Step One:
- Put on your glasses/bifocals.
Step Two:
- “Download” or drag and drop the picture you want to post from your web browser to your desktop. You’ll have to use your mouse to do this. Pressing your finger against the screen and dragging will not work unless you have a tablet.
- Also Note: Your “Desktop” is the part of your screen with all the funny icons on it that appears when your internet browser is closed.
Step Three:
- Go to https://postimage.io AND
- Click “Choose Images”
Step Four
- From the “Desktop” option decide which image you would like to post and click “choose”.
Step Five
- Copy the web address in the “Direct Link” box. Again, you will have to use your mouse for this assuming you are not using a tablet of some kind.
Step Four
- Go to the comment box on TBP where you would normally type your “words of wisdom” and observe/read the sentence “You can add images to your comment by clicking here.”
Step Six
- Click the words “clicking here.”
Step Seven
- Paste the address you copied from postimage into the little rectangular box that lets you type in it.
Step Eight
- Press “OK”
Step Nine
- Hit “post” to display your choice of pictures along with your words of wisdom.
Note:
Pictures are funniest or have the most impact when they are used in some sort of context that is relevant to the conversation. For example, it is bad form to post pictures of smartly dressed Yorkies under BL’s name unless the thread is directly related to dogs.
Now have fun and stay safe out there!

No good deed gets done on TBP without a swift kick in the cajones.
I can’t even post a comment because of impossible captcha windows.
A five year old can figure out the captcha windows.
Admin- What if you keep getting the captcha windows that HAVE street signs and it asks to clicks street signs but the only option at the bottom is SKIP. There is no verify button, so no a five year old could not get past that. The screens are impossible.
I’ve had it fuck up on me like that sometimes. Try re-loading the page and trying again. In my experience those problems only happen once in a while.
I don’t understand why there is a captcha to navigate with every damn comment. I don’t mind it once in a while but I’ve only posted one comment in recent days that did not require it.
I use Brave browser with Proton VPN, and Privacy Badger and have never had to address a captcha at TBP.
It sucks, but it’s the best solution I have found so far for combatting the spam bots. Here are the stats for the last few days. Blue bars are where nobody had to click any pictures. Any other anti-comment-spam solution I know of would require some kind of clicking or adding numbers or something for every comment…

I’ll look into whether I can modify the way it works so that if you have a recently commented cookie in your browser it will forego the challenge.
Trying a new anti-spam thing now that doesn’t use a captcha. We’ll see if it’s an improvement…
I thought that it was just me,not the system.It hasn’t been so bad the last couple of days.
Save what you wrote if you hit refresh-it wipes out what you’ve already typed.
Way around this is hit the reload icon up front till you get to a captcha window that says “verify” instead of “skip” or “next” then use that one.
Then just keep checking the windows that fill the bill for it till no new ones appear with the requested image and hit “verify”.
Otherwise you risk failure of the process before you come to the end of it, at least in my experience.

When we were kids in the North we used to hunt injuns for sport. But it was tough. You had to be at least five meters from the Teepee etc. to set traps and you weren’t allowed to discharge firearms within 200 meters. Now, with the internet, I can bait them right to my office from the comfort of my desk. You just have to have the proper permits. Isn’t tech wonderful?

Actually… those are pretty Fucking. Good. Instructions. …as long as the postimage.io site stays around. Here’s why: there are a lot of sites on the Internet where you may be grabbing pictures from that do not allow what is called “hot linking” which is the process that you (Llpoh) just described. There are also a lot of sites that eventually disappear and/or change how they construct their URLs. And whenever you post an image the way you (Llpoh) described and one of those things happens, it will end up being broken on TBP either immediately or eventually.
I would just add one additional request to the original post: when you upload the picture to postimage.io, where it asks about re-sizing the picture, if you want to do a good deed for your fellow TBP’ers (or anyone who happens to look at the site), choose the 640×480 or the 800×600 size which will make an image that is the right size for these comments and will SIGNIFICANTLY SPEED UP THE PAGE LOAD in the case of large images for everyone who looks at the page.

Sorry, Star – I don’t own an android. The postimage site is actually super simple to use but I’m not sure how you would upload an image to it using your pad. If you can figure that part of it out then you should be able to use the site like a desktop computer. This is more TMWNN territory….

Llpoh….this is weird
I tried your approach to insert an image in the new comment section below your comment. I then clicked the hi-lited words “clicking here” and my screen was brought up to the top of this POST. Tried again – same thing.
Went to another TBP POST – it worked, Went to another TBP POST and it worked.
Went back to this POST, went to the next available open comment and tried to add the image by clicking on “clicking here” and I was brought to the very beginning of this POST at the top.
This is fixed now. Author hijacked the javascript inadvertently by using the actual “clicking here” link in his post.
OK so maybe this isn’t all that important. I have wanted to include pictures in my comments but could never figure out how to accomplish the task. These instructions don’t help because the writers, all learned men of great repute, have made the fatal error of assuming that what works for them will work for everybody. We are not all using the same computers, the same versions of windows, or even the same internet browser. So for all of those reasons and more our experiences with inserting pictures are going to be different from yours and in some cases don’t work at all.
So I will ask a real basic question which might help me to understand what TBP thinks is the best way to insert pictures into comments. Although based on the lovely pictures inserted above I am now reconsidering my own choice to insert any pictures. It appears to me that the process of inserting a picture involves uploading the picture to a web based picture repository. Perhaps any will do but the one mentioned seems to be postimage. Once on postimage the image will have a url and you can then paste that url into the add image click here below the comment window. Not elegant but I can understand the need for an url as the image would not be available if it was only stored on your own computer. This means that you can’t just click on any old image on your desktop. That instruction is wrong. You have to upload it to postimage or you can’t have a url to paste into the add images clicking here.
So I know this doesn’t read like a question but it really is. Do I have this right is the first question. The second question is “is this the most elegant and simple method for inserting pictures?” It might well be. I don’t claim to know. But for sure it doesn’t do any good for us all to esplain how we do it on our computer – because not all of use will have that same experience.
You’re right. The instructions above (all of them – the ones in the original post and the ones in the comments) will work for most people, most of the time. But nothing works for everyone all the time. Fucked world we live in…
Your description of the process described is correct. It is not the only way to put pictures in a post or comment. And the general method described in the original post probably actually is the most elegant way to do it from a big picture point of view, because it side-steps the hot linking problem and the disappearing files problem (again, as long as postimage.io sticks around), and gets around TBP having to host all the images which would eventually use up our poor server’s disk space. Postimage.io is definitely not the only such service and you could substitute whichever one you want. I’d never heard of postimage.io before this post went up, but I like its interface. Compared with a lot of the other similar services, it’s a lot cleaner and faster and easier to use.
The last time I posted one of the CATCHA dealios had you drag and drop a perimeter around a street sign. I wasn’t paying attention when I started so it turned into some weird little polygon. No amount of re clicking or dragging and dropping altered the original and I have severe OCD when it comes to things like that so I bet I spent five minutes of my life trying to undo my work with no success. Now I don’t even remember what I was trying to post.
And why does every single shop front look like it was taken in Bogota? Did they get a special deal on 3rd world photographs? Half the time it says “click on every picture with a mountain in it” and I’m trying to decide if maybe there is a mountain but it’s hidden by the building or the trees.
