We should have never had government universities. At least not under the thumb of the federal government. This was started under the land grants program created by Lincoln’s administration. And you what happens when the feds get involved.

Jefferson’s University of Virginia preceded the Lincoln administration. And come to think of it: Jefferson and his relationship to public schooling always struck me as odd. I understand the idea of an educated citizenry, but how did Jefferson (the alleged champion of liberty) overlook the fact that government involvement in education would undoubtedly morph into one of the biggest engines for the dissemination of propaganda? Do you want liberty or coercion? Jefferson chose coercion — at least with respect to schooling.

I think this may be the culmination in the decline of the relevancy / worth of a college education. The inmates are running the asylum. There’s only so much lunacy that can be supported.

In order to turn it around, you have to start at the top. The ‘management’ (administration) has to decide that these petulant, tantrum throwing children will not be tolerated. A decision has to also be made about the course content reflecting the core values of the US.

While everyone is entitled to free speech, it makes no sense to teach ideas that are contradictory to our values. Most all these liberal arts courses draw from the idea that someone is a victim, and that society owes them something. It’s a very devious way of control.

I don’t know if any of these administrators have the balls to throw out these courses.

Nothing and no. Defund them and let nature take its course.

Exactly. Stop printing money, let capitalism take over and these problems will sort themselves out. ‘students’ will not have time to ‘protest’ white privilege and other social justice issues if they have to worry about where their next meal is coming from. Real need tends to sharply focus a foggy liberal mind.
It was once said, I forget where that in the cycle of decline of a society, it has reached its peak when the common person has the time and interest to pursue social issues, be a ‘foodie’, and idolize their pets as people. I have watched as this has developed slowly over the last few decades. Entropy for sure. Now that we literally have many mainstream channels expressly dedicated to food preparation, cat / pet worship and of course 24 / 7 ‘news’ which is mostly virtue signaling and talking empty heads, I believe we have reached the crest of this wave, and are starting to roll over towards the trough. These colleges are funded by a house of cards, and once these student loan recipients start to experience ‘the real’ I doubt highly that white privilege or Donald Trumps election is going to matter much.

Violence with extreme prejudice is the only way to clean up the colleges. However, we aren’t to that point yet. When the time comes we need to have thought through who our enemies are and act on that. If we don’t, they will. Don’t underestimate the “snow flakes” they will follow the Stalinist and Maoist examples.

Immediately ending all federal guarantees for student loans, while simultaneously allowing the loans to become dis-chargeable in bankruptcy court would be a good start.

Tuitions would plummet to the benefit of the motivated and talented.

Less money for the stupid destructive shit of administrative bloat for dumbass Diversity and Inclusion Officers.

The Diversity and Resentment Studies Departments should shrivel as well.

No, the government should not be involved in education. They have been effective in creating a type of religion that perpetuates the government to become bigger more powerful. The government (politicians) becomes all powerful. Making themselves gods to oversee the masses.

Black colleges (staff and students) must become fully integrated just as the real colleges were in the 1960s. Betsy DeVos should establish a standardized entrance examination for all colleges receiving any Federal dollars and a minimum score for all students (including athletes: football teams would be on a level mental field and their players bono fide students).

It’s really quite simple. But no legal authority has the backbone to do it. Shoot down a few dozen of these humps in the street and I guarantee this will stop. This is not protest. This is violent insurrection that’s caused both physical and property damage. Unfortunately we’ve tolerated a feminine mindset and approach to our societal ills for 40 plus years. Small wonder our civilization borders on chaos. “Feelings” don’t get it done.

What we need do is offer kids the opportunity to take classes on the ‘net for FREE from an accredited national college. Make it all electronic and give these high-priced universities some competition, then watch their tuition costs collapse like a house of cards!
The current system is bullshit and should be replaced.

Honestly, nothing needs to be done, they’ll do it to themselves. They’ve sacrificed a long-term asset (reputation) for a short term temporary benefit (social justice accommendations). It’s a bit like pawning your car title for scratch-off tickets: It may feel good and you know you’re going to hit the jackpot, but reality has other plans.

I know a guy from high school whose going to the University of Chicago for a master’s degree in Black Queer Marxist studies. I’m not even kidding, that is literally what he’s studying: Here’s his facebook page https://www.facebook.com/BrandonSuperbia. I think it has a lot of similarity to the Skyscraper index. The Skyscraper index says when huge misallocation is being made in the economy (namely skyscrapers instead of smaller, more practical buildings for less), the economy is about to contract. I propose a vanity-degree index, the more vain and detached a degree is from anything of value, the more misallocation of resources there are at the university.

The college economy is basically in the academic equivalent of a coked-up heiress crossed with the mania of a stock bubble. You can afford all these ridiculous gimmicks (social justice, protests, queer afro-radical degrees) for now. As things slow down, you sell everything you can to keep the party going. You sell the family silver for some more blow, you get rid of all the legacy assets (like respect, talented non-diverse students, STATUES in some cases) that aren’t doing anything for you; but in the end it’s all a short-term fix, every short-term high getting shorter at a higher expense, costing you more long-term wellbeing. Like Hemingway said: You go broke slowly, then all at once. Some universities will have to fire-sell everything soon, even sooner if the laws affecting student loans are changed.

Desperation is the price you pay for turning your seed corn to sour mash.
