The speed bump / cross walk system set up at a 4 way intersection with lovely brick work and an elvated “traffic calming set up that will be destroyed when the first major snow hits and the plows run over everything in their path ! The point is one leg of the 4 way is a dead end , another is not a thru Street while only 2 are thru on a circular drive that is local only so a couple stop signs a few rumble strips and reflectors at most all cheaper effective and easier to repair but WTF the pension plans for county employees is insolvent I suppose they will be coming to me with there fucking hand out again ! They can all fuck off boat Guy is tapped out and ready to throw down !

first they pave the pot hole road you use every day, that lasts for about 3 weeks.

then the dig up a strip, to change the 20 year old rusted culvert, and patch it with a strip of asphalt that is about 1 inch higher than the road bed. that last for the rest of the year.

then winter comes and the plow tears up this intelligent design.

now it will remain a series of patched and re-patched bumps, until the next election, when just before the election, they pave the road again, and the cycle is restarted.

you have just entered the townie zone, where bureaucracies are born and dysfunction is the result.

oh, don’t forget, we are going to put in curbs, to ensure the plow blades have something to hit next winter.

As a civil engineer, I can see TBP readers just don’t understand the brilliance of this design.

First, by elevating the catch basin a detention pond is created in the street which prevents downstream flooding and preserves the “pristine” streams that this catch basin empties into.

Second, if all that dirty water can never get into the catch basin, the storm sewers will never get plugged and need to be cleaned out.

While this design may create some inconvenience for citizens, it is more than balanced by the protecting the downstream environment and reducing the work of government employees.

See, there is a reason for everything.

Here in Texas, we offer prayers to Our Lady of Perpetual Reconstruction. I have watched the same crew dig up and rebury the same culvert protector at least eight times, in the last two years, on the same street. It never varies. They dig it up. It stays that way for three weeks, some people climb in and out of it, stare into it, then it gets reburied. I have watched the same busy intersection in the middle of town, dug up, sit there untouched for two months, finally reformed, poured, blocked off for at least three months, opened up at the worst possible time of day, and dug up and let sit there for another two months, etc. at least ten times. A recent highway construction that widened a dangerous two lane into six lanes, over the course of FIVE YEARS, and six miles, is now chronically being closed off to, you guessed it, two lanes, over and over again. Nothing being done,actually, the four lanes just get closed off, and stay that way, to be suddenly opened, and just as suddenly closed again, a week later. It took TWELVE years to complete a similar widening across town, with similar steps, because we had to go through twelve city managers and mayors before one of them stepped up and actually spent the money approved, gathered and sitting there for FIFTEEN years got into motion. I think all of this is being done just to keep everyone mad at one another, and their eyes off city management. They are the worst.
