Did we ever see anything like this from our space station? Been an amazing difference in technology between Shuttle-Mir days and now, huh?
Can I get a good shitfest started over whether the moon landing and at least some of NASA’s achievements during the latter quarter of the twentieth century were just theater and good propaganda for dissipating American tax dollars in a way that could not be traced?

I stopped watching after 10 seconds because the so-called shots from “space” show a round earth …… which we now know is total bullshit. Just ask H_F.
fuckit
Ms Freud and I are going to the 10:30AM showing of what appears to be a very fine sci-fi movie, Arrival. Fucken aliens probably come from a round planet as well.
Then, at 1PM, we’re gonna see Hacksaw Ridge. A fun day.
I didn’t see it yet. My wife doesn’t like war movies so if I go I will see on my own. Historical accuracy would be my interest but sadly for most in wider world I am guessing the pacifism would be main angle to be explored. Most people I meet take tact that it is better to seek high moral ground then to play in the muck and get blood on their hands. My wife and I just got into long debate about socially convenient debate when out in public. She is imploring me to bite my tongue more when out and about. It is interesting for me to see the evolution of war movies over the years.
From the slogans and no blood.

I find it interesting how war and violence is sold by Hollywood over the years.

Stucky, the round earth is a distortion caused by the camera lens.

It’s definitely historical. Desmond Doss (the pacifist) did rescue a bunch of soldiers on Hacksaw Ridge, Okinawa. Of course, I’m also 100% certain that Gibson used a certain amount of “artistic license” to spruce up the story for the viewing public …. and to make HIS OWN political/moral points. I mean …. he did it to JESUS, so why not Doss?!
I really wouldn’t know what those changes to the real story are without doing a lot of research. I think historical accuracy is a wonderful thing, but I’m more interested in the the story’s moral underpinnings.
Ms. Freud is hogging the computer, so I hope to have something up by tomorrow.

I have thought a bit more about it and maybe accuracy is not as important as the message being sent.
Besides in war the first casualty is the truth. So there isn’t much point fretting too much about it in a movie.

You should do a movie review. I’d be interested in knowing what you thought of it.
There is no action, just a shot of earth and the interior of the space station. What’s to review, the chrome handles on the equipment drawers?
EC
I was referring to the movie Hacksaw Ridge.
I knew that, Rob. But I made my reputation with snide and snarky comments like that; I built up a lot of stored credibility over the years.
I told a newbie once that when they post, they should re-read their comment and make sure it says what they intended.
Like BB, I already saw Choctaw Ridge with Bobbie Benson back in the 70’s. Remakes tend to fall flat.
Indent Service is going to get a real hard on watching this.As for me , already been there. It’s all just more space.
BB, your an asstronaut? I pictured you as the silver surfer on your rig but I never guessed you were the real deal.

I think I just might do a review on Hacksaw Ridge.
Did you see it? What angle are you interested in regarding my opinion? The pacifism? The incredible gory scenes? Historical accuracy?
