Obama won’t call off anti-Trump protesters

President Obama won’t try to call off protests against Donald Trump, he said Thursday, ignoring pleas from the president-elect’s advisers to denounce the nationwide demonstrations.
“I would not advise people who feel strongly or are concerned about some of the issues that have been raised over the course of the campaign, I would not advise them to be silent,” Obama said during a joint news conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
Obama said protests are just something Trump would have to get used to as the leader of the free world.
“I’ve been the subject of protests during the course of my eight years,” he said. “And I suspect that there’s not a president in our history that hasn’t been subject to these protests.”
The comments were Obama’s most extensive about the demonstrations against Trump that have sprouted up in numerous major cities.
The mostly peaceful demonstrations have featured people chanting and holding up signs that say “not my president.” Marches in Indianapolis and Portland, Ore., however, have turned violent.
Trump has slammed protests against him, accusing demonstrators of being paid off and egged on by the media.
Kellyanne Conway, who served as Trump’s campaign manager, said it’s the responsibility of Obama and Hillary Clinton to quell the protests.
“It’s time really for President Obama and Secretary Clinton to say to these protesters, ‘This man is our president,’ ” she said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”
Obama responded that the right of free speech should be exercised and not be taken for granted.
“I can say across Europe that many principles that have been taken for granted here around free speech, and around civil liberties and an independent judiciary, and fighting corruption,” the president said.
“Those are principles that, you know, not perfectly but generally, we have tried to apply not just in our own country but also with respect to our foreign policy.”
The protests Obama has been subject to are the ones he wants, the ones he encourages as a political tool to get his way.
I don’t recall much at all in the way of anti-Obama protests, particularly violent ones.
These protests should Peter out as the cost/benefit is negative. No point in street agitation during Xmas unless you really want to piss people off.
The real danger for rioting will be when Trump begins the deportations! The left will go all out to stop that because it’s irreversible if Trump succeeds. In fact Obama may try and issue a mass immigration pardon as his final act of hatred!

Protesting is one thing, the idiots can protest all they want. But rioting, blocking traffic, breaking windows, damaging cars, beating people, throwing rocks at police, making death threats, etc., etc. are NOT “protesting” they are criminal actions and should be treated as such. All of those people should go to prison for a long, long time. And if you say that there’s not enough room in the prisons – there’s an easy fix, just let out all the people in prison for victimless crimes. I’d much rather have a bunch of potheads wandering around than these people.
I’m not one usually thinking about conspiracy theories, but I would not be at all surprised if Obama and Hillary aren’t encouraging the protestors because they feel that if they are out in the streets long enough that the deplorables (us) will engage and give them the excuse to use martial law.
Protesting and breaking the law are two different things. Enforce the law. Oh wait they don’t do that much anymore never mind me.
