling you America, or American principles. He’s selling you himself as an unrestrained strongman.

J fish, Trump is controlling the media and the GOP that hates his ass. The Mother Fucker turned 200 million into Billions. He’s got this, mention President Trump every night in your prayers and maybe the gods of this Fourth Turning will forgive you.

If I believed voting would do any good I would write in Putin. A real patriot with some big brass ones; our pathetic excuse for a leader is still searching for his on the golf course…

Of course what I truly want is to have a “none of the above” option. The mere act of desiring public office should be a permanent & irrevocable disqualification to holding it.

Admin says Trumps a fucking idiot? Really? Let’s discuss this tomorrow morning. You’re an MBA correct? We will discuss Trump turning 200 million daddy left him into Billions. What fucking school did graduate from that that equals an idiot? He’s marketed the Trump brand brilliantly over the years. Sensetti will chew your ass up and spit you out should you be foolish enough to wade into this conversation. Trumps a self made Billionaire and brilliant at marketing, hence he leads the GOP that hates his ass. Checkmate.

Sensetti, it’s better than that. Trump’s daddy didn’t pass away till 1999. Trump was already a billionaire by that point. Trump tower was finished in 1983. He had been building skyscrapers for 25 years before he got his father’s money.

Admin comes across as delusional when he’s usually very omniscient. He thinks Trumps an Idiot? Really? Trump controls the media, usually a political candidate chases the news, fuck, the news chases Trump! He has the GOP shitting their pants, no shit! And Admin thinks Trumps an idiot, no Trumps a Savior in this Fourth Turning. Hitler was the Savior of the last Fourth Turning! Trump will be the next President of this land mass, and I will vote for him, have already sent him money, but at the same time I understand history and plan on setting out the shake down. But Trumps you’re best chance, chose wisely!! Hell Comes Your Way!

Star I wil anxiously await Admins Attack on me in the morning. But unlike you, I’ll kick his ass! How did you let him get away with calling Trump an Idiot? Admins a numbers guy, bury his ass with the numbers! If you’ve got just two brain cells to rub together you know the Don is not an idiot. Right now Donald Trump has a very smart group of people sitting around a table they are controlling the message, the media, and public opinion like no other Presidential candidate has done in history………but the poor Ole Dons an idiot. Bring it on, I’ll stomp that stupid shit from here till Jesus comes back!!!!!!

@Suzanna/sanna, I missed this debate/discussion because I am horrified at the prospect of either of them, but since I haven’t registered to vote here and don’t plan on it, I am with you… my vote is with my feet.

Now The Moon is a Harsh Mistress has an excellent idea! If only we could elect “NONE OF THE ABOVE.” Wouldn’t that be great? To listen as the votes are tallied and discover that we have elected an empty chair (remember the empty chair phenom a few years ago?) to be our President. And empty chair has lots of potential to do a better job than several of the last few elected POS.

I fell for Perot, hoping that a man with that many hand-drawn charts knew what he was talking about. By the time I realized I’d been had, I’d been had.

I don’t want to have to endure Hillary preening and playing kissass with all her Feminazi brigades in their traveling pantsuits, but I also don’t want Trump if he’s only in it for the self-aggrandizement. And apparently, since it seems that the election is to be decided before the election year begins, I guess that once again, we are stuck with no real choices.

I plan on continuing to meet neighbors here, raise my rabbits for meat, chickens for eggs and do what we came here to do. The rest is theater.

@HSF… why aren’t there maps on the news? I’ve been looking for some since you mentioned that. You are accurate. Not there… not even on our Weather, except for the smallest of areas around the local region.

Jeebuz Krist Sensetti, you need to ease up on those late night whiskey enemas. Hitler was the fucking savior? Of what?

admin’s about the only one making sense here. Trump is not part of the club. The only reason why you even hear about him is because he’s financing his own campaign. Were it not for that, the media, which only covers his comments hoping he eventually self immolates, as well as the dems and even his own party are trying to bury his ass.

