As well as voting in the presidential election earlier this week, some Americans also had their say on whether marijuana should be legalised across several US states. California, Massachusetts, Maine, and Nevada all voted to legalise recreational marijuana. The vote doubled the number of states where lighting up is legal – legislation was already passed in Colorado, Alaska, Washington, and Oregon.

Arkansas, Florida, Montana and North Dakota all voted to legalise weed for medical use. Arizona was an exception, however, voting against decriminalising the green stuff for recreational purposes. California in particular is expected to have a massive market for recreational marijuana, larger than Colorado, Washington, Oregon and Alaska combined.

Liberals, in my opinion, do have some good arguments. Few, but some.

Almost everything is NOT the business of the government.

Maybe if the liberals on the west coast spent a little time enjoying some weed, they would calm down and realize the world is not coming to an end.

I have no problem legalizing people’s use of MJ as long as they keep it out of my face and leave me alone when they do it. Let people do what they want and leave them alone as long as they aren’t infringing on others or endangering them in the process.

I do have a problem with legalizing an industry in it which is what is actually been done in the name of legalizing its personal use.

Industries promote themselves and their products and work to expand the market for them.

We already have two drug industries promoting their products (alcohol and tobacco) and IMO we don’t need to add another.

@ Bea Lever, who said, “This election has made me think about a relationship with Mary Jane, besides its good for your glaucoma and cataracts. SSS just went, Dohhhh!”

My state of AZ is the only state which rejected marijuana for personal use. Some very powerful ads from a former Colorado governor and former Colorado mayor (Denver, a black guy) blew the pro-pot crowd out of the water in this state with the truth ………….. legalizing pot is a disaster.

In the long run, my views on personal usage of pot will be validated – decriminalize, not legalize.

As long as people who shouldn’t smoke pot don’t, I see no problem with it. And we’ll need the hemp – for rope.
(Who shouldn’t smoke pot? Airline pilots, truck drivers, boat pilots, forklift drivers, people designing bridges, designing roads, designing aircraft, designing buildings, ….. anyone who has a position that requires fast reflexes, rigorous mathematics, engineering judgement, or impacting public safety in real time or as a consequence of constructing real facilities ….)
