The more specific a resolution is the more likely to accomplish it.

If it isn’t specific you can’t measure progress, and if you can’t form steps and measure the progress toward it since you have no feedback on whether you are doing anything about it or not.

That’s why new years resolutions are barely more than wishful thinking for most people that make them, no matter how much they intend to keep them.
