I have been revisiting the classics. A few months ago, I reread Brave New World and, now, I have just started reading 1984. My goal is to write out my own personal comparison and contrast piece of these classics as applied to current events and with some possible future prognostications. It is mainly an assignment I have given myself for my own edification and I am unsure if I will ever end up posting anything for public viewing.

In any case, a lot of my books have been lent out and never returned, as was the case with Brave New World. The edition I had from the library included a letter from Aldous Huxley to George Orwell and it was very interesting. In the letter, Huxley praised Orwell for his important work but, simultaneously, wrote how his (Huxley’s) vision of the future was correct and Orwell’s, not so much. It was almost like a TBP shit-fest, but thrown in ink instead.

I just searched for the letter and it can be read at this link:

So far, it appears Huxley was (mostly) right. So far.

I highly recommend “The Devil’s Advocate” by Taylor Caldwell. It is even better than 1984 as evidenced by how hard the books are to find.

Wow…Vanunu,
I read the sample on Amazon and bought the book.
I crave good books…I think I’m going to like it.
I know I have read Taylor Caldwell’s books in the past,
but not this one. Thank you.
edit add: Kindle, does that count? Paperback = >$40.