Trust me, once TPTB sit him down for his come to Jesus informational meeting, he’ll either bail, toe THEIR fucking line or take his chances dodging bullets, cut brake lines and crashing airplanes. My guess is they’ll threaten to disappear his fortune or some of his family and he’ll bail.

That you really think TPTB are just going to roll over and give up command is beyond stupid.

@Jfish said:
“I will still vote.”

Why? To lend them legitimacy? To give them your vote of confidence that they’ll pull out before they cum? Which President in your lifetime has deserved your vote?

I’m comparing Trump to Hilter in only one aspect, outsiders rise to power in fourth turnings. How Trump performs once elected is yet to be seen. My hopes are he’ll put the American people first not foreign nationals as Odama does. I know quite a few Democrats that are going to vote for Trump his followers are much larger than the polls reflect.

Indentured – I vote because there are degrees of separation between candidates. I also believe that politics matter (especially at the local & state levels). We may disagree on this but I suppose I’m not as jaded as you at this time.

Regarding the quality/qty of post here, don’t be such a control freak. That said tho, I do appreciate your input & will try.

The Donald is crazy like a fox. He says something completely offside. Then the media runs around like someone else said earlier with their hair on fire. Then for next week or so all anyone wants to do is talk about him. Christ, he doesn’t even have to campaign. Everyone else does it for him. I was at the curling rink last night. Spend better part of three hours on ice playing game. However there it was on TV that I could see thru window into bar. It was tuned to MSNBC. Thankfully I don’t get this channel at home. It has been described at left leaning. What I saw removed any doubts. For almost the entire time the captions running below talking heads ran Donald this, Donald that. He has completely hijacked the debate. But he is from central casting the perfect foil in his role for this part of 4th turning.

haha

I need to curl to get respect around here…………

only kidding…

Anyways

Pretty sad though when you see the so-called debate on TV. After I got off the ice and sat at table for postmortem of game we played. We won, not that it matters. I looked up at TV again and here was this talking head trying explain that Ted Cruz is really in front if you “looked inside the numbers” of whatever poll he was on about using whatever tortured logic he could lay his hands on. We live in a world where up is down and right is wrong. The Donald does something that should sink him yet somehow the opposite happens. It was then that I thought I had entered the twilight zone. MSNBC was doing a pump job for Ted Cruz. WTF!

But once one realizes the extent of the disconnect between media/political class and everyone else it starts to make sense. Joe Six Pack and Betty Big Steins are so pissed off and angry right now that it would not surprise me that two months from now Trump is standing on stage holding up a middle finger and the audience stands and applauds. Everyone too stupid not realize that that finger is meant for not just the other GOP candidates or Hillary and her clown show but for the whole country, the whole world.

One more San Bernadino type event and things are going to get real ugly. The media and elites know this implicitly.

This 4th turning is getting is getting ready to upend everything.

The “degrees of separation” are mostly how deep they fuck you or whether they use lube. Politics is just useless fluff and bullshit. RESULTS are what matters. Voting is probably more effective at the local level particularly when it comes to bond issues and propositions. Local elections tend to be Double A training camps for the big leagues of Mordor on the Potomac.

Again, which President during your lifetime has deserved your vote………..and why?

“Regarding the quality/qty of post here, don’t be such a control freak.”

The hope was to inspire control from within to maintain or improve the signal to noise ratio. Hope has always been overrated. Again, welcome!

Have at it Jfish.

I have found though it it is better to put the soapbox away once in a while. Myself I will abstain, so to speak, for sometimes weeks on end. Then I will post quite a bit. I’m still working thru my writing style/voice. For it to evolve organically stepping back helps refine it. What is important and special for me about the TBP is that it is a venue for me to do this.

You will find after a while and some practice that your style will become something unique to you. There was a time when the Liberal Arts Universities did this. They then became infested with Social Justice Warrior’s, their safe spaces, circular arguments and agendas. In this age of political correctness we need permission to have dangerous ideas.

At least that is how I feel.
