Question of the Day, May 19

On hold with the IRS, they screwed up my taxes. 30-60 minute wait after going through 7 menus and entering my ss#. Sounds right. Is our massive government imploding upon itself?

My son sold his business and had to write the IRS a check for over $70k last month.

I don’t think I could do that……………what did the government do to warrant that type of return and this is after paying his taxes every quarter.

The government didn’t work five years for no wages, the government didn’t spend nights and weekends working for free to build a cash flow.

Fairfuckingsharemyass.

Mike- I think they are sending out tax refund checks in lieu of crediting future taxes due in hopes that you will cash the check and spend it shopping to help get the retailers out of hot water. Now get out there and stimulate the economy. 🙂

Mike, it’s imploding but not fast enough to save you from the fine upstanding citizens who work at the IRS.

I think I just threw up a little in my mouth.

Mike, I just saw your comment……..why bother calling them? Just save the check and sign it before mailing it back with your next payment?

“Is our massive government imploding upon itself?”

Answer: Definitely. Just look at the Obamacare rollout mess. Faster it implodes, the better.

And I agree with IS on just cashing the check. Why give them interest free money?

RU, already paid the quarterly, credited a month ago, by cashing it, I’ll pay penalties.

The IRS problem is just one symptom of a much larger problem that encompass government as a whole.

I doubt it is a problem with a solution, sort of like a terminal inoperable cancer: Maybe you’ll naturally recover from it on your own but most likely not and no one knows of any case where it has actually happened to give you hope.

why is a business responsible for doing the employees bookkeeping. then audited with large fines in the event all is not square. the employee should be considered contract labor let the real world dawn on them. t hen a small VAT would work, people happy to make money. cash would once again be king.

For the first time in 7 years I got an 870 dollar refund .I was thinking something got to be wrong but I cashed the check anyway. Took my mom out for a nice dinner .Apparently I paid more than I was suppose to.

bb…Shouldn’t that $780 gone towards your medical bills or are you still crowd-funding?

I not paying those medical bills . Period. I will not have part of my life savings destroyed. I have paid taxes since I was 18 and now I’m 53.If that’s not good enough for this world it can go fuck itself.

My employer is based in a different state than I live in, so they do not do any state income tax with holding from my checks and as a result, every quarter I have to send a big chunk of money off to the state. It does make it more painful to see it go in big chunks and as a result of my action. If I had to do a similar thing for the federal taxes, it would really be painful.

If we add up all our various taxes it surely must be 50%!!

We totally resent that.

Mike,
Hahahaha, i assumed (a fair assumption) they fucked up the other way.

My brother in law was supposed to get a 1600 refund but someone at the irs entered it as owed instead of being a refund so they deducted an additional 1600 from his paycheck and hes been waiting weeks to be refunded his 1600 and the additional 1600 that was stolen.

Fuck this system, cant wait for it to crash and burn.
Get training people, shit aint gonna be hunky-dory.
