Georgetown Professor Michael Eric Dyson is proposing the idea that white people should have an ‘Individual Reparations Account’ to make donations to black institutions and individuals.
The idea is part of his forthcoming book, “Tears We Cannot Stop: A Sermon to White America.”
Dyson made the argument during an interview with Ana Marie Cox in the January 8 edition of the New York Times Magazine.

At the end of your sermon, you do a “benediction” section, in which you talk about making reparations on the local and individual level: donating to groups like the United Negro College Fund or a scholarship program, but also, to cite your example from the book, paying “the black person who cuts your grass double what you might ordinarily pay.” That gave me pause!

I agree with reparations, but maybe this is my white privilege speaking: I can’t imagine actually doing that.
That is what I meant by an I.R.A.: an individual reparations account. You ain’t got to ask the government, you don’t have to ask your local politician — this is what you, an individual, conscientious, “woke” citizen can do.
But charity can’t be the end of it, right? The Koch brothers gave the United Negro College Fund $25 million, but I doubt you would consider them “woke.”
No. Martin Luther King Jr. believed that charity is a poor substitute for justice. But I ain’t turning $25 million down.
Dyson believes his book will reach out to “the ocean of white folk” who are “deeply empathetic to the struggles of minorities.”
The professor and former MSNBC contributor told the NYT that his book opens with “horror stories” about his engagement with police. He says that those types of experiences with law enforcement are even shared by prominent black politicians like Barrack Obama and former Attorney General Eric Holder.
“The reality is that this is part and parcel of what it means to be black in America, and I wanted to spend time talking and thinking about it from a number of different perspectives to show white brothers and sisters that we aren’t making this up,” Dyson said.
According to the official George Town University website, from 2008 to 2014, Dyson taught Social Science classes titled “Barack Obama and Race,” “Hip Hop Culture: Orig/Mean/Conseq,” and “Hip Hop: URB THEODICY JAY-Z.”
Carlos Lozada, a non-fiction book critic for The Washington Post, effectively summarizes the inflammatory nature of Dyson’s book:
Dyson makes clear that he regards much of white America as a pernicious force. “We can do nothing to make our tormentors stop their evil,” Dyson laments to the Almighty. “How can we possibly combat the blindness of white men and women who are so deeply invested in their own privilege that they cannot afford to see how much we suffer?”
He likens law enforcement officers to terrorists (“We think of the police who kill us for no good reason as ISIS”) and slave drivers (“The police car is a mobile plantation”). He admits that he’d like to pay violence back in kind. “Lord, Dear Lord, I don’t want to feel this way, but I swear to you I want to kill dead any Godforsaken soul who thinks that killing black people is an acceptable price to pay for keeping this nation safe. But then, am I any better than that soul?” And, in shades of Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Dyson calls on God to “convict” America. “May this land know your displeasure, taste your holy wrath, for killing us like pigs without conscience,” he writes.
In December, Dyson wrote a racially charged piece for the New York Times titled, “What Donald Trump Doesn’t Know About Black People,” in which he accused the President-Elected of having a “vast ignorance of black life” and claimed that the “greatest purveyors of identity politics today, and for the bulk of our country’s history, have been white citizens.”
A similar call for reparations was advocated by Duke University Public Policy Professor and reparations advocate Dr. William “Sandy” Darity in 2014.
Darity advocated that anyone who could prove that one of their ancestors was a slave and that they self-identified as African-American would be eligible to receive publicly funded reparations.

