ROAR AT THE SHORE

It’s biker weekend in Wildwood. If that’s not enough to get your blood pumping, this year is even more special. There is a massive concert on the beach. Maybe massive isn’t the right word. They are so desperate for people to show up to the Eddie Money/Foghat concert, they are giving the tickets away. We have two. We’ll wait until 8:00 or 9:00 to see the main acts, then we’ll head to the Shamrock. This would be a really hot ticket in 1977.

Biker weekend always generates a few good stories. Like this one.

I wore out a record company promo t-shirt. It said “When I was stone blue, Rock n Roll sure helped me through” Signed, Lonesome Dave.

And I interviewed Eddie Money on WNAP Stereo 93 in a produced hour-long show back in 1980.
Did you know his dad was a cop?
Hope it’s a great show, Admin. And watch out for that drawbridge that accidentally opened under that family’s car.

I saw Eddie Money, then the Outlaws open for first Santana and then Grateful Dead. It was a beautiful day. I was high on peyote. The backdrop of the stage had a jungle motif. All I saw was green fire. I think it was 1978. Santana was the best. The Dead interrupted their concert mid way to have to grill some food behind the stage. I could smell it and it kind of pissed me off. Nevertheless they were en fuego too.

@Zarathustra, Carlos Santana said in an interview about playing at Woodstock that he dropped acid a few hours before he was scheduled to play, but then they moved him up a couple of spots on the venue and he was peaking on stage. Said the neck of his guitar was a snake he was trying to control.

When I was a kid, I saw Eddie Money on a TV show singing “Take Me Home Tonight” with Ronnie Spector. What made it memorable was as he sang he kept making passes at Ronnie, who wasn’t the least bit interested and was very uncomfortable. As a true professional, she finished the song.
Enjoy the show, he’s probably over Ronnie by now. Be safe and Have a great time!

I love this video of him and Ronnie Spector. She may not have the prettiest face, but the way she moves in that vid is HOT! (Maybe ‘cuz my wife dances like that.)

I saw Eddie Money open for Edgar Winter’s White Trash at Rio Grande College (Ohio) either ’77, 78. or 79. Those years are pretty fuzzy.

I was surprised to see here the organizers have resorted to giving away tickets to watch the “King” of the slide guitar until reading in Wiki that he died better than a decade ago at age 57 from falling down stairs during a heart attack.

I thought Myrtle Beach was the biker beach. Did the black bikers run them all off, or what?
Having lived down there are one point, I know how nice and pleasant it is when the black bikers are around. It’s like all the crime from every other jurisdiction in America drives to Myrtle, which is no garden spot to begin with, gets drunk, and revs its engines and finds the ugliest women you ever saw to make unplanned future crime with. It’s a hoot! Seriously, black bike week is no week to be at the beach.

They’re no picnic around DC, either. I’ve been up there on the I95 loop after going up to Baltimore (also no garden spot), and been caught in a traffic jam caused by that black biker gang that’s famous for having dirtbikes and ATVs. They were doing donuts and tricks in the middle of the highway, blocking 6 lanes of traffic, before running off down the highway, reversing, and riding head-on into traffic to go up the exit ramp after some of their buddies. Absolutely the most wonderful people.
