Question of the Day, Apr 4

Just wrapped up my own taxes, just in time to send in estimated forms for local, state, & fed next week along with checks for all their hard work in helping my business. What, if any taxes should we pay or what should they pay for? Oh, and taxation is theft.

I didn’t build it, but I appreciate having roads that are maintained.
I appreciate education provided by the local community, but without Federal influence via bribery.
I appreciate owning a home with indoor plumbing, heating, AC, hot water, appliances, septic systems, all of which should have licensed/knowledgeable people to build/install.
Some governance is required to ensure reliability, safety, performance of above.

In other words, some taxation is required as compensation for order and sustenance. It is unfortunate that humans who gravitate to government do so for power, control, enrichment and the result is always excess.

Only property owners should be allowed to vote.

Willful ignorance tax. You can practice cognitive dissonance – but only for a fee.

fair tax rate = 0.0%
people who should pay taxes = 0

provide for your damn self and if you can’t and no one is willing to pay your way (ie parents paying for their child) then you die and make the human race stronger by your omission.
now that’s truly progressive

In my thinking property taxes are the most evil . You never really own anything that cannot be taken away

Taxes for services that benefit each and every person and won’t work without universal use and support. I think roads, fire fighting and public health can be argued to fit in this category. Police is more tenuous but if you imagine any sort of mandatory tax, then an enforcement mechanism will be needed.

This doesn’t fit into Libertarian theory, but I’m skeptical that Libertarian theory survives reductio ad absurdum.

Beyond that – stealing my money for aircraft carriers, color revolutions, Pentagon boondoggles, grants to study transgendered owls, hiring useless “teachers” for faraway schools that fail their students – none of that is justifiable.

None of this really matters because we’re all just a bunch of peasants complaining that the King’s thugs are mean. The veneer of democracy is simply a control mechanism.

At one time it was for infrastructure. Then the infrastructure grew more and more complex. Now I doubt we can every replace the infrastructure (California freeways, NY water and sewer, electric grid, etc) We are fucked.

What gall’s me the most, and what is abused the most, is the ‘extension’ of representative government, where since they are elected, they can pass any law (tax) that they want, and spend with wild abandon.

Here in Minneapolis, I have a friend that has a hardware store. He decided to sell a half dozen different candy bars, not a big deal. Well you need a license to sell snack food. That’s right, buy a box of candy bars, all wrapped, etc, and you need to pay $100 a year to sell it.

Several years ago, I gutted a bathroom. Got a 1/2 size dumpster, took me about 3 days to gut the bathroom. I received a bill from the city – there is a charge for my dumpster to ‘occupy’ the street. It’s a residential street.

I can’t wait for this racket / house of cards / to collapse.

I actually agree with bb for once. Property taxes are worse than any other form. You should be able to work hard, pay for your land, build your house, and own it free and clear with no one else having any claim to it. In America today, you never really own any property, not truly. If you doubt this, try not paying your property tax for a while and see what happens. Its truly fucking disgusting.

And I actually don’t mind paying a little bit of money for road maintenance, fire department, a police dept that ONLY deals with crimes against people or their property(no more busting people for a plant, hiding behind buildings to catch people roll through a stop sign, etc). The problem is that very little of the money STOLEN from us actually goes towards those things. It goes towards wars of aggression, interest on our mammoth debt, and entitlement programs that perpetuate poverty and the shifting of responsbility to younger generations. So, until those things are done away with, I have a pretty big problem with taxes. Id pay a voluntary fee for the things I listed above, none of which needs to be done by a government entity, but this entire corrupt facade needs to crumble away first.

Taxes…Because government knows better than you how to spend your money, er their money….and they readily admit it.

When asked what his problem was with letting local school districts spend tax dollars the way they saw fit, Bill Clinton snapped back: “Because it’s not their money.”

In 1999, when the government was running a surplus, many taxpayers felt that getting back some of their money was a reasonable policy. When asked about this, President Clinton responded, “We could give it all back to you and hope you spend it right.”

Speaking about G.W. Bush’s tax cuts Hillary said that those tax cuts had to be done away with. “We’re going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good.”

People such as the Clintons and the AGs wanting to prosecute climate change deniers need their own auto-da-fe’

My adjusted gross income for 2015 was $1008.00 dollars.. I filed the Fed return to take advantage of a sorry stock pick where I lost a few thou and wanted it on record to offset future positive returns.

For 2015, I will file no Federal taxes at all simply because my adjusted gross income is below the threshold that requires filing and I have no further stock transactions in 2015.

It takes a lot of planning not to pay taxes.. I worked 45 years on and off overseas or on per diem so I either never paid taxes or they were completely covered by the per diem (which is tax free).

I continue to be careful that I never have earned income – therefore no taxes either.

