Local station KCRA explained that the mayor “is considering a couple different ways to combat crime, including one that pays people not to commit crimes”:
The first option is out of Detroit called Project Greenlight. In this situation, live cameras would be set up inside and outside of businesses in Stockton, and the cameras would be monitored in real-time from the police headquarters.
The second option out of the Bay Area is more controversial. Richmond’s Advance Peace uses taxpayer dollars to pay men with firearm history to not shoot guns.
In exchange, the men can participate in adult fellowship, mentorships and job opportunity programs.
There’s a slight caveat, as explained by Mayor Stupid Ass on Facebook.
The money used to pay criminals would be obtained from donations, not taxpayer funds:

And FYI, I also acknowledge that this is just one of several ideas he’s considering. I’ll even grant him that it’s true that the program has worked (to some extent) in other communities.
But none of this makes the program any less dumb!

Exactly. Our goal should be to incentivize positive behavior, not incentivize the ‘non-completion’ of negative behavior!

It’s become quite obvious to me that liberals don’t understand cause and effect; they don’t see the unintended consequences. Every Din-do-nutin will be incentivized to commit more crimes because if they don’t get caught the win and if they do get caught they win. Yeah just great, create a situation where crime is a win-win proposition for criminals.
