Villanova has now been involved in two of the greatest Final games in NCAA history. They were overwhelming underdogs against the Patrick Ewing led Georgetown Hoyas in 1985. They played a nearly perfect game and still won by only 2 points. It stands as the greatest Final in my book. Last night, every expert picked North Carolina with their monster sized front line, to crush Nova. It wasn’t meant to be.
The Villanova team represented everything you should love about amateur sports. There probably isn’t an NBA level player on their roster, they are undersized, and come from a program that doesn’t nearly have the resources as North Carolina. But, they had heart, grit, determination, and a never say die attitude. Their coach, Jay Wright, is one of the classiest, nicest coaches in the country, and also one of the best at designing defenses to stop big men.
The game will go down as one of the five best in NCAA Finals history. The last 15 seconds were spectacular. I’m proud to be an alumnus of Villanova. They deserve all the accolades they are getting today. GO NOVA!!!

I played baseball, softball, street hockey, football and basketball for fun as a kid and young adult. I enjoyed playing sports and I enjoy watching it played well.

I have no idea how people ever got hooked on watching a bunch of stupid apes play with a ball. Dumbest shit I have ever witnessed. Bragging about who got the most imaginary points for tossing a ball through a ring or running with a ball through some golden arches is senseless. I guess the distractions of bouncing balls, flickering lights, flashy costumes, buzzing buzzers, and all the clapping seals in the seats takes their minds off the realities of the world. I would rather weed my garden or mend fences.
And by the way they are not a team from NC, or Syracuse etc. They are mostly shipped in from some other states. Recruited because they are better at playing with a ball than others are. This increases revenue to the school which enriches the administrators personal wealth.
I do not believe non-resident students should be eligible for the “team” any more than I believe a copfuk with less than 10 years a resident should be eligible to be on the “force”. No allegiance to the community comes to mind.

Come on Admin, Playing sports in our youth is entirely different from the money grabbing scheme that has become college and professional sports. Meeting friends at the local ballpark for a fun game and good exercise is a wonderful thing but much like Chutes and Ladders or Candyland, we should outgrow the false sense of accomplishment.
The whole sports and entertainment industry is capital destruction. Such a waste of time and resources. There is almost zero creation of wealth in the industry as it is a transfer of wealth instead. Investments in Agriculture, Minerals and Mining, and Manufacturing are wealth creation and what is lacking in our society. SNAP and Sports = Bread and Circuses.

admin, I worded that poorly. Although I like football, I rarely watch it anymore because of those reasons I listed. And I used to primarily watch college football, but I rarely do because of the reasons I listed. Typically the only time ill watch that is when Im with friends that do(I occasionally come out of my bunker once all my guns are polished).