So there..

In Wyoming I lived on a private road. Us & two other houses. When there was a problem with the road, we worked it out, no taxes, no government, no problem. It may not work with highways, but I’m in favor of privatizing the whole damn thing, and renaming the gubmint the highway department, and going from there.

Taxes should not be used for any form of welfare, including SS, Medicare, Medicaid, health products of any kind, food stamps, Etc ad infinitum. That should be a private matter.

Not for foreign aid, either.

Or for excess military. Or being a police state. Not for supporting the UN.

Not for paying the salaries of union workers. Anyone edifying govt pay should not be allowed to strike, or donate money to any political organisation.

Not for subsidies of any kind.

There are a lot more nots. Subtract all of them, and what is left is probably OK.

The result would be taxes of around 15% of current expenditures.

I once did a study of federal expenditures from the budget. By my count, over 96% of all federal spending is unconstitutional.

Property taxes are the worst …. and the worst thing about property taxes is when they tax improvements. Even Satan isn’t that cruel.

About 10 years ago my dad replaced the original shingles on his small 1960s ranch home with vinyl siding. Upon completion, within a month, he got a significant property tax increase …. in the THOUSANDS of dollars when you consider it is a PERMANENT increase, and he’ll pay for that increase for the rest of his life. Guess what, the NEXT owner will also pay for it, because they never decrease taxes. He got central air. Property tax increase. He got a shed …. a small motherfucking shed … and the gov-whores had to get money forever for that. Just had too.

Meanwhile, the niggers in our thankfully very small nigger section live in shitfuk disgustingly ugly falling-down homes and they pay the absolute minimum tax. According to The State, it seems urban plight is much more beneficial than folks who want a nice neighborhood.

Taxmen deserve death. (Of natural causes, of course.)

Actually Stuck, not true. Where they actually have a real assessor’s office, structure taxes are based on condition to a large extent, taxes go down all the time, hell, even land drops based on sales as long as you can keep the taxing authorities from raising the mill levy.

Property taxes suck. But they are not the worst.

Fa and away the worst are payroll taxes – taxes that penalise employers for hiring employees. There can be no stupider tax than that – taxed for employng someone. Think about that.

Bea, that life can’t be so good. Seeing your compadres working away while you smoke dope will eat you up with guilt.

Hey, Beaufort, You hardly see new antennas here in this valley. The few antennas I’ve seen up here are rusty old things that somebody forgot to take down. I know of another guy across town with a new antenna. Weak dicks rely on the dish. Those things are everywhere. I got my antenna up a few months ago and today I saw that a guy just around the corner has this shiny huge antenna up. Now I will have to go bigger than my 10 footer. Fuck yeah.

The revolution has begun, it won’t be televised.

llpoh, I disagree. property taxes are worse. You stop your business, stop hiring, and decide to live off your land, grow food, not hire anyone for anything. You have no loan for your property, or the house/structures you build on that land. you own it free and clear. But, unfortunately, you don’t own it free and clear, you still have to pay a vig, each year. or people with guns come and take your place from you.

Property tax prevents people from ever living a truly self sufficient lifestyle.

This whole tax thing is way out of hand for me as I have to file 7 different returns each year and pay 5 property tax bills while my income continues to go backward. The only way out for me is to become a free shiter. What do you think?

If you live in a community and avail yourself to those services, then you should have to contribute. It should be rated not by property holdings, but even divided between residents. You don’t like it, find another place. Federal Government should receive all of it’s funding from foreign sources- tariffs, levies, etc. Internal Federal services like interstates should be paid for by tolls- you use them, you pay, you don’t, you don’t.

Tax is theft. No gov = no extortion= freedom. We need zero gov, no passports, no borders, no jew banksters ripping off the people. – Jack Something

1. This pie-in-the-sky nonsense will only work – will ONLY WORK – in a homogeneous, moral nation.

Tell me, Jack… when was the last time we were a moral, homogeneous nation?

2. “No borders”?

The fuck are you on? No borders means NO COUNTRY. No nation. We have millions of freeloading troglodyte mouth-breathers hopping the joke of a border we have right now. The fuck you think will happen if we just did away with borders altogether?

This is where I break with the hard-core Libertarians. Sorry – this nation was created by Christian white Europeans FOR OTHER Christian white Europeans. I refuse to shit on that by doing away with sovereign borders…

“With equal pleasure I have as often taken notice, that Providence has been pleased to give us this one connected country to one united people -a people descended from the same ancestors, speaking the same language, professing the same religion, attached to the same principles of government, very similar in their manners and customs, and who, by they their joint counsels, arms, and efforts, fighting side by side throughout a long and bloody war, have nobly established general liberty and independence.” – John Jay

I’m a staunch anti-federalist, but Jay nailed it.