Growing up in the so-called “civil-rights” era, us white kids had to be wary of blacks. Most of the crime in those days WAS committed by blacks. For us white kids, two blacks riding on one bicycle was “trouble”…the black riding on the handlebars would jump off, knock a white kid off of his bike and take it. In many cases, white parents were too scared to attempt to take back their property as blacks were intimidating…not just the black kids themselves, but their parents would quite often laugh at the “crackers”…the police were absolutely no help, as possession was “nine-tenths” of the law.
I saw for myself, the destruction of white society in Detroit, beginning with the lawlessness that was allowed to flourish.
Noticing WHO was running the civil-rights movement, we had an old saying, “behind every Negro, there is a Jew”… No truer words were ever spoken…
From what I personally witnessed, we had racial oppression in reverse…It was blacks getting away with criminal behavior…
I lived in Detroit and through the 1967 riots…It seems that a number of important facts get left out.
1. “Blockbusting” by real estate agents was rampant. These unscrupulous POSs would send postcards to neighborhood residents stating “A “new family” is moving into your neighborhood. If you wish to sell your house, please call XXX-XXXX”). A “new family” was a euphemism for “blacks”. Real estate agents loved to play on the (justified) fears of whites…
2. HUD (Housing and Urban Development) speculators would purchase the best houses on every block and raze them. This was an attempt to depress property values so that speculators could buy them “on the cheap”. I realize that this runs counter to #1, but, it is fact…
3. During the riots, black businesses spray-painted the words “soul brother” on their business buildings so that the “angel of death” (looters) would “pass them by”.
4. The “nail in the coffin” of Detroit was the election of the first black mayor Coleman A. Young. Fulfilling a campaign promise, this Jew-enabled black POS abolished one of the most successful crime fighting programs (STRESS–Stop The Robberies, Enjoy Safe Streets). This program utilized disguised police officers as vulnerable old men and women. When the predators would attack, they were quite often dispatched to “the great hereafter”. Too many of mayor Coleman A. Young’s “homeys” were meeting their maker.
Coleman Young got along with the “movers and shakers”, but detested all white people, showing it with abrasive and abusive language.
The decline of this once-great city can be laid at the feet of the Jews and their black lackeys…

Mr. Dyson should take his own advice. He is asking for other people to do for him what he is not willing to do for himself. Gimme, gimme, gimme… It doesn’t cost him anything for other people to give him what he wants. If he REALLY wants change, he should be urging young people to get a good education, to develop skills for holding a job. He should be discouraging single moms by urging young women to keep their legs shut until they meet a man they are willing to marry. He should be demanding that his young friends in the hood stop shooting, raping, killing and stealing.

Many years ago my wife and I attended a potluck dinner with a majority of what would now be termed progressive types in attendance. You know the routine, everyone brings a dish and everyone has a nice meal. With about half the people still in line waiting their turn to fill their plate, the food ran out. All gone, everything. Seems there were a lot more eaters than there were providers.
I would like to know what benefits reparations would bring. Would it somehow bring the average jig IQ up and enable them to function normally in our society? There is much more to the “Emmett Till” story that is not widely known. Of course, killing him made him into a “martyr” of the black “civil-rights” movement, BUT–it is not generally known that Emmett Till was a strapping young man of about 160 lbs.–NOT a “little boy” as the presstitute media types tried to portray him as. He was a known womanizer and attempted to take his cocky “Chicago ways” in dealing with women to the Deep South. He was sent to live with relatives in the South because his Chicago relatives could not handle him. He had a “cocky attitude” and bragged about “getting it on” with white women–not a good idea in the South. . . According to published accounts, Mr. Till did not just “whistle” at a white woman, but grabbed, manhandled and fondled a married white woman. In Southern culture, this is the ultimate form of disrespect. Despite Mr. Till’s relatives’ attempts to spirit him “out of town” to avoid retribution by the woman’s relatives and townspeople, his cocky attitude “got in the way”, similar to the way that “young master Trayvon’s” attitude got him killed. Despite being given numerous “chances” to apologize for his behavior, he was defiant to the end. IF he had apologized for his behavior, he would still be alive today.
It is interesting to note that Emmett Till’s father was executed by the U S military for multiple rapes. Maybe “the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree” . . .
Rosa Parks was not the “ordinary” black woman that so-called historians made her to be. She was an organizer for the NAACP and was “planted” in order to advance the cause of black “civil-rights” to which she was successful.
Approximately a year previous to Rosa Parks’ “bus ride” and refusal to vacate her seat, a REAL ordinary black woman did the same thing. This black woman received NO publicity or support from the NAACP or other black “civil-rights” organizations. You see, she was an unmarried black woman with children. According to the black civil-rights crowd, this would not do. They wanted someone who was “squeaky clean” without any “baggage”. In fact, the “white guy” sitting behind Parks was part of the “set-up”. He was a UPI reporter, contracted to “stage” the event…
Hence, Rosa Parks made (fabricated) history . . .
Martin Luther (Michael) King was well-known for frequenting prostitutes, beating and abusing them while exclaiming that he “finally felt like a white man”. His own associates have stated as such. In a Province of just less than 1 million souls with Halifax the largest city, Black folks make up around 2% of population. But they have out sized representation in crime stats. Why?
